Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 1 1/2 bath, 1 level

The home is located a mile west of Gunnison in the quiet area of Island Acres. Island Acres is between the Gunnison River and a branch of the river used for irrigation (great for tubing). We are conveniently located about a mile from Gunnison and the Gunnison airport. The home is near everything Gunnison Valley has to offer: fishing, hunting, skiing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, white water rafting, lake activities, etc. The list is huge in Gunnison. More specifically, we are 30 minutes away from Crested Butte Ski Area and Monarch Ski Area. Blue Mesa Reservoir is only 15 minutes away. Dos Rios Golf Course is about a half mile away. Hartman Rocks(10 minutes away) is full of trails for hiking and mountain biking and there is also an observatory there. This house is a five minute walk to the Twin Bridges for fishing and the White Water Park for kayaking, rafting and swimming. It is common to see deer grazing in the open field in front of the house and we have even seen a moose and bear there.

Two bedrooms have queen beds and one bedroom has two twin beds and is connected to the half bath. There is a full kitchen with most cooking items and dishes. The kitchen flows into the dining area and then to the living area. The bedrooms are down the hall from the living room. The house is on one level and is half of a duplex, also owned by this owner, and is separated from the other half of the duplex by two garages. Living room has TV with cable, DVD and Wi-Fi. There is a game cabinet for evenings in, a rec center in town for indoor swimming and working out. Gas BBQ and lawn furniture for gorgeous summer days.

This house is only a one minute walk from the 'Gunnison River House' in case you need another house for friends or family in the area.

This is a pet free and non-smoking property.

About Kim Cressman

Jan and Kim are sisters and grew up in Gunnison (an amazing place to grow up). We have another sister, Jennifer, who owns a property just north of this home and on the river. Jan is the only sister currently living here full time. She will be a wealth of information on where to go and who to get in touch with. Kim and Phil (her husband) and Cole (son) live in Denver and come for frequent visits; especially for Cattlemen's Days in July.

Kim Cressman purchased this house in 1987

Why Kim Cressman chose Southwest

We bought this property because we wanted to have a home for our Mom (the best) and this is where we grew up. This particular property is in a quiet area with easy access to town and still rural enough to have lots of wildlife and great walking and biking. Gunnison is an amazing place especially for people who love the outdoors.

What makes this house unique

We like the quiet and that this is a dead end subdivision. Not a lot of traffic. The irrigation ditch was perfect for nieces and nephews to play in. We are right by the river for fishing and near the white water park for rafting. The open field in front is nice to catch glimpses of the deer out the front windows.

A Great Place To Stay

  • 5 of 5

The property met our vacation needs. We were able to park our enclosed trailer still attached to our truck and still have room for an additional vehicle. The house was very comfortable and furnished with great detail. It has all the little touches that make you feel right at home.

Kim was great in organizing our visit. She was quick to respond with any questions we may have had. Our deposit was returned promptly. Her sisters Jan and Jennifer were both nearby. They were very pleasant to visit with and had great suggestions for local sites to visit.

The area was very quiet and near enough to Gunnison River and Whitewater park to enjoy a sunrise/sunset walk to take in all the natural beauty.

We hope to return to the area in the future and that we will be able to stay here again. We would highly recommend this location.

It was all we needed plus more

  • 5 of 5

It was very clean, comfortable and had lots of great extras. From flashlights on the kitchen counter and bed night stands, to soap, shampoo, cream rinse, in the bathrooms, to dryer sheets and laundry soap by the washer and dryer. We were pleasantly surprised and everything worked well. Thanks for a great time.

Great Hosts

  • 5 of 5

We we very happy with the accomodations. it is 1/2 of a duplex with Jan( one of the sisters) living in the other part of the house. Jan came over to introduce herself and gave us lots of ideas on where to go and what to see while in the area. She was very gracious and a great host, being there if needed, but not watching like a hawk. I highly recommend this house if you are going to the Gunnison area. It is tucked back off the hiway about a 1/4 mile in a very quiet neighborhood.

This home was perfect, and close to town!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was for WSCU Graduation celebration. The home was exceptionally clean and well stocked for our needs. Kim handled all of the travel arrangements and details while Jan was there for anything we needed while at the house. Jan went out of her way to help us with getting a bigger pot to cook our celebration meal. The home was real close to town and in a quiet spot so traffic or neighbors were no issue. there was even plenty of parking for our guests. This was so much better than staying in a hotel/motel. I highly recommend this home!

Gunnison Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time vacationing in Gunnision. This house suited out needs perfectly for what we needed it for. The house was very clean and well organized, Jan was a nice host and Kim was wonderful in getting this home set up for us. Our deposit was promptly returned after our stay. The biggest downfall is that we couldn't stay any longer! We hope to return to this property another time!

We are 30 minutes from Crested Butte Ski Area, 30 minutes from Monarch Ski area and 15 minutes from Blue Mesa Reservoir. Gunnison is a popular hunting spot for deer and elk. The rental is just upriver from a white-water park which is busy all summer with kayaks, rafters and swimmers. Gunnison sits in the middle of several wilderness areas; great for camping, 4-wheeling, mountain biking and hiking. Year round activities available.
