The house was everything we were looking for, well equipped and beautiful. We were a little disappointed with the grill, not outside and no propane tank. But unless we can find a house with a pool, we will definitely be back next year.

Lovely place but a couple things to know

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for a few days to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. There were eight of us and it accommodated us well, in terms of space. We had a great time. The house is really nice and the view is really beautiful. We spent a ton of time sitting on the enclosed back porch or in the adirondack chairs outside watching boat traffic and the weather. We did a bit of fishing off the pier and it was cool to watch the eagles landing on the nest at the house two doors down. Overall it was a great trip and a very nice house.

There are a couple things to know about this property. There is a very odd thing about this house where two of the bedrooms have these "windows" with no glass overlooking the entry hall. So they are openings in the walls. Since the main floor is an open layout, if anyone is talking anywhere on the main floor or doing anything in the kitchen, you'll hear it in either of these bedrooms. So basically you won't be sleeping if you're in one of those two rooms and people are up later in the evening or earlier the morning. It's weird and they should close off those windows.

The kitchen is stocked ok but missing a few really key items like a colander and frying pans (there's one small frying pan and that's it).

Finally, while the exhaustive contract you have to sign in advance (I've rented dozens of houses like this from VRBO and never seen a rental contract like this, it's like the kind you sign to rent the house you live in) says you'll get your deposit back in three days, it seems maybe you won't get it at all unless you ask for it. I asked about it after four days and didn't get a reply until nearly two weeks after we left the house and she issued it then. That's very lame. In our case, it was a huge deposit -- it was $800 for the house plus a $250 pet deposit. It felt dishonest that it took so long for them to return the deposit and then only because I asked about it.

Had a great family reunion here. Lovely waterfront views and well equipped kitchen, our kids fished off the dock, kayaked and played on the spacious lawn. This is great for families looking to enjoy a quiet reunion with great water views.

Good experience

  • 4 of 5

This was a family weekend getaway for our mother's 70th birthday. Few of us have been to Kent Island before so we enjoyed the drive (surprisingly close from Baltimore and Silver Spring areas) and found the house easily. Overall, we had a great time. The house had all necessary amenities even a very full linen closet, which is unusual these days. Unfortunately, the Pier had fallen a few days before we arrived due to heavy rains. There was a terrible smell associated with the repairs. This event however, did not taint our stay nor distract from the cool house. When the weather finally cleared up we still enjoyed the back yard and surrounding beach areas. We were not looking for fun and excitement in the city- just a place for out family to hang out and relax. We got just that and thoughroly enjoyed the weekend.

A beautiful stay for my holiday!

  • 5 of 5

My immediate family and I always travel to the Eastern Shore of MD for Thanksgiving because of the spectacular views and the intimate feel of the area. This year we decided to stay at a rental home for the holidays, and it was the best Thanksgiving vacation we've had in quite some time! Not only was it easy to book, there were lots of amenities on site and locally. My daughter and I went shopping at the outlets on Friday which was only a short drive away, and my husband and two sons stayed back and fished off of the beautiful dock....right out back! They didn't even have to bring their own fishing poles! I can't wait to come back next Thanksgiving, we might even have to stay in the summer time!:)
