Title: Trip of a life time
My Review: 20th anniversary trip for my wife and I, and we brought our 17, 13 and 12 year old kids. So we were shooting for great and spacious.... and we got it with this home. Absolutely stunning design and layout. Can sleep 8 without using couches and across 5 separate bedrooms. There is even a 9th bed outside under the veranda if you want to take an afternoon siesta. Very Clean. Mike was very welcoming upon our arrival. Lovely welcome gift basket prepared for us by Charlene with treats and helpful hints on what to do. We actually like to buy our groceries and cook a lot of our own meals, and the kitchen had everything you could want. But very close to an abundance of restaurants and shopping if you prefer. Pool is huge and warm, must be 20 x 40 feet, and not too deep - I could stand with the water at my chin and I'm 5' 7". Great wet bar if you like to socialize. So many rooms and sitting areas, both inside and out. View is fantastic -got a lot of great sunset shots and videos off the upper veranda. It takes approx 3 min for sun to set once it touches the ocean - who knew! It is better than the pictures on their site, and those were great to start with. Close to everything you could possible need. 5 minutes away from a fantastic snorkeling beach - lots of colorful fish to see, and sea turtles too. Other beaches and the volcanoes, even the whole island seems close. Worth every penny. The house is full of louvres to allow the air to flow throughout. We visited in early August so we had a few 90+ degree days with no wind, but we were able to retreat to our bedrooms which were well air conditioned where we could watch movies and read after having been out all day. Then again, we are from Ottawa Canada and we think 70+ degrees is warm and 80+ hot. Likely not a concern at other times of the year when temperatures are lower and the breeze is flowing. 3 full washrooms are perfect as our daughter had her own bedroom with washroom and the boys had their own. Master bedroom is really nice for mom and dad... need i say more. Beds were very clean and like new. 5 TVs in the house...so more than enough to enjoy down time for the kids. The house was so big, beautiful and stylish, we felt like movie stars. No bugs too! and without a chemical bomb smell. Gorgeous home. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to make their stay on Big Island be special.

We rented this home for a week. It is a great home and is large, beautiful and well maintained. It was a home with plenty of room for 2 couples and 2 teenage boys. The kitchen was big and was stocked with plenty of dishes, silverware, pots and pans, etc. The deck(s) were great and each had enough furniture for 8+ people to eat meals or just relax. We spent a lot of time on the deck and ate our meals out there ... the sunsets were wonderful. The pool was crystal clear, but a little chilly to go swimming (not enough direct sunlight to keep it warm). This home is centrally located, so it was a short drive to restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, beaches, and luaus. We had a wonderful vacation in Hawaii and it was great to go back to a relaxing home each evening after having fun all day.
We had the pleasure of staying at this house again and was still in awe of its beauty! The house was clean and stocked with everything that we needed. We enjoyed the pool and barbecue area as well as sitting on the deck watching the sunsets. We loved the cool and comfortable open living area with high ceilings. It's also close to beaches, restaurants, stores, a bowling alley and golf courses. The owners are very accommodating and genuine and made our stay more enjoyable! Thanks, Charlene & Mike, for everything!
Overal positive experience. Owners very nice. Greeted us and provided us a nice arrival and departing gift. Very sweet. Awesome pool. Great view and outdoor deck. House was clean, well organized and well stocked - they supplied toilet paper, paper towels, condiments etc. House was only a few miles from restaurants/shops.
Only knock was house could be warm (ac only in 3 bedroom) and there were some bugs despite the owners obvious effort to eliminate. Both of these issues are probably going to exist in a vast majority of homes in Hawaii and I think this house was better than most.
We recently stayed at this beautifully staged house! There were 7 adults, 3 children ages 2-4 and one 5 month old. Not once did we feel cramped or stepping over one another. The house was well equipped and clean. The kids loved the gekko that would come watch us eat every night on the lanai. Spectacular views every day! Location was adequate. Easy to find from the airport. Needed to drive to get anywhere, but I'm sure most places we would have stayed would have been the same. Lots of parking for our three vehicles.
The owner is amazing. Responds quickly to questions and helps problem solve any issues. VERY accommodating!! Our flight was scheduled to leave late at night and we had to check out of the house. So the owner was so kind enough to allow us to keep our bags at her house and let us stay at her basement suite in her house for the day until we had to leave for the airport. Having little ones this was an amazing gesture to allow us to shower, have supper, and just relax before going to the airport. This was a special family vacation for us and we couldn't have asked for a better find. Fun was had by all, wether we were out exploring or staying at the house having a day by the pool. Thank you to the owner for everything! We look forward to visiting your beautiful house again in the future.
This is a fantastic vacation home. Mike and Charlene are great hosts who went above and beyond to help us out before a late flight with four young children. We were a group of 12 with two 4yr olds, a 2yr old and a 5mo old. There was ample space for all of us. We spent as much time outside as possible playing in the pool and relaxing on the upper deck overlooking the beautiful landscape. In fact, we ate outside for every meal and were lucky enough to spot humpbacks swimming by one morning.
Our 4yr old said on two different occasions that the best part of his trip was the pool, which was very private and kid friendly as it wasn't more than 5' deep at the far end. We tried to spend the mornings at beautiful beaches (Hapuna & Kua Bay were our favourites) and then head back to the house for the warmer parts of the day to relax in the pool and the shade. If we ever get back to Kona, we'll definitely look this property up again.
The kitchen was great and well stocked with cooking items. There were two washer/dryers (one up and one down). There were plenty of bathrooms and the rooms were all a great size. We will miss Kona and this beautiful home but we took enough pictures to remind of us all the fun we had. Mahalo again Mike & Charlene.
This was a vacation that was a couple years in the making. We walked into the house after our plane ride and we all just were in awe of the view. The gift basket was a Godsend- a little snack and drinks before we headed to Costco.
We came with our Son , his wife and 2 grandchildren ages 2 and 4, and our daughter, husband and granddaughter 2 1/2 years.
The house was a perfect size for us. The adults all had our own privacy and bathroom. The kitchen, living, dining rooms and lanai were such a great gathering area- with incredible views. We ate breakfast and dinner outside everyday. It was so relaxing.
We loved the pool and yard with so many tropical plants. There were pool toys and beach towels which was awesome. We took the boogie boards to the beach a few times which was great. We made lemonade and lemon drops from the fresh lemons and ate fresh oranges and avocados.
Charlene and Mike were incredible hosts- wanting to make sure everything was going well. They even brought over a couple chairs we could take to the beach.
We will hopefully be back soon- the only place we will stay in Kona. Thanks for a great vacation.
