About the property

6 Bedroom, 3 Bath Cabin on 3 acres

This property was converted into a cabin from an existing barn in 2011/12. It offers a warm, rustic feel yet very comfortable. This cabin includes a large open kitchen and gathering area for family enjoyment. The kitchen includes basic necessities for your convenience: Pots/pans, electric griddle, crockpot, cooking utensils, etc.

The gathering area opens up onto a large deck overlooking a pasture/meadow where elk often graze and views of the mountains and valley can be enjoyed. A large gas grill is part of the deck area for outdoor cooking along with deck chairs, picnic tables & benches for outdoor meals.

There are 5 bedrooms downstairs and one large bedroom with 2 beds & a bathroom upstairs. This rustic themed rental sleeps 14 in beds (2 king beds, 4 queen beds, 1 full bed), and a futon mattress in the loft can be used for additional guests. If more than 16 guests extra sheets are provided for couches, or we can provide floor mats. The bathrooms include one full, one 3/4 with a very large walk-in shower, and one smaller 3/4. We provide sheets for all beds as well as towels enough for 18 people. The loft and sitting areas provide relaxing space to read, play games or nap!!

A mudroom serves as the entry to the front of the cabin with benches and a large coat/ hat rack where you can leave shoes, jackets, etc.

For colder months there is central heat as well as a gas fireplace in the gathering room.

You will enjoy the spacious feel of the outdoors where there is room for baseball, horseshoes, and any number of activities.

There is a corral for horses if needed and an easy access to national forest within approximately 1/2 mile from cabin.

Why RAD chose Alpine

We purchased this property because it provides a peaceful retreat for our family no matter what time of year. It is far enough away from the seasonal local town activities, yet close enough for basic conveniences. We enjoy the spaciousness of this 3 acre property for all types of fun activities from scavenger hunts, horseshoes, bike riding, horseback riding, hide & seek, to relaxing in a deck chair with a good book while enjoying the beauties and sounds of nature.

What makes this cabin unique

Many times In the early morning hours elk are seen grazing on the property. We have counted up to 75 elk at one time. We are also close enough to walk or ride into the national forest about l/2 mile down the road.

What a wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

This place was wonderful! It had everything we could want. It was absolutely beautiful on the inside and very roomy, had every amenity we needed plus gorgeous views, was centrally located to our favorite fishing spots (about 25 minutes from the black river, very close to Luna and pretty close to Big lake as well), and had great birding opportunities. We saw many elk (including calves) walk right thru the property (or right behind it) daily and there were horses all around us. It felt secluded enough for that out in the forest feel and plenty of pine trees. My family absolutely loved it! My grandkids almost cried when we had to go home. I HIGHLY recommend it!!! Will try and go again in the future. Negatives: Nothing.

Owner's Response: Thank you---to you and your family Diana!! You were wonderful to work with! We loved that you were able to have some family pictures taken and what a beautiful time of year with the green grass and cooler weather! August and September are some of the best months to be in the Alpine area. Also, thanks to your family for helping us unload the new grill and for you patience while getting it there!

GREAT for Family Fun

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is amazing. It is beautiful, clean and has room for lots of family fun. We went the first of October and the weather was beautiful. Colors were changing on the foliage and the evenings were cool enough to roast marshmallows in the pit outside. We definitely want to bring the family back.

Beautiful house, a bucolic setting, Nice cool weather. What more could a flatlander want?

  • 5 of 5

To give you an example of the owners willingness to please the coffee maker went out and she was going to have someone do it least a 50 mile round-trip to give us another one to use.

Owner's Response: Thanks Tim, we never know when one of the conveniences or essentials may quit on us!! Thank you for understanding! We really try to make your stay the best it can be and avoid the possibility of disappointment. In a more remote area like Alpine we have to rely on resources a bit further away!! We are happy to know your stay was still a good one!

Perfect location. Perfect size for our family. Everything about it worked out perfect.

  • 5 of 5

Our family is big and we're always looking for places big enough to stay. This cabin had plenty of bedrooms, wide open space, plenty of room for kids to run around outside and the weather and location was perfect. We loved it! Highly recommended for a family reunion stay.

Great cabin retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Our family just returned from a very relaxing stay at this cabin with a few other young families. We usually stay in Pinetop and Greer together, but wanted to try Alpine out. This cabin is spacious and well kept. Kitchen has most every tool you'll need to cook. It doesn't have a dishwasher, but we were fine without one. We brought lots of bottled water with us, but ended up drinking so much of the tasty well water. Owners were very responsive in replacing a coffee maker that wasn't working. Wonderful views and plenty of room for the kids to explore and use their imaginations outside. They loved the tire swing and treehouse, though were not positive which property the treehouse belongs to. Upstairs bedroom has massive picture windows, but no blinds to keep out the summer sun or heat depending on how you sleep or nap. Needless to say, we hope to return again.

Owner's Response: We appreciate the reviews we receive from our guests! Thank you for the time and thought you put into your comments. We have realized the large bedroom upstairs windows let in early morning sunlight and have attempted various ways to cover them but found that trying to do so also blocks the view! We have had the same experience during the dryer warmer weeks with the upper level warming up so we did install blinds on the east and west windows. We will have to rethink the south window issue! Thanks again!!!
