Overview

About the property

This one of a kind one/bedroom has a Queen bed and a custom designed kitchen.

Our comfortable condo invites you to rest in every way. From the beautiful queen bed and the fully stocked custom designed kitchen. To watching the spectacular Hawaiian sunsets on the lanai, surrounded by flowering plants and Palm trees. You are sure to relax, unwind and let your stress melt away. The Lanai opens up to the beautiful lawn and large swaying Palm trees and the beautiful ocean veiws.Turkeys and Peacocks frequent the lawns and lazily eat the bugs and keep them in check. A few steps away is the grilling area with comfortable chairs and good lighting

The kitchen is complete and functional with good grilling equipment, electric stove, full size refrigerator, crock pot, rice cooker, sushi roller, Pot & pans etc.

There is a large bathroom with extra cabinet and drawer space for your extended stay. The large walk-in shower is the width of the bathroom. I really can't say enough about the water. I know I'm supposed to conserve on the Island...but the water feels soo goood. I love it!!! I have to time myself in the shower.

The bedroom has a wonderfully comfortable canopy queen bed with new linens. There is a four drawer built-in to accommodate your clothing. There are also matching nightstands with drawers and a lamps.

We are a short walk away to many lonely beaches including two of the longest white sand beach in Hawaii. The snorkeling and shelling at our favorite beach is great and there is a good chance you will be the only people there. It is about a 15minute scenic walk from the Condo. We have an ice chest and beach chairs and towels available for your use. The beach in front and a little to the right of the Condo Complex is an excellent surfing and boogie boarding area. The beach on the left of the Complex is a rocky area where seasonally huge waves crash and spray. The owners will hold bonfires on this beach and everyone is welcome. There is also a cookout so people attending bring their own meat for the grill. Everyone watches the sunset together, and fun is had by all.

We have tried very hard to make sure our guests have everything they need for a wonderful Hawaiian getaway.

About Carol

Last Christmas, Carol and I talked about what we would love to do in the coming year. We both said that we wanted to go to a place where we could find a beach where we could be alone and rest. A friend of a friend later told us about his vacation in Molokai and it sounded exactly what we were looking for. We came to Molokai in March of 2014 and immediately fell in love with this place and even more so with each other. So much so that we purchased five condos here at Kaluakoi Beach Resort. I have been a commercial real estate broker for 35 years and my job is incredibly stressful. Carol is a homemaker, decorator, and now property manager for our Kaluakoi (Kepuhi Beach Resort) Properties. We have 5 children and 14 grandchildren. All of our kids and grandkids live in our hometown of Las Cruces, New Mexico. I am a foodie and a wine lover. I was so blessed to find a great wine shop in town (Kaunakakai) and fresh farm produce ( Kumu Farms) available here year round. I also love venison and grass fed beef, both of which I can direct you to. I met a line fisherman named Jay at the wine shop and he sells me the freshest sushi quality fish I have ever had. I can give you his number if you are interested. Carol is the most hospitable woman I know and she is also a decorator. Our grandkids adore her as do I. We love to take walks on the beach, go snorkeling, drink wine watching the sunset and just reading a book or resting together. Molokai has really been a blessing to both of us. We would love to share it with you.

Carol purchased this condo in 2014

Why Carol chose Maunaloa

Carol and I wanted to be on the beach. Not across the street but on the beach where we could see the water and hear the waves crash. Kaluakoi is the closest condo project to the beautiful beaches on the west end of Molokai. The views are wonderful, the water is so blue and you can see whales right from our lanai. The sunsets from our lanai every evening are nothing short of magical. The community grill is well lit and functional and a great place to meet people from all over the world. The landscape is green and lush with so many swaying palm trees. We absolutely love it here.

What makes this condo unique

Molokai has the longest white sand beach in Hawaii, the highest sea cliffs in the world, a very small population, wonderful snorkeling and amazing weather. The views from our property are stunning and our toughest decision every day is to decide which beach we want to walk to or what do we have for dinner? The freshest fish or the best beef or venison we have ever tasted. Where else could we find this combination but the west end of Molokai.

True Hawaiian Paradise

  • 4 of 5

This condo was a perfect match to our wants and needs of finding a great secluded quiet beach and paradise. Getting the vehicle and into the condo were absolutely hassle free. We did have a slight adjustment from always being in A/C to the ever present trade winds, windows open/fan flow. We were able to cook most meals in the condo and found adequate kitchen essentials available to do so. A Romantic Sunset at the beach at the end of each day was the Highlight of our stay. We often felt we were the only ones in the resort, beach or pool...probably because we were. Loved discovering the island, used the suggested jeep and a handy double sided laminated map almost daily. We were able to venture to sites off road/4wheel drive only, that we might not have other wise known were on the island...like the deserted beach and port that is now only used for a 43 mile outrigger race to Oahu... Loved the music at the coffee plantation and food and conversations from Paddlers Inn and restaurant. Meeting locals at the Saturday Market or Mailing a coconut from Hoolehau P.O. helped seal the deal for an awesome Hawaiian experience. All in part from suggestions of the condo owners...Although our fav became the evenings at the beach for a nice dip, drink and relax to watch as the sun slowly descended behind the clouds and horizon....the hardest part of the trip was leaving the beach each evening....The water for the shower is magical and not sure why!...and I have never slept better...The bed and pillows were awesome. In fact we pulled the sheets off to find out the mattress brand. I'm not telling, you'll have to find out for yourself. The condo was a perfect match for us and the island of Molokai.

