About Angie Tanner

As you can see, we have our hands full with 3 little boys. Our twins just turned 7 years old and are in first grade. Our littlest boy is 4 years old and has just started preschool. Our most important priority is spending time with our family. We are also avid travelers, but since we have had children our travel has become much more limiting. So... we decided to combine our two favorite things and buy a vacation home. This is how Memory Maker started. The kids are young and we want them to have many happy memories at our Log home at Deep Creek Lake. Frank and I are both originally from the PA area and now raise our family in Northern Virginia. Angie has her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Pennsylvania State University. We are Penn State! Frank has his computer science degrees from Millersville University and West Chester University. Both Frank and Angie received graduate degrees from The Johns Hopkins University. (BK-Before Kids) Frank and Angie loved to travel internationally and domestically, drink awesome wine and visit wineries, hike, enjoy delicious meals, spend time with friends and family, snow ski, read, and relax. (AF-After Kids) Frank and Angie love to spend time with kids, family, and friends, Geocache, hike, boat, water tube, play legos, make bon-fires and messy smores, jump in the lake, and snuggle wiggly children. We hope you and your family and your friends come to our home and make those memories that last a life time. After all, Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away.

Why Angie Tanner chose Deep Creek Lake

We have been looking at second homes all over the East Coast, but always come back to Deep Creek Lake and McHenry MD. Deep Creek Lake is absolutely beautiful in each season and has its own romance and personality. We have looked at homes throughout the lake, but for our busy family we really wanted to stay close to where the action is. We can walk to restaurants. We can walk to Smiley's

What makes this townhome unique

What makes this home unique is that it is a huge log townhome directly on the water. The logs throughout the home is beautiful, warm, and cozy. Our home is in the heart of McHenry and is within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and entertainment but tucked away on the water for a quiet, lakefront experience. Each of the 3 levels of this home faces the water, ski slopes, and has magnificent sunsets. When people talk about “Million Dollar Views”; this is it. Even when you are inside it feels like you are still part of the outside. From any level of the house you can go outside, sit and watch the kids play in the water, boats pulling up to the dock or people skiing down Wisp. Inside the home there are unique touches throughout. For example, the owner has hand made much of the décor from a cedar tree she had on her property. These unique wooden pieces include an old world map wall hanging, a coffee table, 2 end tables, bear and moose coasters, stump tables, a large scrabble board wall hanging, console table, bear and moose hanging art work, and wooden candelabras.

The upper level has 2 master suites each with jetted tubs and separate showers. The waterside master has a private balcony for enjoying that morning cup of coffee. All the bedrooms (except the bunk room) have new flat screen HD smart TVs with Netflix and cable.

The kitchen has ample counter space and granite countertops. The stove is a 5 burner gas range. The basement boasts its own theater room with a 7 foot retractable screen with a projector and surround sound system. The theater area includes an Xbox 360 and games for the family.

Outside there is a brand-new lake-side 6 person hot tub with 65 jets that has amazing views of the lake and mountain. The grassy yard is flat and has plenty of room for all sports. There is a community fire-pit 20 feet from the water for those cool fall nights. You will have your own boat slip 50 feet from the back door of the house.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you very much for sharing your home with us as we found that it was beautiful and the view was spectacular. We enjoyed staying there and really liked the comforts of home ! We stayed out on the lake most of the time and was exhausted when we returned. However, it was so nice to know that we could relax in a wonderful environment. (Clean, cool and comfy!)

My family was overwhelmed and thought it was the best place they have ever stayed on a lake! Ha! So, my wife and I enjoyed seeing them really like the place. The only regret is that we forgot to take the opportunity to sign your memory-guest-book. I believe that when we come back again we will sign it twice. The Memory-Maker is the right name because it fulfilled every expectation and surpassed them as well. All the neighbors were very nice and we got to speak with them occasionally.

We will communicate to you when we would like to return sometime this coming winter. As you suggested between weekends for sure (M-F).

Fabulous place just like you said it was. Thanks again and look forward to hearing from you.

Christmas on the Lake

  • 5 of 5

We planned Christmas on the lake as three familys all traveling form different areas and this was a pretty good half way point.

We needed a good size house with lots of room for three little boys to run. When we saw the owners of this house had three little boy we knew they would be setup for us, and it was, The weather the first two days were cold and wet, we had plenty to do indoors between WII and Xbox, Movies, large rooms we were set. In this house you are walking distance to an Arcade with lots and lots of games and Duck Pin Bowling, We spent about 3 hours there and had a blast. There were plenty of places to eat out but we chose to mostly eat in and cooked. The kitchen is fully stocked with no need for anything. Dishes are abundant. Hot tub was hot and great ion the cold air. The two Master suites are very, Very nice and would be great for two couples that some one gets a Master, Now you both get it.

One day we took a drive to the Deep Creek State Park. there are some great hiking trials whether you want to go a mile or 5 miles. Its only about a 5 mile drive to get there, Wonderful, Wonderful.

Great place to relax and enjoy the view!

  • 5 of 5

We (group of 7) stayed here for Thanksgiving week. Everything was great! The home was clean and nicely decorated. Kitchen was fully stocked for all of our cooking, and the double oven was really useful for Thanksgiving meal prep. There was plenty of room to hang out in the upstairs living room with the fire, or downstairs with the awesome home entertainment system. The hot tub was a hit with our group, even though it was in the 30s and 40s when we stayed. You can even turn on a movie on the projector inside and watch from the hot tub. TVs in every room with netflix and cable made all guests happy. Only small complaint was that the wifi was occasionally spotty, but we did have a lot of devices connected (phones, laptops, etc.). Turning our devices' wifi on and off usually got it to reconnect fine. Angie was great, recommending places for us to visit, and activities for our group. Unfortunately, we didn't get any snow to ski, but we did explore the wisp resort activities and go on the giant mountain coaster (would highly recommend!). There is a grocery store just a few minute drive away too. Would definitely recommend this place, and would love to stay again in the summer for lake activities!

Gorgeous home with amazing view!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 10 wanted to get away for a weekend at a waterfront property where we could dock our pontoon boat, relax and enjoy a weekend together. Angie was wonderful from beginning to end. She was responsive and made sure all was ready for us when we got to her home. Her home is warm, inviting, with an amazing view of the water and mountains. The entire family had a wonderful time. Thank you Angie for making your home available to us and making our first time at Deep Creek a wonderful experience.

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Memory Maker with our friends and we had a wonderful time! The location was perfect and we loved having access to the lake in the backyard. The home is well-kept and Angie was a pleasure to work with. She even sent me a long list of recommendations on things to do and places to eat -- it was extremely helpful. We highly recommend this home!
