There is a 3' divider to separate the sleeping area from the kitchenette. This is NOT a bed ROOM but part of the large 25'x12' studio and we try to offer a little more privacy this way.

The Sellwood neighborhood is one of the best walking neighborhoods in the Portland area. Walk to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, library, parks, the Willamette River. Bike rentals are nearby. No need for a car but there is a space reserved if you choose to bring one. Public transit is only a block away that will get you to any part of Portland metro area.

My fiancée and I could not have asked for a better place to stay while visiting, Oregon. Rose was so sweet and really cared about her guest. The room was so nice and perfect for us. We loved having our own private entrance. The bed in the guest suite was super comfy and all together the suite was homie. I recommend Roses sellwood guest suite over a hotel any day.

I honestly did not know what to expect, as I had never stayed in someone's home. Warm, cozy, comfortable and extremely clean.

The area, Sellwood, is perfect for wandering shops and restaurants. And dear Rose, the owner of the home, provides a list of places to go and things to do. Also, a bit of history concerning Portland.

But, enough of that. Rose has done a wonderful job of providing the perfect place to stay. She was out of town, but we communicated. The location is great for easy access into downtown Portland. I would recommend this little slice of heaven to both people I know, and strangers alike.

This was our first trip to Portland and Rose was wonderful in helping plan things to do. The accommodations were cozy and wonderful for two people. Nice big beautiful bathroom. The best part was - we were there during berry season and were welcomed to pick all the warm juicy blueberries and raspberries from the backyard as we wanted. The location is in a nice relaxing neighborhood with lots of great restaurants and some shops. LOVED the tea room - nice place to get some work done. Great proximity to downtown - we rented bikes and took the path right there in 20 minutes. Loved Sellwood, Loved the suite, Loved Rose and her sweet little 'ol pup! Highly recommended for a nice laid-back get-away!

It was OK landscaping was nice

If you rent the bottom unit which is the basement the people above you can potentially lock you out which happened to us we had to knock on the upper unit area and wait 45 minutes before they would let us in. If you're tall don't stay in the bottom basement area because you'll hit your head also my friend stayed in the bed and she woke up with bedbugs bites on her body. And make sure to check the hot tub cover because we were charge our deposit because she said that we put a hole in the hot tub cover Which I don't believe we put the hole.

Owner's Response: This guest is lying about my place because I found damage caused by him and his two drunken female companions and he was upset that I charged him $75 for the damage. Here's my recollection of their stay...One of his companions was so drunk upon arrival that she weaved and slurred her words to the point that I was concerned for her safety. Lie...There's no reason that the upper level guests would lock out the guests in the guest suite since it is a different entry. Exaggeration...There is a small area that is lower than the 7 ' ceiling which is the air return. Anyone over 6' tall does have to be careful. Since 2010, I have hosted dozens of tall people who deal with this 107 year old home's quirks. Lie...I am shocked that this guest would accuse me of having bed bugs. I examine my bed linens carefully after each guest and also sanitize them and I have an exterminating service that controls anything in my home. There were no bed bugs anywhere after these guests left. Funny they never mentioned these things to me directly. I'd believe them more if they told me before they left. When I checked on them a few times during their stay and asked if they were comfortable and if everything was ok, this guest always said they loved the place and enjoyed everything. Never complaints. If I found bed bugs, I'd be calling the owner immediately. I did have to ask them to keep their voices down at one point as they were in loud party mode. Proof in my photos...I know these guests damaged my hot tub cover because in addition to the burn hole, there were cigarette ashes covering the area near the hole, there were cigarette butts tossed around the hot tub and this property has a strict NO SMOKING ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERTY policy. A replacement cover costs $400. Charging him $75 was getting him off very easy. Concern...The many empty alcohol cans in the trash along with the broken glass had me troubled. Again I have never been accused of any of these horrible things but I have never had such horrible guests. I almost denied them entry to my home and did call VRBO after my concern for the drunk girl to find out what I should do about my concern. I should have listened to my gut telling me these people were trouble. But to write a review with such bold lies clearly is an unnecessary assault. Thankfully 99% of my guests make up for these despicable people.

Great location, Cozy, cute and clean

  • 5 of 5

The location of this cozy apartment in the wonderful Sellwood neighborhood can't be beat. The place has a lovely bathroom and sitting area. My husband is tall and did hit his head on the lower ceilings, but just once! Rose is a wonderful hostess. I would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thanks Charmaine and Robert I really enjoyed having you stay in my suite. Too bad the air return affects tall people. That's the way houses were built in 1910. Robert was good at avoiding it at being 6'5". Love to have you stay any time. Best Rose

Gardener's paradise in a quiet neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed Rose's quiet basement suite in this walkable neighborhood. Even in the record-setting heat, her glorious flowers and fruit bushes were in bloom and a joy to behold. Near the Sellwood Bridge, this location is conveniently close to downtown while maintaining a separate neighborhood feel. Restaurants, bars, coffeeshops, and a riverside park are within walking distance. Rose is knowledgeable about Portland and is a great conversationalist. Lovely!
