Staying in the Judge's House
All in all we had a great stay, in many ways thanks to the weather which was perfect for skiing (and that's what we came for!).
The house is VERY spacious, with many rooms for conversations and games on the first floor, and a bunch of bedrooms on upper floors.
Most of the rooms are preserved in the old style of the house's historical atmosphere. The kitchen is updated though, with a huge stove top and oven - we used those a lot.
There is one humongous master bedroom which is all updated and includes a sitting area, a huge bathroom with a hot tub, and a walk in closet.
One thing that we would probably change though is that practically none of the doors can be tightly closed or locked. Simply because they are a bit old.
The location of the house was convenient to cross country and downhill skiing areas, and a 3-minute walking distance from the old town center. Kids enjoyed walking to the country store!
Finally, our host was instantly available by text and helped us figure out questions on the spot, which was very helpful indeed.
All in all, a great stay with friends!
Two families with adult children gathered for a framily wedding. The house Pluses were: great game room, cooking kitchen, space to spread out, walk to Weston Town Center. A few Minuses: third floor windows didnt' open (hot) , 6 light bulbs burned out, many people sharing bathrooms. Overall, we would stay again.
Beautiful, spacious home in a wonderful location
We had a lovely family vacation at this large Weston house. Great location in the picturesque town of Weston. Fabulous play house with world class theater just steps from the house. Convenient location for exploring Southern Vermont. Close to several ski resorts which had plenty of summer time activities too. We especially enjoyed sister restaurants Honeypie's and Solo Farm and Table, both close by. Plenty of room for a large group with lots of living spaces and many bedrooms. House was large but still felt cosy. Kids especially appreciated the games room! Well maintained, and very well stocked. Reliable wifi! Kitchen had everything we could need. Lots of linens and towels too. Nancy was so helpful both leading up to the trip and responding to questions while we were there. Would highly recommend this rental for large families, reunions etc. Can't wait for an excuse to go back.
Perfect for a family reunion
It is a gigantic and lovely old house, well kept up. We had a lovely time and plenty of space for everybody. The pub room was fun for children of all ages (8 to 78 in our family), and was a wonderful place for the night owls to hang out as late as they wanted without waking the rest of the house.
The town of Weston is small, quiet, and charming. Not a lot of attractions immediately nearby (other than the Vermont Country Store) but that's kind of the point -- if you're after fresh air, green scenery, and a place to enjoy the company of family and friends, this is perfect. I'm sure with a bit of checking there's hiking/biking/canoeing nearby; Woodstock is within a 45 minute drive.
Beautiful weekend gettaway...
My family rented this beautiful Inn Memorial Day Weekend and it was so enjoyable! The owner, Nancy made sure it was super clean, warm and inviting, with plenty of room to spread out. She was accessible and was willing to make sure we had what we needed. We had a total of 16 spend the night and no one had to sleep on a couch. Every window has a view, the kitchen was exceptional and even had a box of spices. I'd still recommend bringing your own if you're going to cook. We saw otters playing on the bridge from the front sun room. WI-FI is available and there were things to do within walking distance; the Vermont Country Store and a couple of other shops and ice cream at the end of the street. The temperature at night got down to 36 one night on that weekend and we were perfectly comfortable. Overall, exceptional stay with lots of character. The only suggestion I would add is that I would like to see a bedroom on the first floor with a half bath close by. Only because the stairs can be a challenge for anyone older or handy-capped. Otherwise, I absolutely loved being there and would go again in a heartbeat!
