Our Sunday House: secluded, 1500 yards from downtown restaurants and shopping.

Bedrooms 3
Space 2,000 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Bright open floor plan with wood floors, skylights and minimalist decorations.

2000 square feet constructed in 1989 and upgraded recently. A large open living, dining and kitchen area; a large queen master bed room, a large queen guest bedroom, a large two twin bed guest bedroom and two full bathrooms with tub/shower all on the main floor. In the basement there is a one car garage, a utility room with washer and dryer, and adjoining bathroom with commode and shower stall. It is located at the corner of a quiet neighborhood street and a private drive in the outskirts of town on the high ground where the river bottom farmlands begin. It is very much away from the din.

About Tom Traywick

Tanne and I were born and raised in the SC low country. Escaping the summer heat by traveling to the mountains of WNC was something we always enjoyed. We moved to this area when Tanne retired after 28 years as a teacher. I am mostly retired from my consultancy as a funding compliance analyst for public school districts.

Tom Traywick purchased this house in 2013

Why Tom Traywick chose Smoky Mountains

We have been offering Our Mountain House (VRBO Listing #410757) since 2009; and when we discovered this property last fall we instantly realized how well it would fit into our game plan. We dubbed it Our Sunday House and here it is for you.

What makes this house unique

It is bright, open, airy; in a very quiet neighborhood; and a pleasant walk to town.

Music, arts and dining in Brevard and Asheville (30 minutes) are terrific. We are an hour from Greenville SC, 2 hours from Charlotte NC and 3 hours from Atlanta.

The Brevard area includes the highest concentration of waterfalls in the world, over 100,000 acres of public parks and forests (public lands such as Caesar’s Head State Park, Jones Gap State Park, duPont State Forest, Pisgah National Forest, and Gorges State Park), and the internationally acclaimed Brevard Music Center.

And the Brewery Tour at Oskar Blues is worthy if you are so inclined - and ride their free trolley service from Brevard to Asheville. The Sierra Nevada Brewery is a destination for dining and the brewery tour.

Beyond excellent

  • 5 of 5

We've been coming to Brevard NC from Canada for 4 years as our son received a lacrosse scholarship . Tom's house is hands down the nicest we've come across. Our last visit was for 2 weeks and it truly felt our home away from home. He has provide everything you'd need to enjoy your time there. A fresh bowl of fruit was there upon our arrival.

This is a must property to rent if you're staying in Brevard. There was not even 1 thing to improve on.

Great home and location to explore Brevard and the surrounding area.

This is our second time staying here. You immediately feel at home as soon as you walk in the door. The location is very central to explore the town Brevard and all of the surrounding areas to hike. After a long day of hiking we enjoyed cocktails out on the screen enclosed deck while watching the white squirrels play.

Really enjoyed my stay. Loved the fenced yard and screened in porch. Only one small quibble: bed in master was a bit squeaky.

Beautiful house and setting in a nice quiet neighborhood.

Renting the Sunday House was an amazing experiences and made our stay in the Brevard area that much better. If you are in the area and want to experience seeing the white squirrels it is the place to be. We were able to enjoy coffee and drinks on the screened porch and watch the white squirrels playing everyday we were there. The house was immaculate, nicely furnished and had everything we could want. We would definitely rent again if we were in the area.
