Overview

About the property

Flat with 3 beds (1 Double, 1 Single, 1 Double Sofabed) 2 Bathrooms. Navona Area

You will find yourself in one of the most beautiful old “palazzo” of the historic centre of Rome, a short walking distance from Piazza Navona and from the most important city monuments.

This particularly favourable position makes it an ideal location for anyone who wants to visit Rome without tiring himself.

The door of the “palazzo” is huge in antique massive wood with studs and above coat of arms. The entrance hall where time ago the horses and the carriage went through conduct to a beautiful and elegant courtyard (15th century) with its characteristic double lodge supported by antiques granite columns with carved capitals.

Close to an antique fountain and a generous in fruits and fragrant flowers orange tree, stand the iron gate to access at the apartment.

The apartment, on two levels, is very quiet and light, and has recently been restructured and furnished elegantly with antique furniture which has been in my family for generations. Inside is made up of a good sized living room with a divan/bed, a completely furnished kitchen, and a bathroom with shower. On the upper floor there is a double bed with an additional single bed, and a bathroom (with some steps) with tub and shower. It comes with Air Conditioning, Wi-Fi, TV, Dishwasher, Washing Machine and Iron.

NEARBY

The neighbourhood also offers a range of fashionable shops and characteristic eating places, (trattorias, pizzerias, wine bars….) where typical Roman cuisine can be enjoyed so that visitors will really feel part of the atmosphere of old Rome.

Restaurants, trattorie and pizzerie, supermarkets, groceries & bakeries are just around the corner and a fascinating open air fresh food market is held every morning in the medieval Campo de’Fiori square a few steps away from the apt. Nearby there are also, pharmacies, art galleries, antique shops, book-stores, phone centres, banks with ATM machines, travel agencies, post offices and tourist information points.

The apartment is well connected to all areas of Rome by public transportation (bus stops and taxi stands are easily accessible). The bus stop is near the corner of the building with direct links to Termini railway station, San Pietro, Coliseum, Campidoglio, Quirinale and so on..

About Andrea

Hello, My name is Andrea. I am the owner of the Flat. I live in Rome and I have a family with 2 children. I love to share my knowledge of the area and its wonderful archaeological sites and restaurants. I strive to make every guest's stay comfortable and memorable.

Andrea purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Andrea chose Centro Storico

I really like the area. This is the only place where you can really feel the atmosphere of ancient Rome civilization, the beauty of the monuments, squares, fountains and palaces.

The neighborhood also offers a range of fashionable shops and characteristic eating places, (trattorie, pizzerie, wine bars….) where typical Roman cuisine can be enjoyed. Nearby there are also pharmacies, art galleries, antique shops, book-stores, phone centres, banks with ATM machines, travel agencies, post offices, tourist information points. Supermarkets, groceries & bakeries are just around the corner and a fascinating open air fresh food market is held every morning in the medieval Campo de’Fiori square a few steps away from the apartment.

The apartment is also well connected to all areas of Rome by public transportation (bus stops and taxi stands are easily accessible). The bus stop is near the corner of the building with direct links to Termini railway station, San Pietro, Coliseum, Campidoglio, Quirinale and so on..

What makes this apartment unique

The peace and quietness - even though you are in the middle of the oldest part of Rome. Everything is within walking distance - no need for a car and you can explore the beauty of the city mostly on foot. Within walking distance, there are many historical monuments such as Piazza Navona, St. Peter's Basilica, the Pantheon, the Coliseum with the Imperial Forum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. In addition, a few steps you can lose yourself in the narrow streets of Trastevere or there may be fascinated by the open-air market in Campo dei Fiori. You can also enjoy shopping in many boutique or spend pleasant evenings in the many restaurants or pubs in the historic center.

Fabulous apartment

  • 5 of 5

Andrea's apartment is perfect in every way. It has everything you would want for a visit to Rome. Warm, clean, well equipped, quirky & beautiful . In the heart of many good resturants & bars, in a labyrinth of lovely cobbled streets & alleyways. Also in walking distance of all attractions.

Andrea was very helpful and communication with him was first class.

