The Hill House is located off of the highway but with no noise from it. Large decks offer views of the sprawling hills below and the mountains of Sequoia National Park above. Fully furnished & with washer and dryer, this house feels like a home.
The upper and lower decks offer a hot tub for your relaxation, and a BBQ for grilling out on your vacation.
The kitchen is newly remodeled for a clean and comfortable cooking experience, with all the cooking ware you will need.
Throughout the house there are local artists' work and pieces from the surrounding area.
Located only 3 miles from the Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park entrance, and restaurants and markets within 1 mile, there is plenty to do and see.
We took a long weekend to visit Sequoia National Park. We looked at hotels in the park and at Three Rivers. There are six of us and finding accommodation in a hotel is always hard. We found this place and it worked out great. From the front, it looks pretty small but in reality it has plenty of space. A bonus for us was the the master bedroom was a little isolated from the other bedrooms where the kids slept so it was more private and quiet. All the rooms were very large including the living room with large TV. We used netscape - there is a DVD - not sure what else since we didn't spend time with TV. The kitchen was very functional - it was a long galley style meaning there was plenty of room. We prefer home cooked meals due to taste and we know what's in them, and besides it cost less than eating out. A bonus of a house vs a hotel. We brought our own food but there is a market in town. A bit pricey but what you'd expect and would be helpful in a pinch. The place has a full size washer and dryer which we used to reduce the laundry when we got home. Everything worked as you'd expect.
All in all it was a great experience and we'd consider returning.
We spent time at Sequia Natl park and the location was 6 miles from the house which was wonderful. The deck was great and we enjoyed the stars and full moon the night we were there.
This was our 1st time in the area and we so enjoyed the Sequoia National Park and as indicated, this home is very close to the entrance. As we visited in the winter, the park says it requires chains and yes, you do have to have them and NEED them to get very far into the park. I suggest you bring them with you or get them in Three Rivers BEFORE you get near the park entrance, as they are much cheaper ($30-$40 vs $50-$60+). The visitors center was very helpful and we were able to sign up and take a guided snowshoe tour hosted by a very entertaining park ranger, for free! If it is a holiday weekend, we suggest you call a day or so ahead to make a reservation.
The house was spacious and well stocked with coffee, tea, olive oil, a few spices, dish cleaning products, shampoo, towels and helpful information about the surrounding area. Having 2 full baths with 2 adult children, was also a plus. The living room furniture was comfortable, though it looked like it could use a good steam clean. After our snowshoe experience and an 8 mile hike, we were certainly glad that this home had a hot tub! The view of the stars and the heated jets of the tub after a physically taxing day, were a real treat. The only draw back is that is not a full depth hot tub which makes it safe for children but not as comfortable for adults.
After returning home, I realized that I had left my curling iron brush and travel hair dryer. (I didn't need the hair dryer as the house had them in both bathrooms.) Upon contacting the caretaker, they graciously mailed these items back to me. We would rent this property or another in the area again. It was a wonderful get away.
We enjoyed our stay in this spacious quiet house with 2 children and 2 grand parents. The off-main-street location is still central in stretched-out Three Rivers. The views from the house are already beautiful and we had breakfast on the deck every day. The town has enough to offer, I would not call it rural. The daily drive to the park was quite a bit of fun, climbing/descending 5000 ft, lots of hairpin turns!
My 17 year old daughter and I rented this charming home for 2 nights while enjoying the sites of sequoia national park. I will say the suggestion of no cell service is right on. Our gps and cell revive went out half way thru town. We stopped at two businesses - the mercantile was most helpful. They looked up the address and sent us on our way. I tried to contact the owner but we traded messages. We found the home - looks just like the picture. We ate breakfast on the patio. Hot tub was available to use. Home had comfortable beds enough for a family 3 bedrooms - 2 bathrooms. Very comfortable. We brought some movie cd's just I case - glad we did net flicks was available the first night but out night 2 so we watched out videos. Home was clean towels nice. Only thing I would say is there are limited items in the kitchen to prepare food - the gas grill was out of gas, an oversight I'm sure, loved seeing the large bucks grazing in the yard!
