About the property

Oceanfront 1 bedroom+, 1 bathroom with stunning ocean and mountain views.

Welcome to the condo I refer to as my little piece of paradise! If you're looking for a convenient, comfortable quiet place to spend your time on Maui, this is the condo for you. The unit is a short 15-20 minute ride from the Kahalui airport and is centrally located and easily accessible from Kahalui, Wailuku, Kihei and Lahaina. The Maalaea resort area is adjacent to Maalaea Harbor, a small harbor and shopping area from which depart some of the best sailing and whale watching cruises in the world. Watch the boats come and go, the surfers riding the 'Freight Train', one of the world's fastest rideable waves, the sea turtles feeding and, during whale season (November - April), watch the playful antics of the majestic humpback whales, all from the privacy of your lanai. Combine all of this with the beautifully manicured tropical grounds, oceanfront pool and shared gas grills with outdoor dining areas and you will look forward to coming 'home' after a day of seeing all that Maui has to offer.

From the moment you enter the unit, you will be drawn to the spectacular view of the ocean and harbor from the living area and lanai. You're so close to the ocean that you can hear the surf all day and night, even back in the bedroom. Once you're done taking in the views, take a moment to peruse the place you'll call home for the next few days: the California king bed and custom closet in the master bedroom, the newly outfitted bathroom, the fully-equipped kitchen with views of the ocean and breakfast bar dining, the living area with a queen sofa sleeper and dining table and the lanai where, if you're anything like me, you will spend most of your time! When that Maui heat just gets to be too much, come in from the lanai and turn on the air-conditioner in the living room; the view is almost as good inside!

Within walking distance of the condo are some fine restaurants: Beach Bums bar and Grill and Seascape Restaurant. There are also two darling little grocery stores/delis when you just need something quick and don't want to get in the car to run to the store. The Maui Ocean Center, a top-rated attraction in Hawaii (Zagat Survey's U.S. Family Travel Guide) is within walking distance too, as well as Maui Golf & Sports Park, with miniature golfing, rock climbing, bumper boats and extreme trampoline jumping. Additionally, a short walk down the road is Haycraft Park and the head of Sugar Beach, the longest continuous beach on the island, stretching from Maalaea to Kihei and a nice, quiet area with calm water. There's great snorkeling in this area due to the coral reefs located close to shore. And turtles everywhere, all year long.

Amenities of note:

* Washer and dryer in unit

* Hi-def TV's in living area and bedroom, with cable

* Hi-speed wifi internet

* ceiling fans in living area and bedroom

* iron & ironing board

* hair dryer

* beach towels and two beach chairs

So you can choose to go out to see some of Maui's fabulous attractions or stay 'home' and enjoy a day poolside or visit some of the amenities nearby. But no matter what you do, I hope you come to feel that this unit is a comfortable home away from home and that Maui no ka oi (Maui is the best)!

About Teri Ram

I live in St. Louis and try to get to Maui as often as possible. I hate to say it, but I've been coming to Maui for almost 40 years and it really is my second home. With one child in college and another not far behind, I look forward to the time when I can become a Maui snowbird and enjoy the wonderful island life for as long as possible.

Teri Ram purchased this condo in 2014

Why Teri Ram chose Wailuku

When I was in high school (a long, long time ago), my parents purchased a house in Kihei, so I spent a number of vacations on this beautiful island. My parents retired to that house in the '90s and began investing in real estate shortly thereafter. This is one of the investment properties I inherited and it's come to be my secret 'favorite'. I can virtually guarantee that you won't find any property closer to the ocean than this one. Property is not even allowed to be built this close to the water anymore! The unobstructed view of the water is unparalleled.

Perfect Condo & Location

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated our 20th Anniversary and we couldn't of asked for anything better. The condo was super clean, well equipped, and simply beautiful. We spent most of our time on the balcony overlooking the ocean. The property is super quiet and just a great place to relax and unwind. And it's in a great location in between Lahaina, Kahului, and Kihei. We will certainly be back. Thanks Teri for making our vacation absolutely perfect!

Nice, clean condo with all accessories including towels, beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie board. Great central location with easy access to Kihei, Lahaina, Kahului and Wailuku. Waterfront and harbour view from lanai is spectacular. Enjoyed our stay here very much.

I have no complaints about this property, everything was clean and as demonstrated in the pictures.

This was our first experience with a VRBO and was a very enjoyable one. We will definitely consider this when we do our next location. I highly recommend it. Staying here was a good alternative to traffic and noise of other places such as Kihei. We liked that it was quiet except for the natural sounds of the water. The condo was comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped with anything you could need. This was a good experience for both of us.

Great for what we needed

  • 5 of 5

Teri's condo was perfect for us two. We took a kidless vacation for 6 days at her condo. It's nicely furnished, kinda funky but I liked it. It's centrally located and we could get to Wailea, Lahaina and Kihei in 20 minutes depending on traffic. We also took a Pacific Whale Foundation snorkel trip which left of the Maalaea harbor so we walked to the boat early morning which was super awesome and convenient. The weather while we were there was hotter than usual for June (we were told this by locals) but windy so there was a cross breeze if we opened the front door and the deck sliding door. We really only used the air conditioner at night on low but it didn't really reach the bedroom. We slept with the ceiling fan on and a normal fan in the bedroom to keep cool while sleeping. I'm not sure this condo would've been good for 3 people. I think I'd stay elsewhere if we would've brought our 13 year old. We, in particular, would need more space. The TV in the bedroom (it looked brand new too) didn't work and we tried EVERYTHING to get it working but it didn't. Teri was super apologetic and was going to get that issue fixed right away.

A couple things I was surprised that the condo was missing were washcloths, a decent cooler (there was a red and white one but it was SO tiny) and a spatula! I bought 2 grey washcloths and left them there. There's a pancake flipper but no actual spatula (unless I couldn't find it). We did breakfast at the condo each morning so that spatula would've been nice to have. They have 2 nice Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrella to use.

If this is your first time to Maui, GO TO COSTCO!! I did like Teri's suggestion to go to the condo FIRST then go back to Costco or the grocery store after you figure out what the people before you have left behind. We didn't get very lucky; there wasn't a single thing in the fridge and NO laundry soap either. I bought a huge laundry soap from Costco so whoever was in the condo after us (and after them and after them!), SCORED! Also left drinks too that we couldn't finish.

Overall, my we had a great time. We love Wailea (The Shops at Wailea) and the beaches there. Make sure you go to Tommy Bahama to eat! Also, Lapperts ice cream is sooo good. A line forms EVERY NIGHT! Also, Sugar Beach is SO awesome and NOT crowded. I wish we would've had more time to spend on this beach.

Amazing stay we won't forget!

  • 5 of 5

First and foremost the location of this condo is hard to beat! We made easy trips to Kihei and Lahaina on a daily basis during our stay, and came back to what always felt like our own private beach. The view from the lanai is gorgeous and it has the perfect setup for early morning breakfasts. The reports of sea turtles swimming right by the lanai are no joke! We stopped counting them after a while, they were such an abundant and reliable presence.

We definitely appreciated all the kitchen tools and utensils for cooking our own meals and making drinks, too. The only thing we missed was a kettle for tea. So we enjoyed some Maui coffee instead using the coffee maker.

The directions for accessing the condo were very helpful and we liked that there was a dedicated parking spot in a covered garage. It has a foot wash nearby for rinsing off beach sand - also super useful.

All in all it was a wonderful experience, and we are so glad to have chosen Teri's condo as our home base during our trip!
