well appointed from the salt and pepper through the kitchen utensils, beds and bedding; Ernesto the property manager was like a personal guide to draw maps and advise. Fantastic views, pools and short walk to private and beach...

A beautiful, very clean, very safe, remote property, with only a couple minor downsides

  • 4 of 5

Dates traveled: Jan 27 - Feb-3 (2016)

Ages: 35,36

My wife and I traveled to Cancun for a business/fun trip, I was apprehensive about staying in the Hotel District because I didn't want the crazy traffic, crowds, and noise. I wanted to find something quiet, but that still offered the same level of comfort. I quickly settled on this property, it seemed a little out of the way but I didn't really mind. Ill summarize my likes and dislikes below.

Likes +

+ Quiet, peaceful place

+ Secluded

+ Safe, you go through 2 guard stations to get into the La Amada Residences and they are all very nice people.

+ The place was clean, very nice, a little too spartan for my taste but still very nice.

+ Good view of the ocean and the port where the boats come in.

+ Beautiful pool at the top of the residence and at the resort

+ They operate on an honors system, their pantry comes pre-stocked so if you use it you need to replace it. this was refreshing.

+ The resort, you can use, was very nice, it had a beautiful pool and, when it was open a good snack menu to choose from.

Dislikes -

- While we liked the seclusion, the one thing that became apparent was eating out was going to be more difficult that we first anticipated. This is a remote spot, your closest store about 15 mins away. And restaurants are about 20 min away. So if you come here just be prepared to travel to get where you what to go

- The pools, while nice, are not heated, nor is the hot tub, and in Jan/Feb it gets pretty windy up there around 2:00, and the water was colder than you might think. It would have been nice for the hot tub to have worked.

- The tub in the master bedroom picture does not work, it's just for show.

Recommendation: Despite these negatives this is still a very nice place, if your trying to get away from all the noise this is a really good place to go. Having said that, this place is just a little too out of the way my wife and I, if your planning on seeing any of the ruins, or traveling down south , it just adds a fair amount of time to your travel and it puts you in the city which is CRAZY, there are very few identifiable care lanes, people running from one side of the road to the other, random speed bumps that if you don't see will really damage your car, and cops EVERYWHERE.

Tips:

1. Bring copies of your drivers license, if cops pull you over they will take it and require you pay them to get it back. If you hand them a copy...your all set ;)

We had a great time staying at this property

  • 5 of 5

We (two couples) rented this apartment for a week and we could not be happier with our experience. From first contact, to our arrival and departure, it was a pleasure to deal with Carl, the owner, and all the folks on the ground at La Amada. The apartment was "as advertised," and then some! It was clean, well equipped and very "user friendly." It is well stocked with everything you need in terms of dishes, cookware and glassware. There is an "honors" pantry with spices and other items. Use as you need and contribute what you buy but don't fully use. The furniture is comfortable and "upscale" A well-appointed apartment!

We were treated warmly by everyone there, including Christoph, the manager, Alejandra, the concierge, and all the security folk. We felt safe, secure and welcomed. The two pools, the beach club, and the Spa (at the Beloved Hotel) were all great. Christoph oriented us well and Alejandra was always ready to help with local information, including trips. Shopping for groceries, etc. meant a bit of a drive, so we were glad we had a rental car. It was also good to have a car for golf, excursions and dinners out.

Speaking of golf: golf is expensive in Cancun, especially if you pay full price. We found www.teeoff.com and got some very good deals at some great courses (including Playa Mujeres and the all-inclusive Riviera Cancun). Look for "hot deals."

We did not take up the offers of all-inclusive days (or evenings) at the close by (within walking distance) hotels, but some might find those attractive. We did arrange for a private final dinner at the La Amada Beach Club (normally only open during the day) and it was very good. You need to give 24 hours' notice, but it is a very pleasant experience and you choose your menu in advance (we were even encouraged to bring our own wine).

The two pools at the La Amada residences are very clean and pleasant. We enjoyed the rooftop one, especially. Great views! The water was a bit cool, but refreshing on those warm days. The pool at the Beach Club was likewise refreshing and a great place to relax with a drink or enjoy lunch from the modest, but tasty, menu. The staff at the Beach Club were always friendly. The beach itself (a short walk from the Beach Club) was good, but not spectacular. We each took advantage of the Spa at the Beloved hotel, where we relaxed with massages and the full spa treatment.

Overall, a great trip and a great place to stay. We highly recommend it!

Outstanding Property

  • 5 of 5

This is not your typical vacation rental. The condo is well furnished and comfortable. A " high end" property. Excellent facilities: roof top pool; short walk to beach and beach club. Adjacent to excellent spa facilities. Golf courses abundant: one within a mile of the property; and more than 20 within half hour drive.

All staff, managers, security, etc. friendly and went above and beyond to make our time on the property relaxing and enjoyable.

Beach club staff prepared a Special Dinner on our last evening after hours pool side...

Memorable time, will definitely return...

Fantastic place

  • 5 of 5

The condo was a very high end place where had everything available, impressive layout,

really well decorated with fantastic taste.

It provided everything you need to have a nice vacation.

Christoffe is an excellent manager of the property that lives in the same building and made

sure that we had an excellent time.

The beach club is secluded and beautiful pool and beach available.

The service and food at the club was outstanding and we had the best Ceviche ever.

The view to the Marina very nice and had pools everywhere, on the roof , on the bottom of the building and

in the beach club, fantastic...

Only recommendation, the tennis court needs work, because we are tennis players, and net and surface need work.

It also requires a bench to sit , a water fountain and protection on the fence so it does not get so windy and you can play.

We will return next Holiday, Cancun will become our spot in the future

La Amada Residence

  • 5 of 5

This property is beautiful, well-managed and maintained, and quiet (at least in November). This specific unit has two completely separate bedrooms and bathrooms, a spacious living room and balcony, laundry room, and compact but efficient kitchen. It is also very tastefully decorated.

The concierge for the property is very resourceful and can recommend excursions, answer questions, and provide other services -- we had a minor sea urchin injury and the concierge quickly located a medic for first aid.

There is beach service with the usual drinks and some food.

Some others in our group stayed at the Excellence but we did not want the cost of all-inclusive services, which is why we chose La Amada. We did not know how far apart we would be, but it turned out to be a five-minute walk between the two locations, either by walkway or beach. La Amada is even closer to the Beloved Hotel, which is convenient for taxis, etc.

Making arrangements for our stay was a little nerve-wracking for me because we had never been to the Cancun area before, but everything was very smooth and organized.

We enjoyed our stay very much and I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to anyone who is not looking for the all-inclusive experience.
