Built in 1804 by inventor Oliver Judd this house has stood the test of time. Over 3,500 Sq' of luxury. I have an exceptional kitchen, 5 bathrooms, a living room and sitting room, formal dining room and 4 + bedrooms. You'll find this an exceptional home to launch from every morning.
Conveniently located 14 miles from Cooperstown, 60 from Albany it is easy to get to. The 1 1/2 acres allows for a nice place for kids to play but still in the safety of my property.
Walk to 4 restaurants in minutes.
I love to cook and especially bake as I used to own a bakery. My kitchen has been the testing ground for hundreds of recipes over the 27 years I've lived here. I love flowers as you can tell by my front yard. The front porch is a relaxing place to have your morning coffee and interact with the friendly neighbors.
I can sew almost anything and have made many of of my own clothes and many of the window treatments for the house as well as bed covers. I love Opera and have housed performers, directors and musicians from the Glimmerglass Opera over the years.
When I am not caring for this home I take care of elderly in their homes.
Joan Helm Noonan purchased this house in 1986
My home was built in 1804 but it has all the modern conveniences you want for your family while traveling.
I love travel and know how hard it is to find the right spot to stay in while on vacation. Is it big enough? Do we all get a nice bedroom? Are there enough bathrooms? Is it conveniently located? Can I live here as if my own home and have what it takes to enjoy my friends and family?
My home affords everyone a bathroom instead of waiting on line for an hour. The bedrooms are quite nice and all on the second floor. With many places to sit one can read in quiet while others enjoy their TV.
You can whip up a great meal in the kitchen or on the BBQ and eat indoors or out.
The park like setting of the 1 acer back yard allows for a great place to hit the ball around, lay on a blanket and read or just sit on the bench and listen to and watch the birds.
4 + bedrooms
Historic charm with modern amenities.
Furnished with many of the antiques from the original family you will enjoy the tranquility of my home. 15 minutes to Cooperstown or opera make it the best of both worlds. You get a very affordable location, terrific house and a good night's sleep.
Four families recently rented this home for a week during Cooperstown tournament as our boys were in the tournament. I honestly can say that this home is very well laid our for 5 families that demand their privacy and own bathrooms. All 5 families can have their own bathroom, with 3 of them being in the room itself. The 4th room upstairs just has a bathroom down the hall and very convenient. The 5th bedroom has it's own bathroom but downstairs.
Home was very clean. I was worried at first hearing that it was pet friendly as my youngest son is allergic to dogs and usually gets short of breath and itchy eyes, however, he didn't have any problems during the 7 night stay.
Only cons are that it's not the shortest drive to Dreams Park. Takes about 21 minutes, but the drive isn't bad at all and you don't pay the higher rates vs the homes that are close by Dreams Park. Secondly, you will have to do your laundry at the local laundromat. We didn't find that as too much as an inconvenience because there are laundromats in Cooperstown/Milford etc and we were out and about there anyways.
Neighborhood is very peaceful and friendly. There is a very good breakfast place walking distance from the home that you can go to get a fast and quality breakfast. Also a gas station with a Subway. There are more but those are the only ones we experienced.
The owner, Joan, is awesome. She's very easy to communicate with has thought about her renters. There are fans, flashlights in every room. That's going above and beyond if you ask me. She even called one day to make sure our stay was going well. That goes a long way.
Overall, I highly recommend staying in this home for teams or multiple families who want their own privacy, own bathrooms, and a home that has a great layout and very clean.
We had a large group and this house was a great fit for us, even our dog loved all the space.
The kids had a large grassy area in which to play, it was safe from the street, which was important to us.
I would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Cooperstown.
Having a pet that travels with us we were immeadiatly relieved to see how our dog loved Joan. We enjoyed our family gathering and with 4 bedrooms and a bathroom for each of us we never waited for one. The large 1 1/2 yard and all the walking paths around the village made it easy to walk our pup.
Actually,, we never had to get in our cars after our arrival because we could walk to church, the stores and many restaurants.
We highly recommend The Judd Hosue for any family who wants a taste of the old with all the features of a new home.
Cherry Valley is an easy 15 minute drive to Cooperstown, NY. You get the peace of being in a small village and the convenience of being close to other cities.
This is an historic village and played a significant role in the western migration.
