Cozy, comfortable, peaceful.

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights at this cottage in February, 2018. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The booking experience and all communication with the property manager was terrific. The cottage was just right for our long weekend getaway, so cozy and peaceful.

The morning sun warmed the front porch and we enjoyed time out there early, as well as in the evening, watching birds and jackrabbits. We enjoyed watching the sun wake up the vineyard and then put it back to bed again at night with great sunsets as well. Lots of woodpeckers, wrens, towhees, hummingbirds and quail to entertain us.

The bed was super-comfy and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for cooking up our suppers in the evening. The cottage came with a hand-book, with lots of suggestions, and is plunked right in the midst of so many wineries and quaint towns that we couldn't see and do everything that looked interesting in the time we had. We will definitely be back to Amador County for more exploring.

A wonderful, relaxing and interesting experience

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Cottage for two nights while on a visit from our home in South Florida. It was a wonderful experience for the two of us and our adult son. We sampled the fares at local restaurants and tasted wine at other wineries. But the best two parts of our stay were the Wilderotter Winery and its Cottage.

We were already members of the wine club and had visited two times before. The tastings are well-handled: generous in the number of wines, many of which we greatly enjoyed (and bought). Jay (the owner) invited us to take a tour of the winery. It was the most thorough winery tour we had ever experienced in five countries and three U.S. states, and we learned a great deal.

The cottage is wonderful. Two well-designed bedrooms, a delightful and fully equipped kitchen, and a porch, which allowed us just to sit and gaze at the vines as the sun rose above the nearby hills. The price for the cottage is surprisingly modest when compared to what a two-bedroom suite would cost at a mid-priced hotel.

If you are going to be in Amador County, you will be very hard pressed to do better. We will certainly stay there again.

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed with another couple for two nights. We are members of the wine club so we were anticipating the cottage to be lovely based on the service we experience at the winery. We were very impressed with the entire experience. The cottage is clean and well stocked. The back porch has a lovely view of the grapes and provides a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the house is so quiet!! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cottage and we will be back again, and again.

Perfectly placed in wine country! We rented the house for a 4 day weekend getaway from MN to explore the area, it worked out perfectly for us. The cottage is stocked with all you need to feel at home, and a super cute deck to plan your next adventure! Booking, pricing and communication was seamless.

Highly recommend!

Sister Vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place to stay with my sister while on a wine country vacation! The cottage was beautifully and comfortably furnished. There is a lovely view of the vineyards and rolling hills. But the quiet and the magnificent night sky were my favorite of many positive features. I absolutely plan to return here on my next visit. There are still many wineries yet to enjoy.

Lovely location and facilities

  • 5 of 5

We've been buying wines from Amador County (and Wilderotter) for around 15 years; this cottage is a great addition to the options for staying in the area. First the location is perfect, in the middle of the vineyards tucked down a small road behind Terre Rouge. Second, the facilities are perfect for 4 people; we recently stayed for a couple of days with our son and his wife. The deck provides a lovely sun-kissed location to drink your morning coffee - or afternoon Sauvignon Blanc. The linens are luxurious, the beds comfortable and the peace overwhelming. There are lovely walks and views all around.
