About Shen Smith

Adam and Shen are both Colorado natives who ski, snowboard, hike, run, mountain bike, golf, swim, and drag their children along for the ride! Adam graduated from Colorado School of Mines, and Shen from CU Boulder. They currently live in Denver, but spend as much time as possible traveling, whether it be to the Rockies or around the world! Shen has been managing rental/vacation properties since 2007.

'We always wanted to own a property in Beaver Creek. The area is breathtaking, and the snow is unquestionably the best of any resort in the area! When we saw this condo, we knew we had to have it. Everything from the location to the ammenities to the styling was absolutely perfect. It is unbelievably fast and easy to get onto the slopes, and the level of comfort and luxury surpasses our desires for a warm, beautiful mountain getaway only 2 hours from Denver.'

Great location; Convenient to Shuttles

Wrapped up a 5 night/6 day vacation with 3 adults -

Positives:

- Proximity to Avon Shuttle Express Stop for accessing Beaver Creek. Shuttles ran every 15 minutes and stayed true to schedule.

- Owner was responsive with our early check-in request; allowed us to store luggage in locker while the condo was being cleaned.

- Plenty of usable space for eating, relaxing and sleeping

- Close proximity to many dining options; some better than others

Opportunities:

- Steam room on property wasn't working, despite promise from building supervisor to fix breaker box

Lovely Condo

We were very pleased with our stay at this condo. It was very comfortable for our entire family. The bunk room worked great for my grandkids. The condo is very close to the shuttle for Beavercreek ski resort and since it is the first stop of several, we always got a seat for our ride to the mountain. Several very good restaurants are within walking distance as is urgent care, which unfortunately, I needed. Great condo in a great location.

Great location

Great location - walkable to restaurants and grocery stores. Beautiful property but needs some tlc for help with maintenance of the home- there were some wobbly chairs missing screws, non-functional ladders for bunk beds, etc. We enjoyed cooking meals in the well-stocked kitchen and our kids loved the board games included! We did have some difficulty reaching the owners about access codes but ultimately got a great response when we contacted them via venmo email.

Nice condo, but...

We're a family of 5 adults, flying in from Chicago on Jan. 1. We asked to check in early, and for the missing Jan. key code. Reply: condo isn't available until 4:00 because it's being cleaned. OK.

Upon arrival, we unsuccessfully tried the code in the elevator, front door, everywhere. Awkward with luggage and skis. I called the owner:They must not have changed codes because it's a holiday. Frustrating. But OK. But then we're not really in--the condo had not been cleaned. Beds unmade, waste cans full, kitchen and bathrooms dirty. So I called the owner again: Oh, they were supposed to clean it. NOT OK.

We're paying top rates and we can't get warm, shower, change clothes before dinner. We had brought food and snacks but had nowhere to eat them and no place to go until our 6:00 dinner reservation. What were we supposed to do until then, sit in our car? This was NOT OK, and I was NOT warm and affirming about this unacceptable situation, but I didn't raise my voice or become abusive. She said, I wish there was something I could do, and I said, well you can buy us a drink since we can't do anything else before dinner. She said sure, I'll do that. So we went to Montana's and each had 1 drink and shared 2 appetizers, for $52.43, or $10@. At 5:45, my daughter and I stopped in quickly to change for dinner. The nice cleaning ladies apologized that the owner had forgotten to schedule a cleaning. We felt bad that they had to work on a holiday Sunday evening.

A week later, I sent the owner a copy of the Montana's receipt. She didn't reply, so I wondered if the VRBO email expired. 2 weeks later I said I'd review and complain to VRBO. She immediately sent a long, nasty email claiming I am trying to "extort" and I should just be nice.

She's not accountable, it's all everyone else's fault: condo manager, VRBO, cleaning ladies, me. She is entitled to keep all her $$ and I should accept this situation (some call it "breach of contract") because it's a home, not a hotel. But I am not a visiting friend; I am a renter. She rents several condos for profit; it's not her "home." I paid high-season rates in advance. I kept my contract, but she didn't do her part--possession of the condo at check-in time. She's not buying a disgruntled guest a drink as a courtesy but ameliorating her failure to fulfill her rental contract, and the extra wait cost us $50, which she agreed to. But she failed to pay, berated me, doesn't accept responsibility for herself or her agents/contractors

Great Place!

The location was prime. We enjoyed being able to hop on a shuttle right across the street and get to BC in just minutes! The place had everything we needed and we loved how it felt warm & cozy. I can't wait to come back!
