About Kim Eisner
We live in Durango, just up the road from this vacation rental so we are available and look forward to meeting you and introducing you to the home, Durango and all of the wonderful things there are to do here. We can answer any questions as we have lived here for 30 years and are working on retiring here as well - there is no where better we could move to!
Kim Eisner purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Kim Eisner chose Durango
We purchased this property for its unique, private location on the Animas River and only 3 miles to town and the best bakery around! Having lived in Durango for over 30 years we feel fortunate to have been able to purchase this cabin before it even went on the market.
What makes this Cabin unique
The views from the cabin to the west are of the Animas River and cliffs, while to the north are the San Juan Mountains. The east are the red cliffs that tower above and to the south is wide open fields. This is a unique cabin that feels like home as soon as you enter and whether you choose to read on the deck or cuddle in front of the fireplace you will enjoy your stay!

Very cute and clean home. Great views, close to town, but feels very far away. Owners are great and eager to make your stay comfortable. Thank you!
Nice cabin on the Animas River - beautiful view
The cabin is perfectly located along the Animas River. Our first night was NYE, so we were thrilled to have a fire right alongside the river, and the kids enjoyed s'mores. It was really cool to watch the deer come down to the property and graze. That is definitely something we don't get to see often in the desert. We were in Durango for a family snowboarding trip, so the location was ideal for us. Just about 20 minutes south of the resort. The host and hostess were very helpful and made themselves available, although we never needed to reach out. They had taken time to leave informational notes around the cabin for us, which answered any questions we had. I would not only highly recommend this cabin, but I'd love to visit again!
Close enough to town for convenince, yet just far enough away to feel like you're secluded. Excellent views and very clean and comfortable.
Beautiful scenery from a lovely cabin/apartment
The cabin was absolutely immaculate and had everything one would need. Great attention to details. The 2nd floor deck provided spectacular views of the river valley. Conveniently located, far enough from the city for peace and quiet yet close enough to run downtown for an evening meal. I would definitely choose the same rental again.
Lovely bright apartment- great deck overlooking animus river and valley
This was the super place to stay. Close enough to town to be convenient yet set out in the beautiful countryside overlooking the Animus River, valley and high bluffs on either side. Two bedrooms, and a sweet living room with fireplace, comfortable chairs, discrete TV, and that fabulous deck and view. Pretty, modern, light kitchen and bathroom. I nice linens, nice extras like scotch tape and sewing kit if you need it. Walk down to relax by the river. Friendly, gracious hosts. We really hope we will be back!
quiet, clean, peaceful
Close enough to Durango for convenience, far enough for seclusion. Spotlessly clean, nicely appointed, great view from the nicely sized deck. The sound of the train passing by on occasion enhances the feel.
Durango is a destination located in the mountains with something for everyone! From the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Mesa Verde, Anasazi Indian Ruins, to mountain and road biking to skiing. We have a fabulous public recreation center, state of the art library and both live drama and movie theaters for indoor activities. Durango Mountain Resort is located approx. 15 miles north with both downhill and cross country skiing, as well as horseback riding, sleigh rides and zip lines. During the summer Durango Mountain Resort hosts The Music in the Mountains, which features some of the best musicians from all over the world. There is a natural hot springs resort with both hot soaking pools as well as a cooler swimming pool with 3 miles from our property and Pagosa Springs is within 1 hour as well. The list of hiking and biking routes, trails and opportunities for both single and group rides is too long to list but the main loop for locals to train for the famous, local road bike race, the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, is the road our property lies on.
In town, Durango supports multiple local breweries and wineries as well as a distillery and over 100 restaurants with everything from authentic Mexican to Greek and Italian food offered. Fort Lewis College, a small liberal arts state college is located above the city on a mesa with views to both the mountains and New Mexico.
A town that offers so much for every season you will want to stay!
