It's just a short walk from this house to the beach, Del Mar town center or the Fair Grounds (see "location" map)!

6 houses from ideal beach- swim, boogie board, surf, volleyball, jog, walk or simply sit and watch the sun set: 1600 square feet of unique hexagonal open plan two story shingled home. This is the perfect location for a family vacation, or 2 or 3 couples to share.

FIRST FLOOR: Living room-dining room -kitchen surrounding circular staircase, with views of garden foliage & lawn. Living area has 2 leather couches, TV with DVD player with access to your Netflix, iCloud, Ruko accounts.There is a table and seating in the large gourmet kitchen and a dining room with an oak table seating 8. Owner sometimes occupies self- contained studio with separate entrance from NW yard -also reserved for owner's use.

SECOND FLOOR: 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a deck {some ocean view May'16} to relax outside.

OUTSIDE: North side large garden patio with lawn on 3 sides. The patio has hexagonal glass top table with umbrella and seating for 6, and a BBQ. On east side a 20x25' fenced lawn for small children visible thru sliding door. There is also a covered porch with chairs at west front entrance for quiet reading.

Beach/surf chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, sand games and toys, and a beach wagon are available for use.

Tenant Parking for 4 cars on E front lawn

TOWN CENTER: Three more blocks is city center and shops, restaurants.

RACETRACK - FAIRGROUNDS: Half mile walk NORTH to fairgrounds/racetrack MAIN ENTRANCE on Jimmie Durante.

GENERAL: Unless otherwise arranged: Rental begins 3pm, ends 11am.

About Neal Gobar

Owner has lived here since 1977, customizing many features of this odd shaped house, but more recently removing lawns, planting succulents for water saving and separating rented portions of this oversized beach area lot from those used by owner.

TENANTS HAVE EXCLUSIVE USE OF almost all of the house, a large garden patio area outside the kitchen, and a large lawn area connected to dining room and kitchen patio where beach equipment is normally kept and we wash off beach sand and exclusive parking [room for 3 cars] on a "lawn" east of front driveway.

Access for all is over dbl. driveway and 4'- brick walk W of garage.

Owner reserves for own use outside areas fenced off from rented areas; including 2 at rear of lot [NE and NW] corners [accessed along the E and W property lines] and a small work area between garage and tool room. Owner also reserves for own use the garage, a tool room next to it, and a downstairs bedroom; all are accessed from the brick walk west of garage [except tool room is accessed from garage over a small brick area between them.

Why Neal Gobar chose San Diego County

Lots of windows open to mostly green/garden yards in all directions, and views for some distance from upstairs, especially to east over railroad , hillsides, and roadways. Passing trains usually slip past amazingly quietly and quickly [most in less than 10 seconds]. It is at street end, bothered less by passing traffic looking for parking places, and by the winds off the ocean and noisy BEACH pleasure seekers on and walking to and from the beach. For exclusive use of renters are about 1600 sq ft inside the home and much more outside, in addition to private lawn parking for 4 cars. The garden has lots of mature bouganvilla, trees and shrubs, and open space on 3 sides, and SHADE in the summertime.

What makes this house unique

HEXAGONS, 10, YES ten of them make up this home; and you can often see out into the gardens in several directions from one spot. All electric, no risk/bother of gas in the house. For train lovers, sometimes see them stopped on siding waiting for another train to pass by.

Fun, unique home in a great area

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hexi-house. The pictures don't show all the character the home has. The spiral staircase in the middle of the house makes it all very open, while still giving enough space for everyone.

The home is close enough to the ocean to hear it, but not to see it. When I booked, I didn't realize the train runs right next to the house. It could be a little loud sometimes, but it didn't keep anyone awake at night.

Shari was great to work with! She gave us some great suggestions to help us enjoy our time in Del Mar. It is an easy walk to the beach through a nice neighborhood. We had a great time!

Fabulous location!

We enjoyed our week in this very unique home. It is very close to the beach and they do provide lovely beach chairs, towels and the necessary items to carry gear. Shari was very accommodating with our schedule as was the owner - we had a total of 3 people so we had plenty of space. The train noise is significant and the shower height was a bit unusual but neither would preclude our booking again.

The Wedding Party

The house fit our needs perfectly (5 adults & 2 children). The train goes by regularly which was exciting for the children and not overly bothersome for the adults. The house was well equipped for all of our needs including beach time. The ample parking was much appreciated (enough for 4 cars plus), especially given the parking challenges in Del Mar. We were there for a wedding which took place at the Powerhouse which is an easy 2 block walk. The house was definitely worth the rental cost and the owner was very easy to get along with.

Perfect Beach House

This was the perfect beach house. There was plenty of space, a fully equipped kitchen for cooking your own meals, a bbq grill, and a nice private back yard. The neighborhood was quiet and clean, and only a few minutes walk to the beach, my kids walked to the beach (barefoot most of the time) multiple times a day and night during our stay to boogie board and play in the surf. The house was clean and cozy and more than we could have hoped for. We will definitely be returning for all of our vacations. We fell in love with this house and with Del Mar! I would absolutely recommend this property.
