Worth the price and then some
This home is a warm and gracious place to enjoy the big island of Hawaii. It is located in a nice neighborhood, close to a main artery and shopping etc. The upstairs contains two bedroom suites, enabling guests to enjoy privacy in a group setting. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cookware. There is a large TV and ample, comfortable seating everywhere.
The lower level has plenty of room for an additional four guests. The lanai has the beautiful view shown in the pictures and we spent each morning watching the sailboats and keeping an eye out for whales. the yard is filled with gorgeous local flora and a clean, welcoming swimming pool. There are two separate washer-dryer units in the house.
The host, Chad, was a pleasure to deal with. The house was ready for our arrival, clean and with beds made for our use. He responds quickly and is honest and reliable. I would rent from him again without reservation.
Two small negatives are the upstairs carpeting, which is stained in places from use but otherwise fine, and the downstairs bath, which has a shower stall but may feel crowded if shared by 4 adults.
Overall, this is an extraordinary house and yard and a place that we will long remember fondly.
Great house with tons of space.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We had 8 people on our trip. Living space was big and clean. The pool was awesome. Good location to explore the kona area from. We were sad when we had to leave at the end of our trip.
Fabulous and Relaxing
We had a family reunion and the house was perfect! It is situated with an amazing view of the ocean and the sunsets. We ate all our meals on the lanai after fixing them in the well equipped kitchen. The grandkids and their parents were on the lower level and rated the pool as one of the best things about the vacation. It was heavily used! There were plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas and coolers. Great seating areas, good beds and linens, and lovely welcome from the owners. Chad was communicative and responsive so we had an excellent experience.
Spacious and homey
We just returned from 10 days on the Big Island (Feb.2-12). There were 4 adults and 4 teen-agers and we still had room left over in the house. Views are outstanding. Mornings we sipped coffee and watched surfers, parasailers and whales breeching. The evenings we soaked in the sunsets taking spectacular photos from our balcony. There is no binoculars which would have been a nice touch so if you are staying here bring your own. The pool and surrounding area is perfect. There was a lot of heavy winds and strong rip currents during our stay so the pool was a wonderful alternative. The location of the house is perfect. 10 -15 mins from snorkelling beaches and Safeway and Costco. Downtown Kailua-Kona is only 5 mins. away depending on traffic. If you are travelling with a large family or 2 smaller families then this is the house for you. The last day we were flying out at 11pm and our hosts allowed us a very late check-out (fortunately they didn't have anyone coming in right after us). We were so appreciative. Mahalo.
We rented this home for a week. It is a great home and is large, beautiful and well maintained. It was a home with plenty of room for 2 couples and 2 teenage boys. The kitchen was big and was stocked with plenty of dishes, silverware, pots and pans, etc. The deck(s) were great and each had enough furniture for 8+ people to eat meals or just relax. We spent a lot of time on the deck and ate our meals out there ... the sunsets were wonderful. The pool was crystal clear, but a little chilly to go swimming (not enough direct sunlight to keep it warm). This home is centrally located, so it was a short drive to restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, beaches, and luaus. We had a wonderful vacation in Hawaii and it was great to go back to a relaxing home each evening after having fun all day.
The Perfect Rental House
We had the pleasure of staying at this house again and was still in awe of its beauty! The house was clean and stocked with everything that we needed. We enjoyed the pool and barbecue area as well as sitting on the deck watching the sunsets. We loved the cool and comfortable open living area with high ceilings. It's also close to beaches, restaurants, stores, a bowling alley and golf courses. The owners are very accommodating and genuine and made our stay more enjoyable! Thanks, Charlene & Mike, for everything!
