Another great stay...

  • 5 of 5

Our family just stayed at the Bear Pine cabin for the second time and it was perfection once again. It is located in a very quiet area, walking distance to the pier (which is a great place to watch the sunrise, or enjoy the sunset), a couple of nearby hiking trails, and a short drive to everything else - one of our favorite spots to spend the day is Meek's Bay just a few miles south, and we recently discovered the Rubicon Trail hike this past trip - beauty at it's finest. A bit further down the road is Camp Richardson for Ice Cream - a must-have treat after a long morning hike :-) Just a few miles north of the cabin is Sunnyside for an evening meal, or the Fire Sign Cafe for delicious breakfast or lunch.

We've been vacationing in Tahoe for 23 years and this is by far a favorite place to stay when it's available. It's clean, comfortable, cozy, and has everything you need for a fabulous stay, including an outdoor fire pit to enjoy on cold evenings, or a entertaining game of croquet if you're up for it. On top of all that, Katherine is quick to respond and very accommodating, answering any and all questions one might have. The best!

Perfect. Fresh. Modern. New. Clean. :-)

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six (four teenagers and two parents) stayed 10 nights in the "Bear Pine Cabin" with ease.

It was perfect, and our favorite place thus far on our fourth summer trip to Lake Tahoe.

On the website, it seemed small based on square footage, and the pictures. We were surprised that the floor plan worked perfectly, with the right space allocated to the common downstairs areas and master bedroom.

It was clear to me that the the owner, Katherine, has a keen sense of modern and tasteful decor, attention to details, and vested in the continuous improvement of her property. I appreciated the modern, non-cluttered appliances, furniture, and decor, tasteful and simple decorations, well stocked kitchen with high end pots, pans, and utensils, and the property and landscaping that provided just enough distance and privacy from neighboring homes. I loved sitting with coffee on the patio each morning. The view of the lawn and trees from the master bedroom is beautiful.

The location is a perfect split on the West Shore between Rubicon bay and down town. The walk to the lake is short, and there is a private access to the community dock. It is also a short walk to Eagle Rock, which is perfect for a late night hike to see the stars from a cliff overlooking Lake Tahoe with hot cocoa. We hiked Cascade Falls (lots of pools and little falls to scramble on... make sure you see the view of cascade lake from the falls, and stop at Obexers on your way to stock up on hard salami, a variety of cheeses, and Pale Ale to ice in the water) and Eagle Lake (enjoy an icy swim to the island!), and used what we saved renting this property to rent a pontoon boat from West shore Cafe for the day saw eagles nests nesting along the shoes of Emerald Bay and climbed to the "Tea House" on Fannette Island. Also, we love sitting along the Truckee River at Bridgetender, enjoying cold beer and decadent burgers.

Katherine was highly responsive (always in less than a day) and personal when we communicated. She tried to arrange a bear mauling for my youngest son, in jest, who is fascinated by the bears that break intro Tahoe homes.

I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.

We loved it! :-)

Owner's Response: Bifford - so glad you and your family enjoyed your time at the cabin. It sounds like you did all of the best West Shore activities. We also love the star gazing from Eagle Rock - and the sunrise is amazing as well. As for the bears, we have been known to have a few bear parades through the yard in summer and fall, so hopefully on your next visit, your son will be able to catch a glimpse of them. Thanks and hope you will return for another summer Tahoe getaway at Bear Pine cabin.

Wonderful Week!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week in this cabin! Loved the Tahoe Pines subdivision as it was so convenient to all the activities we did. Biked to Tahoe City, Drinks at Chambers and West Shore Cafe, rented paddle boards at West Shore Rentals and enjoyed an afternoon on the beach at Meeks Bay. The cabin was clean, well equipped and comfortable for our small family. Thank you for sharing your lovely little gem with us.

Owner's Response: Teri - I'm glad to hear you and your family enjoyed your time at the cabin. Meeks Bay is beautiful for the beach and the hiking into Desolation Wilderness. And West Shore Sports is a great place for rentals of paddle boards and cruiser bikes. We hope you will return next summer for another visit.

Wonderful Cabin for Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband, young daughter, and I just stayed at this cabin for a week and we absolutely loved it. The cabin itself is extremely well maintained and comfortable. It was wonderful having an outdoor space for our daughter to play.

The location was perfect for our needs - set back from the highway it was quiet, but an easy walk to the lake and Tahoe City is just a few minutes up the road. We had a fabulous vacation and hope we can come back in the future!

The owners take such wonderful care of this cabin! Very clean and didn't feel like a rental. It felt like someone's home. Everything is good quality and well organized. It's really small, but well laid out. Location is great. Loved it!

We stayed in this beautiful cabin for 4 nights at the end of January. It was very comfortable, clean and updated. The beds were comfortable, the cabin warm and very well stocked with everything you would need. Loved the location and would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to the area.
