Kandace Tanner purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Kandace Tanner chose East

We purchased 'Flying Horse Views' out of a love for the area.

After spending over the past two decades staying at many of the cabin rentals offered in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and of course, Wears Valley, we decided to buy a cabin for ourselves.

We thought it would be nice to offer the opportunity for other's to experience the wonderful years of memories we made on many vacations with our kids growing up and even after the empty nest came.

We love people and hope that all will come and enjoy those much needed times of refreshing at Our Cabin.

What makes this cabin unique

I fell in love with this cabin when I first saw it.

On every trip James and I took, we looked for two things, view and privacy. We usually found the view but without the privacy, or we found the privacy without the view.

Flying Horse View has it ALL with easy access roads and well maintained streets and neighborhood.

If you want it all, this cabin is busting at the seams with amenities!!

This cabin is the only place I will ever stay!!

Date of Stay

This is Me and my family's 2nd time staying at this cabin. We call it our "home away from home". The views are incredible and breathtaking. The main reason we chose this cabin the first time was for the peace and quiet it offers. I believe for most of the week we were the only ones on the mountain. The cabin is clean, and has everything you could need. All you have to get is food! Randy made our rental process so easy. We are planning on returning to the Smokies in the fall. This is the only place we will stay. If it is booked, we will choose another date, not another place.

A little piece of Heaven...

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I roadtrip once a year, and the Smoky's are the only place we've visited more than once because of its serenity when you need it...and everything in the world to do when you want it just a few miles away.

The pics of the views do no justice. It's AMAZING.

The neighbors are a bit closer than pictured, but there is still more than enough privacy...and not that many neighbors, anyway! The house itself seems like it's in the PERFECT location, and it was very clean. The air hockey & foosball tables were fun for a moment, but we seemed to stay in the wraparound balconies most of the time because the views were breathtaking. Being late August, it was too hot for the outdoor hot tub, so we can't help you there...but the indoor Jacuzzi in the master bedroom was just right in the evenings (not to mention the views right from the bed) :).

We were lucky enough to be there for the eclipse, and the cabin was right in the path of totality, so it truly felt like Heaven that day.

But most importantly, WE SAW BEARS RIGHT IN THE BACKYARD while sitting on the balcony 3 different times in 4 days! Their first appearance was within our first hour of being there! You're far enough away to feel quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to the National Park and downtown Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge.

The only "downfall" was the Wi-Fi. You can't do much with it. But if you're there to use the internet, you're in the wrong place!

All in all, this was an amazing stay. Even the locals at the nearby shops are super welcoming.

We would surely stay at Flying Horse again if they'd have us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. So glad you enjoyed your stay at our cabin! Not sure what happened with the Wi-Fi though, in that, we haven't had any issues since we changed from using Hot Spot devices to AT&T wireless high speed internet service. Any new guest must log in to access it though, and instructions were in the correspondence we sent, as well as, posted at the desk in the kitchen at the cabin with passwords. After you have logged in one time with your device, you have access for the remainder of your stay, as well as, any returning trips to the cabin. We hope to see you again in the future! Great Views of the Smoky Mountains!!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Flying Horse Views for a week in August and we had a great time! The road leading up to the cabin is crazy steep and curvy, at least for someone from the flat land of Illinois. But the views... they are Out the Wahzoo! I enjoyed my morning cup of coffee on the deck every morning. There are a few cabins nearby, but you can't really see them from the cabin so you get a lot of privacy. The cabin is clean, and the kids loved the multiple wrap around decks with the swings and the hot tub. The game room with the air hockey table and tv was also a big hit with the kids. The owners are very easy to contact and they responded very quickly.
