Why Kim Eisner chose Southwest

We purchased this property for its unique, private location on the Animas River and only 3 miles to town and the best bakery around! Having lived in Durango for over 30 years we feel fortunate to have been able to purchase this cabin before it even went on the market.

What makes this cabin unique

The views from the cabin to the west are of the Animas River and cliffs, while to the north are the San Juan Mountains. The east are the red cliffs that tower above and to the south is wide open fields. This is a unique cabin that feels like home as soon as you enter and whether you choose to read on the deck or cuddle in front of the fireplace you will enjoy your stay!

We had a great time in this cabin. The Kitchen was well supplied. There was a lovely welcome basket with snacks that were delicious when we arrived. It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable.

my stay in Durango colorado

  • 5 of 5

We have been visiting Durango every summer for over 40 years and this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed in. Kim and Clark were unbelievably accommodating and the cabin was more than we could have ask for. We had a wonderful time and will be back.

We absolutely loved this cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin/location was perfect for us. It's less than 10 minutes away from downtown Durango and less than 30 minutes away from Purgatory. The cabin itself was very well appointed and comfortable. Kim was a great hostess. We'll definitely stay here again!

We had a great stay at this river side house. Everything went really well. House was well appointed with a nice wood stove and outdoor grill. Beautiful view from the front deck of river and valley floor. House is super convenient access to Durango just a short 10 minute drive to down town. We had a great stay!

Durango Mountain Resort

Durango is a destination located in the mountains with something for everyone! From the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Mesa Verde, Anasazi Indian Ruins, to mountain and road biking to skiing. We have a fabulous public recreation center, state of the art library and both live drama and movie theaters for indoor activities. Durango Mountain Resort is located approx. 15 miles north with both downhill and cross country skiing, as well as horseback riding, sleigh rides and zip lines. During the summer Durango Mountain Resort hosts The Music in the Mountains, which features some of the best musicians from all over the world. There is a natural hot springs resort with both hot soaking pools as well as a cooler swimming pool with 3 miles from our property and Pagosa Springs is within 1 hour as well. The list of hiking and biking routes, trails and opportunities for both single and group rides is too long to list but the main loop for locals to train for the famous, local road bike race, the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, is the road our property lies on.

In town, Durango supports multiple local breweries and wineries as well as a distillery and over 100 restaurants with everything from authentic Mexican to Greek and Italian food offered. Fort Lewis College, a small liberal arts state college is located above the city on a mesa with views to both the mountains and New Mexico.

A town that offers so much for every season you will want to stay!
