Light-Filled Hilltop Home in the Berkshires on 100 acres with Private Lake

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,700 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Looking for the perfect spot for a getaway with family or friends? This spacious home in the Berkshires offers beauty, privacy and comfort. A long, densely wooded driveway opens to a private four acre lake and a lawn that sweeps up to a modern country house with a wraparound porch. Light pours in through glass doors that surround the open-concept first floor. You will enjoy the conviviality of a large kitchen that flows into a dining area with a farmhouse table that can accommodate 8 guests, and a sprawling yet cozy living room with fireplace.

The porch will draw you outside to enjoy the gorgeous views that stretch all the way to the Catskills.

On the west side of the house, the porch is screened, so you can feast on a barbecue at the outdoor tables and watch the stunning sunsets. If a night chill sets in, light a fire in the outdoor fireplace.

Ideal for family gatherings or groups of friends. There are two separate two-bedroom suites on the second floor. The rooms on the East side of the house each have two single beds, the rooms on the West side of the house each have queen beds. Each of the 4 bedrooms has its own private bathroom and shower. There is also an extra room on the ground floor furnished with a daybed and a bathroom with a roomy tub. This room can also be used as an office/TV room.

Additionally, there is a large basement/playroom that sports a ping-pong table plus plenty of toys available for children.

Outdoors, you can enjoy a game of soccer, croquet, volleyball, basketball on the back lawn, or have fun jumping on the trampoline. Perhaps you'll be drawn down the hill for some swimming, canoeing or fishing (catch and release only, please) in the lake. On snowy winter days, the hill makes a fantastic sledding slop.

You are centered in 100 acres of wooded-lands where a rare man-made sight is noticeable (a recent cell-phone tower's blinking light might be noticed some 70 miles away from the property since 2014 and Rensselaer in the winter). Sounds are either crickets, coyotes on a hunt, bumble bees, birds, falling trees, wind and rain, a lady-bug, private planes flying above, or the copper roof snapping to temperature changes at sun-fall.

* Please note that in winter you will need a vehicle with AWD or 4WD.

4 couple foliage weekend

  • 5 of 5

The house and property are better than described.Very comfortable house.Even the "grumps" in our group loved it. The large dining and living area is perfect for a group for hanging out. There are 4 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom (en suite), something you almost never see. We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen was well equipped, including spices, oils etc. Great view. The house sits at the top of a hill, with a well manicured lawn sloping down 100 yards to a clear pond/lake. There's a canoe. The pond is swimmable.Mountains in the background. There's a garden at the side of the house and we were invited to help ourselves to raspberries onions etc. We enjoyed the ping pong table in the basement. Porch on 4 sides, including one side with a large screened porch and fireplace. Fae was very friendly, accommodating and quick to respond to questions.

While we didn't have any kids with us, there is a trampoline, stuff for toddlers, games, puzzles and a tennis court. If you're interested in beauty and serenity (the place is off the beaten path), go for it. Dividing the cost among a number of couples/families makes the price quite reasonable.

Amazing house to stay in with friends

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the house with 3 couples and it was truly perfect. A lot of love has been put in the house, we loved the cosy feeling. On these first rainy autumn days we could just stay in by the fireplace, play games, enjoy some home cooked food (amazing kitchen!), which was all we needed. Also managed to play some tennis and swim in the lake. Perfect house, really!

Fantastic escape!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking to get away from the daily grind, this is the place to do it! Serene mornings out on the deck, enjoying a cup of fresh brewed coffee and listening to the surrounding woods was the best.

If it gets too hot, go down to the lake and have a soak or paddle around in the canoe. I saw lakes/ponds on other properties that were green with algae, but not here, the water is crystal clear. Hiking through the woods here is also a treat.

There were 7 of us and even then we had a spare room, of course we had 4 kids, so they sometimes slept 3 to a room.

Fae helped us tremendously and made our stay very enjoyable. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely try to stay here once again.

Wonderful stay. Spent 3 nights with three couples, two children and a puppy. Everyone had a relaxing long weekend (even despite uncharacteristically bad weather)

Fae was very responsive and accomodating

We are already planning on going back again next year!
