Married mother of 2 children.
Husband Jason is an electrical contractor.
We are french canadian, and have been living in British Columbia for about 20 years.
This was our second visit to Mee-Len and Jason's cottage. Some favourite features include the wood burning fireplace, deep bathtub, BBQ, comfortable beds, and a nicely outfitted kitchen. We love the proximity to Rails to Trails, Slocan River floating, and great swimming spots. It's also quite central for visiting Nelson, Winlaw, Slocan, New Denver, or Silverton. We had a great canoe trip on Slocan Lake. We'll be back for sure.
My husband and I stayed here for a week at the end of July. We couldn't have asked for a better cabin to spend a super relaxing vacation. The cabin is very spacious ( much more so than we were expecting) and very well maintained. Our hosts obviously take pride in the property. We absolutely will be coming back! Thank you Mee-Len and Jason!
Lots of room, private house and yard, we had everything we needed. No cell service but WiFi and landline provided. Very nice place to get away to as a family.
We came out in February for a 5 day ski trip and had a fantastic family get away. The property was very clean and welcoming and felt like a home, our little home, for the whole stay. We've made a tradition of coming out to Nelson every February to ski, but now that we've found this gem we'd like to plan a summer trip too!
Some of the things we loved were:
Close to Nelson and both local ski resorts.
Grocery store and gas station just minutes down the road.
Quiet and private.
Large full sized kitchen.
Full sized dining room.
Lots of room for the kids to play.
Pet-free and clean (allergies) with extra supplies for cleaning as we go.
TV with everything we needed there, including movies. We brought Mario Brothers and played a lot of that. We also had a lot of fun dancing with Just Dance Kids.
Washer/dryer - we found this useful for our ski gear - it was a very wet week.
Large entry way for storing ski gear that also included and extra bed if needed.
Private yard- we would love to come in the summer and check out the garden and wildlife! The kids had a great time playing in the yard, and added to the snowman that was already there!
Some very minor drawbacks were:
Somewhat hard to find the first time.
A few items missing from the house we would have liked to have but can just bring next time e.g. larger supply of cutlery, mugs and glasses, muffin tin, hair dryer, clothes iron.
We loved staying in the snowy woods for our Christmas vacation. The location was perfect, not too far from Nelson but far enough to feel like a real retreat. We enjoyed walking and cross country skiing on the rail trail by the river and driving into town for restaurants and great shopping and events.
The cottage was very well equipped, clean and decorated tastefully. A wood burning fire and deep bathtub made it so comfortable and cozy. It really feels like a home away from home, for any season. We will be back for sure!
We have been for some days to this beautiful getaway. We really enjoyed the quietnesse. Beautiful to see the nature and the squirrels and deers in the garden. The house is fully equipped and very comfortable. You can watch the mountains and only 2 km. away you can enjoy a nice trail along the beautiful Slogan river.
All the rooms in the house have everything you need.
Go to Slogan for some hiking or rent a boat. Or just drive to the Kootenay valley with the awesome lake and river. Just enjoy your stay in this marvelous cottage.
