Why Ray chose Portland

I have lived in Sellwood for over 10 years and want to share (show off) this great neighborhood with other folks. At one time Sellwood was its own town, and in most ways, it still feels like it. It has a great friendly vibe of the 'old days' people are always quick with a hello or a smile. It's one of those neighborhoods you don't even need a car in - great shops, grocers, restaurants, wonderful parks, near the river, bike-friendly, pet friendly and wonderfully kept homes. Cheers!

Darling house...great neighborhood for walking

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our August one month stay. The house was equipped with everything you needed. Ray took care of any of our needs very quickly. Every type of Restaurant you can imagine is in easy walking distance. We had two cars and the driveway was adequate for one, but on street parking for the other was challenging. The temperatures were very warm for part of our stay, and the upstairs bedroom was too warm to sleep in many evenings, even with the A/C running. Donna Lindell

Wonderful House

  • 5 of 5

We spent a month in early spring 2017 in this wonderful house, loved every minute of it! Ray's welcome was warm and sincere, then he respected our privacy. The location is walkably convenient to lots of shopping and great food carts, Sellwood is a very fun neighborhood. The upstairs loft is a cozy retreat, kitchen large and well furnished, main floor laundry very convenient. We hope to stay here on our next visit to Portland.

Lovely, Cute, and Convenient!

  • 5 of 5

My family of three stayed in Ray's charming bungalow for a few months, and it truly felt like home. First, the location is the best, situated near the heart of the main commercial area of Sellwood, with an easy walk to restaurants and bars, and a short block to the best grocery store in Portland. Great for biking. It's also very close to a good bus line, connecting to the awesome Portland transportation system, and is a simple, short drive to downtown. Be aware that it's an urban experience, so don't be surprised that there is some traffic noise. Second, the house itself is great, with century-old charm combined with modern convenience. Huge back yard (for this area). Great yellow plums and apples, if you're there in summer (Ray even supplies a fruit picker), and we used the large covered gazebo and hammock a lot. The house is fully equipped. It has a basement which we found convenient for storage. Finally, Ray is a gem - he genuinely wants you to enjoy the experience, will help in any way, and yet is not intrusive. Highly recommended!

Great place to stay in Sellwood area

  • 5 of 5

The Sellwood Hophouse is a wonderful place to stay. My husband, dogs, and I stayed there for the month of October 2016 and could not have been happier with this comfortable and stocked little home away from home. Ray and Melanie have thought of everything. Just as I'd wonder if they might have one kitchen utensil or another I'd reach for the most logical place to have it and there it would be. Two of the best things about the house are its location and the big fenced yard. Our dogs loved running around back there. There's a pretty gazebo, too. The house is across the street from the Piknik Park and New Seasons grocery store. We didn't have any trouble with noise. There are cute shops in the area within walking distance. Would love to stay there again. Thanks Ray and Melanie!
