About the property

Working Farm

Farm is bordered by by three streams, two smaller ones, and backs up to the Catoctin creek a much larger stream for fishing and canoeing when water levels allow. Spend time watching the sheep grazing in the pasture and the “sheep parade” from the barn to the pasture. Deer are often on the property down near the streams. Red foxes can be seen crossing the corn field.

Conveniently situated just off I-70, and 2 miles outside historic downtown Middletown. Secluded and quiet – yet, practically next door from golf, shopping, restaurants, antiques, and lots more.

Enjoy all the charm and attractions of Frederick, or venture to nearby sites from the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War in four states and the District of Columbia (an easy drive).

50 minutes to Baltimore or Washington DC and Gettysburg, and only 20 minutes to the Grotto or Hagerstown Outlets. Take the MARC train from Brunswick(20 minutes) for a day in Downtown DC. Hop across the bridge to Historic Harpers Ferry, WV in 20 minutes. Hike the Appalachian Trail, tour Antietam Battlefield, or Historic Downtown Boonsboro, MD antiques, Nora Roberts venues, and more.

Greenbriar State Park is great for swimming in the lake and picnics with the family. Gambrill State Park, can't be beat for walking the dog with great vistas of the valley. There are at least five blazed trails of varying difficulty and length. If you like to ski, you'll find Whitetail, Liberty, and Round Top within forty minutes drive! For golf it will be tough to choose between Beaver Creek, Musket Ridge, or Hollow Creek or Maryland National.

Pet Friendly: There's a LARGE fenced yard and accessible from the kitchen door.

Bedrooms: 2 Fulls, 2 Twins

Common Areas: KItchen is fully equiped with all electric appliances, dinnerware, flatware and cookware. Main dining room seats eight. Family room has TV, CD, DVD, reciever, sofa , and love seat.

About Mike

Originally born and raised in Illinois I now live on this glorious farm in Middletown MD with Mike and our dog Lucy. My two sons, pictured throughout the site, are both college students and it leaves Mike and I a lot of time to work and enjoy plenty of down time on the farm

Why Mike chose Middletown

My husband Mike was born and raised on this family farm with four other amazing brothers. A good family location to create wonderful new memories of special time spent together.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Close to Baltimore/DC activities and yet also a destination in itself for anyone just wanting to relax surrounded by nature.

Historic 1800s farmhouse with an addition in the 1950s. Majority of the farmhouse has been updated, however, the kitchen/dining areas are still in need of updating. We are working on this as time permits and anticipate updates to be completed by 2016.

Wow! What a peaceful place to stay! Our family really enjoyed the relaxing environment and had a hard time adjusting to reality. The kids keep asking when we can go back or buy our own farm. Kids loved feeding and watching the animals. The owners were excellent teachers educating the kids about sustainable farming and caring for livestock and the kids happily took over the animal care by themselves the last few days! All enjoyed eating the farm fresh eggs the kids collected and we found ourselves searching for more egg recipes. A nice treat being able to take the family dog and having a nice fenced yard. The 1.5 baths that we thought would be a problem ended up creating some great memories:)

Our family reunion and a wedding!

  • 5 of 5

We traveled to Middletown MD for a family reunion for a week ending with a beautiful barn wedding! This property is loaded with stunning scenery! It has beautiful streams, and is surrounded by woods. The sunrise from the front porch is fabulous! While it is peaceful and relaxing, there is plenty in the area for families and adventure seekers to do! There was far more to explore than we had time for! The farmhouse had plenty of space for a large family gathering. Built in the 1800s, it has lovely and unique woodwork! We will certainly go back!

Perfect place to gather with family and friends

  • 5 of 5

We cannot wait to return to Fredrick. You can expect perfectly peaceful days unless you have the kids along. If that is the case, you will spending days walking, wading, canoeing, and fishing. The creek that runs through the property is fantastic! Many great memories made just messing around in the water. Very picturesque, a photographers dream. This one is for real, we will be back!
