Also watch for moose, elk, deer, fox, coyote and variety of beautiful songbirds. The Moon Creek Cabin is literally at the end of the road. There is nothing above you but nature for miles and miles. No need to drive from the cabin, just step outside and start hiking up Moon Gulch. The peacefulness and tranquility of this cabin is unparalleled. Guests will have the entire home and property to themselves. We also offer free fishing passes to Snowline Lake, a private stocked fishing lake, about a 10 minute drive away. Please confirm you have 4wd or Awd for all booking requests during this time.

For the nature lover, there is world-class hiking, cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, back country alpine touring, snow-shoeing, climbing and fishing right out the front door. Or take a very short drive to the James Peak and Indian Peaks Wilderness Areas and experience beautiful alpine lakes, native wildflower meadows and magical subalpine forest. If you like to ride your ATV or dirt-bike, then the Moon Creek Cabin offers a unique jumping off point to explore the old mining roads of Upper Moon Gulch and the historic mining town of Apex. Ride right from the cabin!

If you prefer a scenic drive, the Peak to Peak Highway is only two miles away and you can take a 10 minute drive to the funky town of Nederland with numerous good restaurants and unique gift shops. Or drive 45 minutes north, and visit Estes Park which is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. To the south are the towns of Black Hawk and Central City, known for casinos and the Central City Opera. The progressive town of Boulder is only a 40 minute drive to the east where you can visit the famous Peal Street Mall and the hand-painted Dushanbe Tea House. Finally, we are only 75 minutes from Denver International Airport.

Rea Wrobel purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Rea Wrobel chose Black Hawk

We purchased this property in January 2014 and completely remodeled it with high-end custom finishes. We fell in love with the cabin's location (at the end of a road) and the privacy it offers as well as the small stream in the backyard.

What makes this cabin unique

Moon Creek Cabin is very private, yet only a short drive to nearby towns Rollinsville and Nederland and the big city of Denver. You will be surrounded by nature and have access to great hiking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling or ATVing right from the doorstep. There is a small perennial stream in the backyard. We are also a short drive from Eldora Ski Resort. The cabin is very secluded and there are no neighbors. If you are looking for privacy in a beautiful forested mountain setting, this is the place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin is in a beautiful quiet location with easy access to awesome ATV trails. Rea and Jeff thought of all the little details to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. They were also easy to get ahold of when we had a question. I highly recommend this cabin as a great place to get away from it all.

Great location and all the comforts of home!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is very cozy and we love where it is located. Remote, but close enough to town to go eat dinner. We enjoyed our stay at the Moon Creek Cabin! I made the mistake of not having all my info printed, but luckily was able to contact Rea and she called us back asap and all was well. My fault, but I appreciate that she was quick to help and they are nearby if needed. Would rent this cabin again!
