About Paul McDevitt

We are a couple originally from the East Coast, but have been living in Seattle since 1992. We have owned our 1904 Queen Anne style Victorian cottage in central Seattle since 1997. We love our house, we love to entertain and we love Seattle. So, we want to share our knowledge of the city with visitors.

Travel is a big part of our life. We know what it's like to have a home away from home. I (Paul) have been to 44 of the 50 states, Mexico, Canada, Europe (Italy, UK, France, Switzerland, Spain, The Netherlands, and Russia), and SE Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, & Bali). We would love to travel to South America, Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Turkey, Germany & Eastern Europe. We also like road trips in the US. We did a 4,000 mile road trip to Indiana and back in 2011. We did one in the Southeast (Charleston, Savannah, Asheville, Raleigh, and Gatlinburg) last year. Our next one will be to southern Utah and the many beautiful national parks.

Other than travel I am passionate about architecture, sustainable development, urban planning, design, maps, social and economic justice, All Pilgrims Christian Church, Community Lunch/Supper (serving meals to homeless and hungry on Capitol Hill), Plan USA (we sponsor a child in Vietnam through this charity that is fantastic!). I could go on and on...

Why Paul McDevitt chose Seattle

Our house has charm and we have lovingly renovated it over the past 17 years on what feels like a continual basis. There is just always something to do! A little project here a big project there. We have the house the way we want it and we want to share our pride and joy to everyone who feels the same way about our lovely old Victorian.

What makes this apartment unique

The house is located just a mile from downtown, but it feels like it is in a secluded woods. We have made it very private so that you don't feel like you are in a city. When we first moved to Seattle we had to give up our concept of 'city.' Seattle is so green if feels more like a park than a city. We hope you decide to stay and see for yourself.

Excellent alternative to staying in downtown

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and found the accommodation to be very good. Was a bit suprised to find that it was contained in the house as it was listed as "garden cottage" so thought it was self contained. Everything was very good and the hosts were very helpful and even gave us a lift to the station early in the morning on the day of our departure!

Breakfast food was provided as well as use of the Orca card to use for the public transport system. The location is in easy access of buses and supermarkets as well as some restaurants.

Overall a great stay and recommend for a stay in Seattle.

Great place to stay!

Quiet and relaxing location. Great amenities. Continental breakfast provided which made our stay so easy. Property owners picked us up upon arrival to Seattle and took us to the Amtrak station. If returning to Seattle, I will look no further than this property.

It was the perfect place for a quiet weekend away!!

  • 5 of 5

The hosts have a great place here. It's cute, quaint, and quite cozy. Perfect for one or two people looking for all the comforts but want to not cook for themselves. The artwork all over is very eye catching and entertaining. Comfortable furniture and I had great nights of sleep. They are a very gracious and welcoming couple. The details are important too, marking the fruit in the refrigerator that it has already been rinsed, due to no kitchen sink. They think of everything and know what they are doing and how to look out for their renters. Very clean and tidy. Great customer service so I will be booking again. So convenient to EVERYTHING. Even a hot tub to use to soak in at night and wind down. Letting me check out late is beyond wonderful. Thank you for a wonderful peaceful stay.

Goleta, CA.

Very comfortable at the best price.

We enjoyed staying in this location. We were at my niece's wedding and we were close to everything. The heating works great because it was down to 21 degrees at night. It was nice to have tea and a muffin in the morning. Perfect.
