Old Town, Alexandria, a seaport on the Potomac established in 1749 where the spirits of our founding fathers linger. Restaurants, antique stores, quaint old houses abound. The house is only a mile walk to the metro or it is a five blocks to the free trolley which takes you to the metro. Hop on and ride to the monuments & museums of Washington, DC or get a ferry boat in town to take you on a tour of the monuments from a different angle.
Down the street hop on Mt Vernon trails and take a stroll or ride your bike along the water. Two stores within two blocks, restaurants within 3 blocks of the house.. could not pick a better location.
We live her the majority of the year, but travel a lot throughout the year and on weekends. If there is a time during the week (all marked off) that you would like to stay please contact me to see if we can accommodate. We enjoy living here so much we wanted to give other people a chance to enjoy. Maps & recommendations are in a book when you enter for your enjoyment.
After so many inquiries about renting our home, we decided to move one and a half blocks closer to King street. We will now have the option to open our home year round because we have a fully finished basement, that has a separate entrance where we can stay when our guest are upstairs.
We got stationed over on the East Coast at the end of June. We attended USNA together, but only met about 2 years ago. We quickly got married and this is our second home purchased as a married couple. We own 3 other rental units in Florida.
Ru Toyama purchased this townhome in 2014
This property has amazing charm and now a brand new kitchen. It is in a fantastic location. There is not one night where there is not something going on in Old Town. We love it!
Brand New Kitchen, large backyard, and Old Town itself made us fall in love with the property.
My kids (ages 6 and 8) and I spent five nights -- with my father -- in Ru and Sharon's home, which accommodated us perfectly. The townhouse is in the quietest, most charming residential area of Old Town, with everything we needed (Whole Foods, Harris Teeter) a short drive away. Street parking was easy to find. We most appreciated the thoughtful touches -- leaving a flashlight since a storm was coming, leaving folding chairs and table (with table cloth!) since a few friends were coming for dinner. It was one of the few times we have stayed in a short-term rental and wanted to thank the owners for the service they provided to us! So thank you very much : )
we had an amnazing time in this lovely VRBO. It was convenient walking distance to all things in Old Town and was well designed and appointed.
My friends and I had a wonderful time in Old Town and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The home is absolutely beautiful, well appointed, extremely comfortable, and centrally located. We will definitely try to stay here again!
We spent 4 great nights in this beautiful house while we visited the DC area. The house is well appointed with everything you could possibly need, a great location for exploring the area and spotlessly clean. I know I could stop the review there and many people would be perfectly happy with those facts, but let's get down to the details.
As in any trip when you're choosing a home base, it's all about location, location, location. We chose to stay outside of the immediate DC area to be able to explore more of the metropolitan area. We were able to park our car, using the supplied district parking pass, and rely solely on efficient public transportation. The house is located on a quiet street that is a short walk up to King Street, the main artery for shopping, eating and transportation. On King Street you catch a free trolley to the Metro stop that will take you just about anywhere you could possibly want to go in DC. I felt like a local as we made our daily trek to the sights & delights of the Washington area. There are many shops & restaurants within a 5-10 min walk from the house and we enjoyed many! The Masonic Temple, located near the Metro, was a hidden gem of a touring stop, highly recommend the visit to the top and the tour.
The house is a beautifully renovated home with all the conveniences you miss when you stay in a boxy hotel room. While being renovated for convenience, there is still plenty of old town character from the slightly creaky, but charming, floorboards to the beautiful moldings. The kitchen is beautiful and stocked with anything you need. The Keurig coffee machine is a very nice touch with a great selection of coffees. Two well appointed bedrooms and baths gave us plenty of space and privacy. The beds and linens are comfortable and cozy. My one recommendation would be to add a bedside lamp in the 2nd bedroom for reading, the overhead light and fan is great but hard to read by! The home was absolutely spotless, clearly well kept and loved.
We did have a minor issue with our parking passes being printed correctly. I only bring this up to be able to say the owners were incredibly responsive and took care of the issue immediately & cheerfully. We whole heartedly would recommend this house to anyone wishing to visit the DC area, it was a perfect stay!
My Mother and I went for a special trip to Alexandria for Mothers Day. Actually a long weekend. We chose the Perfect house. Actually I should say Home. Completely updated to the point when I told my mom, "the owners must be interior designers, or they hired one". If you want to stay in Alexandria this is it! The owners were so friendly and generous. I can't say enough, this is it. My Mother and I will forever remember our trip and this beautiful home! The beds and bathrooms r amazing!!!!
Old Town Alexandria is the heart of the city on the Potomac River waterfront. This beautifully preserved historic district is George Washington's hometown which continues to hum with a foodie-friendly vibe loved by President Obama and the First Lady for romantic evenings. You can stroll downtown and enjoy coffee and dinner overlooking the water. Outside of Alexandria there are many attractions. You can drive or metro to DC and enjoy the Kennedy Center in Washington has opera, concerts, ballet, Many live music venues throughout the area & so much history! Museums: Air & Space, Building, American History, Natural History, American Indian, Hirschorn, National Art Gallery, East Wing, all free!!
