Quiet secluded place, close to things to do

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed the week here with my family. I have small children and house had all the conveniences of home. New appliances, including washer and dryer (a big plus for family), was appealing. The house was very clean, a nice kitchen with all the tools you need to cook a nutritious meal. All the linens were provided, sheets, towels. There was an area outside, where you could roast marsh mellows. Our kids just liked to run around. King Street and ASU was about a 7 minute drive down the mountain. The temperature here was 5-10 degrees cooler than in Boone. In early August, we did not need air conditioning. We opened up windows and used fans. The weather did not get out of the 60's when we were there. I recommend this place for anyone needing a mountain getaway, away from the stress of city living.

The cabin is a great place to visit.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is tucked away stop a mountain. Didn't realize it was a duplex, but a policeman lives downstairs so felt protected. Only a couple negatives... Only one leather sofa and no chairs. No place to recline and relax. If more than a couple folks, you have to sit on kitchen chairs.

Beds are a little on the soft and "worn" side. But a great value for the money. We would visit again if in the area.

Great location and just what we needed.

  • 4 of 5

The location of this property was perfect for us visiting Boone, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain and much more. All the amenities we needed were there, and the security of the police officer living on the lower level unit was a bonus for us.

nice place for what we needed

  • 5 of 5

The purpose of this trip was to take two teenagers to App State for the "Student for a day" program, so we were in town most of the time.

The Drive- Let me first say that I am terrified of heights, but I do love the views. it is definitely UP the mountain. Absolutely beautiful views! There is also a park on the mountain which has an awesome overview of Boone and a few homemade trails. So great!

The driveway is easy to drive and turn around in, as long as the 2nd car from the villa below leaves a little room. I was grateful for this after seeing other driveways along the way.

The layout is nice, the villa was clean. There were a couple of concerns, but nothing that can't be fixed and I am wondering if these were just overlooked. A couple of the dishes in the kitchen were a little dirty, but I tend to wash the dishes before I use them anyway. The bed sheets didn't look very clean, there was hair and dirt on the sheets, so I slept on top of the covers the first night. The posts were a little scary too. I am wondering if the bed frame may be coming apart or cracked. The bed posts looked like they were going to fall on me any moment and the mattress was lopsided, so I almost rolled out of bed. I ended up sleeping on the couch, which was more comfortable for me anyway.

we didn't cook as there are a ton of yummy places in town to eat. We were able to relax and watch a movie the last night there, which was very nice.

I have read previous reviews about the decor about it being eccentric, but I figured it was the owner's taste which makes it homey. I loved the corner with lights and fireplace. I absolutely loved the table, as well as the bathroom wall sticker. Cute idea! I was sad that there wasn't a view, but it was very private, even with the neighbor downstairs.

I would like to apologize, because I did not take the trash out, or pull the sheets off. I wasn't sure what was expected. I did however, put all of the dirty towels in the washing machine. I would suggest to put a "welcome guest" book with what to do at the end of our visit, unless there was nothing expected.

Overall, We really enjoyed it and felt that the price was perfect for what we needed. If the beds change and cleaned, I will definitely go for another visit. Thank you so much for allowing us to share your home.

Owner's Response: First of all think you for the comments. I hope you had a great time. We have tirelessly addressed any issues as of 9/19/17 to make sure everything is as always perfect. The cleaning crew always makes sure everything is washed and cleaned but we have stressed to make sure everything is rechecked. We want everything to be great each time. The end of August was extremely busy and I think the crew may have been rushed but we have added additional people to make sure the place is always ready. We have pushed back check in time a little to give enough time for the crew to make sure everything is completed. Thank you

Location is great, cabin not so much

  • 2 of 5

This cabin is in a great location. Its a nice distance from town, but not too far. The cabin was clean and neat. But the beds are horrible and need to be replaced. Everyone we turned over in bed we thought it was going to fall apart.

Owner's Response: We are really sorry about this and have never heard anything about the beds. I went up personally and check them for myself and only issue I found was the slats were slide around and to far from one another. We adjusted them and screwed them into place. I wish you would have notified us immediately, we would have had someone there in minutes to address the issue. We want everyone to have a comfortable night stay and spend endless hours making sure everything is perfect. Sorry again and wish we could have addressed it for you.

Mountain Cabin

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I recently spent three nights in your cabin above Boone. We enjoyed the size and layout of the cabin....plenty of room for us. It is close to Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We enjoyed hiking and shopping in the area. I could not give 5 stars because the cabin had not been cleaned properly before our arrival. I will not go into details here, suffice to say it looked like the cleaner rushed through and did a quick spot clean. This was shared with the owner after our stay in hopes it would not happen to the next renter. A good value for the money, but the lack of a good clean following the previous renter was definitely an issue.

Owner's Response: We would like to think you for staying with us and glad you had a great time. We are sorry for any cleaning inconvenience. I wish you would have contacted me that night. We would have had it addressed in minutes. Also we have dealt with cleaners and took on new staff to make sure this does not happen. We take great pride in the property and update it very often. Thank you