Kepuhi beach resort stay.

  • 5 of 5

Excellent place to stay. The west end of Molokai is very nice. Awesome sunsets and uncrowded beaches. Life moves at a slower pace here, just right. Randy and Carols condo made the stay perfect. They had a little bit of everything here. We'll be back!

Perfect Escape

  • 5 of 5

Leaving tomorrow, and have so enjoyed our stay at this lovely condo. The kitchen and bathroom provisions are such that one has everything they need for their stay. Spices, condiments and baking supplies were all included. Lovely linens and towels, and Carol is a most talented designer. The furnishings and decor are both lovely and super comfortable. Even the most courteous vodka on ice in the freezer awaited us. One hint we'd offer renters is to use extreme care when moving the drapery in the bedroom which is over the door to the lanai. The drapery rod is very heavy and wooden and topples down on you when moving the curtain of just this one area. My head and hand can attest to it's heaviness..lol. Children should not touch it. Likely best to carefully take it down altogether during your stay to avoid such accidents or at least during the day. The lanai offers endless views of a beautifully maintained lawn and garden area right down to the powerful, beautiful surf. We had fun feeding the birds and wild turkeys who were very entertaining. The jeep was in excellent shape and appeared brand new. It was so convenient to rent during our stay. Be sure to visit the general store in the interesting little ghost town of Mauna Loa. Saves a much longer trip to town, or the little store here on the property, though more pricey, offers many items. Very friendly and hard working grounds staff and security. Mahalo Carol and Randy for the best stay we could have hoped for.

Clean, comfortable relaxation

  • 5 of 5

The unit was as advertised - and as stated in other reviews - clean, well-maintained, and with a great assortment of kitchen gadgets and cooking items. The view from the lanai was gorgeous so we spent a good part of our stay just relaxing on the loungers and soaking up the scenery. The nearby beaches are virtually deserted so they became a favorite haunt in the evenings to just sit and watch the swells roll in.

I have no qualms in recommending this condo to others who are looking for a vacation away from the crowds.

VERY nice!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carol and Randy's condo on Molokai! Although it wasn't "centrally located" on the island, we knew that when we booked and chose a place that was more remote just for a nice get-away. This was the third out of four islands (Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, and Maui) that we were visiting on this three-week trip. The other three were more activity-oriented, so this condo afforded us a relaxed and more secluded spot than our other accommodations. It was well-stocked and tropically furnished. Since I was originally born and raised on Oahu, but now live on the mainland, it was nice to come "home" and be surrounded by my island influences. That is one reason we love Molokai! It is more like Hawaii used to be! Thank you for a lovely spot.

Monday morning after a breakfast of papaya and pineapple we head to the local meat market to buy Molokai grass fed beef where they process local cattle from the hoof to the vacume packed package. This meet is the best steaks and hamburger we have ever had. We head back to the condo and after a nice nap we go to the pool that overlooks the beach and the ocean. A nice swim and a good book is all you will need. We enjoy a magnificent sunset from the Lanai, great steak and veggies from the grill and then to bed. The sound of the waves make me sleep like no place else on earth. Tuesday we always go to Molokai Coffee Plantation and Coffee shop where there will be 30 people taking ukelele lessens while others dance a hula to the local music from 10 am to noon. What a joy to sit there with a great cup of java and take it all in. We may have lunch at Paddlers after stopping in the local shops. A quick stop at my friend Jay's for some more fresh fish and back home for a nap and, you got it, wine, sunset, dinner and off to sleep. Wednesday is another great day to go back to the beach for a day of shelling and snorkeling. Thursday morning we are back at the coffee house where they have local entertainment from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Usually a guitar player and a couple of ukelele payers having a great time. A quick drive up the hill to the overlook above Kalaupapa for a scenic walk and a picnic and back home for a nap. You know what is next - sunset, walk on the beach and dinner. Friday we might ride the mules down to Kalaupapa to see the historic leper colony or we might book a snorkel trip with Molokai Fish and Dive. Friday evenings we almost always go to Molokai shores where we sit right next to water and listen to the local ukelele's play. Saturday is a great day to take a drive to the east end of the island and see the rain forest and walk to the water falls. Probably stop back by Jay's for some more fresh fish and back home for another great sunset. On Molokai Carol and I have found beauty, great food, friendly people, but most importantly rest. We hope you enjoy the same.