We can highly recommend this fabulous place and will certainly stay here again on our return to Rome

Quiet, safe, central and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Staying in Andrea's apartment was perfect for our family of three visiting Rome. We were greeted by Andrea for check-in, which he does with great care and is very thorough. Andrea has a wonderful guide book to help make the stay, including suggested walks, sites to see, places to eat, and transport options. Andrea also organised a taxi to transport us to Fiuminico airport on our departure, which was a great help. The apartment is well heated and you can adjust this meet your own need of warmth. It is compact, with innovative uses of space that work well. We found everything comfortable, exceptionally clean, well thought out and easy to use. Being set within the walls of the old palace building security is excellent. Once inside the courtyard and then inside the apartment itself the noise and bustle of Rome is gone and you have a peaceful place to stay. Although limited with windows, the walls are decorated with charming paintings and small windows upstairs can provide air flow if wanted. Andrea is a wonderful host, he responded quickly to any concerns we had, we felt cared for and respected in our stay and we would not hesitate to stay at Andrea's apartment again. Thank you Andrea.

We are grateful to Andrea for his warm hospitality and beautiful, clean, well designed and equipped apartment. It was warmly heated and accurately represented the photo and descriptions on the website. We are thankful for Andrea's thoughtful, genuine and honest manner in which he dealt with us. The apartment is the perfect base to explore all of Rome and is situated in the historical centre of Rome within walking distance to all major attractions. Adequate But Small

  • 3 of 5

The flat is in an excellent location and is generally quiet. Accommodation was clean and neat with modern amenities. However, it was very small and dark. The photos on the website do not accurately represent the size of the unit and there is little room. It is adequate for 2 people but would be unliveable for more than that. The downstairs bathroom is nicely appointed. However, the upstairs bathroom is built in a stairwell, so using the amenities during the night was treacherous. The toilet was up 2 flights of stairs, perched on a small landing and the washbasin was halfway down the stairs, the other way. The bathtub was another couple of steps lower, right under the stairs and would not be useable by anyone who is claustrophobic. In a semi-sleeping state, it was really unpleasant to use the facilities. The flat also has very little natural light. There is a window pane in the entrance door, which lets in a bit of light and then a small window above the door on the mezzanine level lets in a bit more, but one has to have the lights on all the time when one is in the space. It was like living in a cave and was quite depressing. There was also no way to see outside, unless one was standing right at the door, so no views. We could not wait to leave every morning, just to be in the natural light outdoors. As we were there over December, the flat was very cold and there is no central heating. There was a small space heater for downstairs, which made no significant difference as the space was double volume and the heat rose. Upstairs was an A/C unit which provided adequate heating. The downstairs bathroom had a good heater, while there was nothing in the upstairs bathroom. The owner, Andrea, was helpful and the arrival and departure went smoothly. In summary, this was adequate accommodation if one doesn't expect or need much room and one is fine with living in a dark space. Personally, I would not consider renting it again but that doesn't mean it is not suitable for other to rent.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking time to write about your stay in my apartment. I am glad you enjoyed the location of the apartment and you found it clean and neat. I regret that your experience was not entirely satisfactory. Regarding the heating, I am sure there has been a misunderstanding based most probably of a lack of correct information from my side. If I knew while you were in the apartment I could have properly set the heating system for the areas that you have considered not adequately warm. I apologies for this. Moreover, I am sorry you did find the apartment with little natural light, I am sure that the Christmas period as well didn’t help maximize the light that the apartment normally has. Sincerely, Andrea Owner and Manager

A cute little secret in Rome

  • 5 of 5

A nice modernized apartment, elegantly decorated and respecting the architecture of this 15th century house. Modern equipment. Very comfortable and especially just so quiet. Right next to one of the best "patisserie" of Rome where you will find great cakes and others deserts. A distance of 10 minutes from Piazza Navona, Campo di Fiori and other attractions of Rome. I am happy to have chosen this apartment. And Andrea, the owner is charming, dedicated and always ready to help. The second bathroom is just so special. You have never seen such a thing. I will not tell you more about it, i'll let you discover it...Enjoy your stay as I did.
