About the property

4 Bedroom, 2.5 Baths On The Shores Of The Sheepscot River

Fantastic single level log home on the shores of the river. Master suite with it's own bath. 3 Additional bedrooms and another bath and a half. All bedrooms have queen size beds. Great room all open to the kitchen and dining area's make for fantastic entertaining space. Lots of room to relax and get comfortable. Just off the kitchen are two large decks overlooking the river and the dock. There are a couple of dining tables on the deck ( one is covered) and plenty of room to enjoy the sunshine The deck is in sun for the majority of the day. New this summer is a heated swimming pool just off the deck. Very private and secluded yet close to amenities in town. The upper yard has a large grassy area should you want to play lawn games or things of that nature. We do have a deepwater dock so you can bring your boat with you and you take advantage of the water for fishing or just pleasure boating. Bring your own kayaks or rent them from the vendor intown. We are fully equipped for lobster cooking outside with a separate lobster cooker and of course a gas grill for those BBQ's. You really won't have any trouble finding things to do or if you prefer just sit, relax, watch the lobstermen and do nothing!

About Joanie Anderson

My husband and I have been coming to Maine since we were both kids and love it here. If you have never visited you will definetly enjoy yourselves - there is no place like Maine. So many different things to see and do. Some of you may already know us - we have another VRBO rental up in Northport about an hour north of here. It was such a success that we found we wanted to find another one. This one is completely different yet our hospitality is the same so please do cross reference to see our reviews. The other property is Baybreeze - 447640

Joanie Anderson purchased this lodge in 2014

Why Joanie Anderson chose Mid-Coast & Islands

We wanted to find something completely different and there is nothing quite like a log home surrounded by Maine pines, balsams and oaks sitting on the rocky ledge of a beautiful river. Just doesn't get any better than this. Great to just sit back and relax or jump in the boat and head out to the great wide open ocean. Watch the seals frolick in the bay and listen to the osprey's living all over the area. You will occasionally see a bald eagle too.

What makes this lodge unique

This place is just so 'maine' - you'll love it!

Car: recommended

We are located not too far down westport island so the convenience of getting back to the mainland is right at hand. Many great attractions in wiscasset, dubbed 'the prettiest village in maine' - from antique shopping to galleries and the world famous 'red's eat's' know for it's amazing lobster rolls. There is always a line so be prepared to wait - well worth it. You can purchase lobster's right off the dock at the north end co-op on the island and they don't get any fresher than that. If you travel a bit south to bath there are many great attractions in that area. Bath is the city of ships and the bath iron works is back in business. Well worth a trip downtown to get a feel for the history of the town. You can head down to reid state park for an hour or a day and take advantage of both sandy beach and tidal areas to explore in. A little bit longer of a drive takes you out to popham state beach which is absolutely beautiful with beaches that seem to go on forever and a tide that really goes out. If you are looking for something a bit different you can head north to the boothbay region and spend a day or more exploring here. There is shopping, dining, or excursions you can book and many other attractions. The coastal botanical garden is located in this area and is well worth the trip. You can also check out damariscotta/newcastle and it's quaint downtown. Great restaurants and shops here to enjoy. There are lighthouses to visit and one that shouldn't be missed is at pemaquid point - there is also another beautiful sandy beach in pemaquid that should be sought out if you are a beach goer. If you bring your own boat - most of these attractions can be accessed via the rivers and bays. There is nothing more fun than heading down the river to stop at robinhood for a drink and some steamer's or head over to boothbay through the swing bridge and dock for a nice lunch on a dock. So many options and so much to see if you want to do it via the water. Just let us know you are bringing a boat. There is a boat launch not too far from the house.

Wonderful & Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from our week long stay at Riverledge Lodge. The home is beautiful and even better than the pictures would indicate. Very light and homey with a nice mix of rustic and modern. The kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms and great room were all clean, nicely furnished and comfortable. We loved the two level deck and spent most of our time sitting on it looking down at the water. We also enjoyed views of deer, turkey, hummingbirds and seals while we were there.

The location is quiet and picturesque. It is close to Rte 1, so you never have to travel too far to get groceries or gas, but tucked away enough to feel remote. The best part is that you get off Rte 1 BEFORE the Wiscasset traffic mess.

We rented kayaks for the week and loved going up and down the river. We also went to the nearby North End Lobster Co-op and used the outdoor gas-powered lobster cooker.

There were 7 of us ranging from 21-75 and at the end of our stay nobody wanted to leave.

Beautiful cabin and fabulous stay

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks at the lodge. The house is cozy yet spacious, well maintained. All four bedrooms are beautiful and the living /dining area was perfect for family get togethers and cooking. House was very comfortable for 6 adults and one child. Our entire family the open porch where I took my morning coffee every day of our visit. We loved the dock as well. Lots of towns within driving distance nearby for day trips. We brought bikes and biked to the nearby lobster co-op to get lobsters for dinner. The pictures are very accurate and do the house justice! We loved our stay and will definitely be back. Thank you!

  • 5 of 5

The minute we set foot into the house it felt cozy and comfortable. Everything was clean and stocked to the brim. The kitchen had everything! The bathrooms were sparkling clean. The mattresses were princess perfect! We are fishermen/boaters and had a blast on the river! You can see the river and dock from the house!! Beautiful! We will definitely be back!

Beautiful home, view and location

  • 5 of 5

We loved our visit to Westport Island! I cannot boast enough about the wonderful accommodations and the beautiful island. This house couldn't have been more perfect for me and my family if I had designed it myself. From the moment we walked in until we left we felt so at home. The view is absolutely amazing - you can head down to the dock to enjoy the water or watch from the deck. There is always something to do - fishing, antiquing, dining or even driving over to the local fisherman's wharf for fresh lobster to cook back at the house! Be sure to visit the Squire Tarbox Inn for dinner as it is just down the road! We will be back again this summer to enjoy with friends and family.

Charming Location! Will be back

  • 5 of 5

Westport island is a great place for a family vacation. We stayed here twice last summer and absolutely loved it and can't wait to get back there with our new baby! The house was spotless, had everything you could need and the beds were very comfortable. We had some rainy days and there was plenty of room for board games and laying out to watch movies. The yard is large and well maintained great to lay in the grass or sit on the porch and enjoy some lobster. There is a great little marina not to far with fresh lobster brought in by the boats and the prices can't be beat.

The walk to the water is well maintained, and there is plenty of room on the dock for fishing (don't forget to get a license for this!) Great place for a family or adults only vacation.

We can't wait to get back <3

A plus for boutique lovers- the location is close to several downtown type areas with local shops, restaurants and small art galleries.
