Felt at home immediately
I already knew this was going to be one of our best VRBO experiences (and we've had many, all great), because of how delightful and helpful Fiorella was in all our pre-travel correspondence. Then, from the moment we stepped off the plane and met the warm and delightful Szylvi who was waiting to drive us the the apartment, we knew perfection! Szylvi showed us important sights as we entered the city, and gave us grocery and Metro and getting around tips as well. The apartment is on a fun, happening street with stores and restaurants and theatre and the Main Drag of Budapest within a heartbeat nearby. The view from the apartment windows of St Isztvans and the Parliament Building lit up at night feels like the ultimate luxury, and the apartment itself is in fact a luxury. Very spacious, best equipped kitchen of any VRBO we've stayed, lots of storage, nice firm bed, and there is even nice china (as if I would dare touch those cups!).....From the very first day of sightseeing, we were using the words, "going home" as we headed back to this very central, very lovely apartment. When we departed Budapest, dear Szylvi was there at a hideously early hour to pick us up and get us to the airport, still cheerful. Highly recommend!
Sharon has been the highest quality chatting guest, interested and entertaining with her experiences and suggestions. We really hope to meet Sharon somewhere, sharing travel excitment. Thank you, Sharon and Harvey.
Nice clean apartment in great location
The apartment is very conveniently located, near some of the key sites and with easy public transportation nearby. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the Basilica dome at night. The lift was great for getting luggage up to the top floor and a relief after long days of walking all over Budapest. The apartment is spacious and clean. Even with some confusion about arrival time, we were graciously greeted. With a cople of fans and good cross-ventilatin, the apartment stayed very comfortable even on hot days.
With a couple of minor upgrades, I would add another star. The fitted sheet was so worn that it would not stay on the mattress. Some new bed linens would make a big difference. The handle on the kitchen sink would benefit from being tightened (it fell off if we weren't careful). Each of thse can be easily addressed.
Light sleepers should be warned that revelers leaving the bars and restaurants late at night are noisy. This may not be an issue in cooler weather with the windows closed, but it was loud around midnight each night. Unfortunatey a nearby construction project added early morning noises.
We enjoyed our stay but would pack earplugs if we planned on leaving sindows open at night!
Excellent spacious apartment in a great location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment in Budapest. It is in a good location, within easy walking distance of the hub of Budapest and the River. We had room to move and everything works well.
District 6 is the place to be!
I consider finding this centrally located, perfectly charming, one bedroom apartment a great find. My wife and I used this location as our base during a 13-day visit to Hungary. Fiorella and Gianna's apartment is located on the 3rd floor, accessible by a two-person lift or the gorgeous stairway from the street level. You enter through the kitchen, which then leads into the dining/living area. The bedroom is to the right of the dining area. A bathroom/laundry is off the area between the kitchen and dining areas. Through the windows in both the living room and bedroom, are wonderful views of St. Stephen's Basilica. The church is within easy walking distance. Perhaps one of the best surprises was the washing machine. Though small, it worked perfectly and keep us in clean clothes. A great factor about being on the third floor is the breeze. Budapest can get quite humid and warm but having that morning and evening breeze filter through the apartment was very refreshing. Also, you are three stories removed from the late night noise from the weekend Stags and Hen parties making merriment through the streets after the bars have closed down. If air conditioning was available I would never have heard anything, but by closing the two windows and the wooden shutters you can make a big dent in the noise. There was one fan available to use, we had asked for an additional fan but there seemed to be a problem with making that happen. A new fan showed up but it did not work as the local manager said it was missing parts. She never returned to assist. We used the kitchen quite a bit as there is a large Aldi and Spar grocery store nearby. There are also a number of little stores to pick up supplies as well. There are also several restaurants - cheap eats to high-end dining surrounding the apartment. I believe that one of the key features of this location is how close you are to all forms of public transportation - tram, bus, metro, ferry, and train station. Within a block, you can also rent a scooter, a bike, or a car. I'll just say this... the Budapest transit system rocks! Download the app for the system, go to the transportation station a couple of blocks away and buy a travelcard for the number of days you will be in town. It is quite cheap but it makes traveling around the city a snap. This apartment has all you could need to conveniently explore this wonderful city! I have a number of B&W photos of the apartment if requested.
Lovely bright apartment of character good location .
Helpful owners of this lovely apartment made our stay very enjoyable with good advice on places to eat and visit. Budapest is very walkable but the hop on off bus was great for info and tired legs!
Beautifully situated in the heart of Pest on a lively street. A short walk to excellent food and entertainment. We stayed for 2 weeks and could have stayed 2 more. Street noise can be a bit much if your looking for an early evening but the thick walls and double windows reduce it to low murmur.
From the apartment you can visit by feet the most important monuments, you are right in the cultural centre of the city. Very easy to move by public transportation: the three subway lines (Opera or Deak ter) and the main tramway lines are nearby (Oktogon).
As everybody knows, the city is rich of history and culture and there are many museums and monuments to visit, for anybody inclination and taste. You cannot leave Budapest if you haven’t visited (in any season) at least one of the thermal spa that are all over the city: it will be a bath of comfort and also an opportunity to observe the customs of the inhabitants and share with them this fantastic occasion of relax. Further suggestion concerns gastronomy: Budapest is well-known for excellent cooking and is full of elegant restaurants and traditional ones. In the surroundings of the apartment there are many different options: the elegant and frequented restaurants of Listz square and Andrassy avenue or the traditional places in the Jewish district nearby, and also the places where the young and students go, to listen music and inquire about the trendy cultural events. Also, we suggest to visit the city renting a bike: in Budapest there are plenty of cycle tracks. It will be a different way to get in touch with the city, to go through less known routes and discover the characteristic architecture and many hidden enchanting spots.
