About Tracy Lucente & Bill Houck
Bill & Tracy, during a 2005 visit to Bend, fell in love with the Tumalo Lake property and the original cabins which had been built in the 1930s. After moving to Bend in 2007, several years were spent obtaining necessary land use and building permits and trenching 1 1/2 miles to bring in electricity and phone. Construction began in 2009. The Hillside Cabin was completed in October, 2011, the Creekside Cabin in June, 2012, the Lakeside East Cabin in June, 2013 and the Lakeside West Cabin in October 2014. Eventually, a main lodge will be built.
Why Tracy Lucente & Bill Houck chose Bend
Central Oregon, and Bend, Oregon in particular, are well known for both Summer and Winter sports. Enthusiasts from near and far visit for hiking, biking (road and mountain), skiing (Nordic and Alpine), snow shoeing, boating, fly fishing, rock climbing, etc. Tumalo Lake Lodge is ideally situated in the middle of the nationally known 'Phil's Trail' mountain biking trail system. In Winter, these and other trails and shelters form an extensive snow shoeing/x-country trail network. Tumalo Falls (97 feet tall) and area hiking trails are just 3 miles away. Tumalo Creek, 2 miles away, affords fly fishing opportunities. While staying at Tumalo Lake you are staying on a private square mile of forested land surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest but still only 12 miles to Bend and all it has to offer.
What makes this Cabin unique
Quality of lodging. seclusion and spectacular private setting only 15 minutes from Bend. Enjoy all of the outdoor activities, galleries Tumalo Lake was stocked with Rainbow Trout in 2013 which are now averaging 16' and another 1000 were stocked in September, 2014. There are also some sizable native Brook Trout-- get your fly rod ready! Weather permitting, we will be maintaining an ice skating rink on Tumalo Lake this Winter.
Wonderful property, was a perfect weekend getaway.
The property was exactly as advertised. Beautiful and clean. The area was quiet and relaxing, just as we had hoped for. Communication with Bill and Tracy made everything easy.
Great Place to Stay
Beautiful Cabin in the middle of the woods, great for relaxation. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed. Close to town, and plenty of places for hiking.
Had everything we needed and Tracy was easy to contact when we did have questions. We went in December and the snow was beautiful, as well as the walk around the lake.
Beautiful setting, beautiful home!
Super comfortable, well designed and equipped with three master suites and two separate living areas. Perched on the side of Tumalo Lake this home was a perfect getaway in the woods, yet just a few minutes from all Bend has to offer. We shopped, lunched, hiked and kayaked during a three day weekend. The wood stove and hot tub were so cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare several dinners. The owners were very helpful before, during, and after our stay. I highly recommend this property.
This is an amazing property with everything we needed and more, we will return for sure.
We were looking for a place to spend the last three days, of a three week vacation, in Oregon and stumbled across Tumalo Lake Lodge on VRBO. We weren’t sure what to expect but we were extremely impressed once we arrived. Not only is this an amazing wilderness retreat but Tracy and Bill have thought of everything in their luxurious cabins. I’m very particular and have stayed in numerous VRBO’s across North America and this is definitely one of the best we have tried. Our sons loved the lake, the paddle boards, the kayaks, and the endless trails in the area. If you enjoy running, biking, paddling, or hiking this is your spot. We finished each day in the hot tub on the deck and enjoyed the view and the quiet peace of the lake. The cabin had everything one needs and more down to the smallest details. We don’t have one bad thing to say about Tumalo Lake, the property was 5 Star in every respect. Our family will be back for sure and hope to take advantage of the cabins in the winter season for skiing and snowshoeing. Thank you to Tracy and Bill for everything, keep up the great work at the lake!
