The outside patio area is your private oasis to enjoy the beautiful vista of hills and trees.
Drop Shot is not handicap accessible.

Construction of the inn was completed in the fall of 2014 and the tennis courts were completed 3 years later. Drop Shot guests can use the courts on a walk-on basis, so bring your non-marking shoes, balls and rackets. Lessons are also available with Larry Parker (former USPTA Pro of the Year); call in advance to book a session -- $105/hour private or semi-private.
Courtwood Wine Tasting Tours are also available. A four hour tour of wineries along Highway 4 includes lunch and costs $125 per person, reserved in advance.

Too small for a couple
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in Murphys. The bed is too small for two people. There is no space to sit and relax in the room, there are two small chairs. Also, it feels really awkward to be staying below the inn and not have any access to the facilities there. This would be an ok place for one person to stay, but it is not adequate for a couple. Also, we got lost trying to find it, do not follow Google maps. I would not stay here again. The temporary innkeepers were friendly enough and we were glad to have AC but the small size made it a poor choice.
Since your stay, we are excited to say we've used a designer's input and re-worked our vrbo unit. The outside patio area has a new table and umbrella for shade and we are getting bids on putting in a concrete pad. The bed is a queen size bed which is smaller that our inn rooms (Ca. King) but usually adequate for 2 people. We have changed the seating by adding 2 cushioned fabric chairs and put the clothes rack in the bedroom. The entrance alcove is now the food prep area and we have taken out the large bathroom door and installed an accordion door which greatly increases the bathroom's size. Mirrors have been added and smaller reading lamps take up less room leaving more space on the bedside tables.
We are sorry to hear you got lost getting up to our property. The map on the vrbo listing is accurate, but most gps apps can be very inaccurate up here in the mountains. We do have an add-on meal package which can give you inn access, breakfast and happy hour refreshments for $50/day. Our little "Drop shot" unit is specially designed to be a lower cost option. Keep in mind, guests at the inn are paying 2-3X more than the cost of the vrbo. The benefit are the views, quiet retreat and peacefulness of our getaway. Next time you might consider staying at the inn, with very spacious rooms, Cal King beds, spa tubs, double bathroom sinks, Direct TV, 3 separate and very large public areas, breakfast and happy hour included and on most all concert dates transportation and desserts included.
A calm oasis with spectacular views
Chris and Larry are wonderfully helpful hosts who have created a wonderful private and quiet room with a majestic view of nature. It's part of a larger home/hotel but has a private entrance and faces out from the back, so there's nothing but trees and birds outside your door. The bed is very comfortable and the entire unit is perfectly clean. We enjoyed the Main Street area and wineries just a 5 minute drive from the room, and some incredible hiking just a 30 minutes drive away at the Arnold Rim Trail (Cougar Rock Loop) and Big Trees State Park (South Grove).
Great location, view, comfortable bed and a well appointed bathroom
Overall a pleasant stay, areas that could improve the guests experience.
Clean the Cobb webs from the room before guests arrival, repair the drywall above the bed, install some secure hooks to hang garment bags in place of no closet, provide a clock radio or small flat screen TV and possibly build a small deck at the porch level of the entrance door to make it look less like a storage door.
The rest of the building looks very well thought out, although we could not see the inside due to a wedding taking place.
Best of luck to the owners, and Merry Christmas.
First off, apologies for any cobwebs. It is a constaint battle for us and we look for them everywhere. Sometimes we miss.
Secondly, we are on the same page as you. We currently have closed for January and have a contractor repairing the drywall and replacing the towel racks so they will attach firmly. We also have purchased a closet type rack that will be better to hang clothes, hang up extra towels and have a shoe shelf.
These repairs will be finished before we open our vrbo unit in February.
We looked into a tv, but since it is satellite and not wifi based it would require installing cable from the far side. We want to keep the cost as low as possible for the vrbo and this addition would require an increase in price. So bring your laptop or iPad and use our wifi to stream shows if you'd like. Lastly, a patio and hot tub are in the plans, but won't get done until after our 2 tennis courts are completed. And we always try and show off the main inn, to give our guests a peak at the main area where rooms run $275-$395 per night. Because our very 1st wedding was being held, we had to respect the privacy of the family. We enjoy bringing vrbo guests through our great room, so they can consider staying with us in the inn for a special getaway.
Beautiful location very nice people
Cute little room with great views.
Perfect Place to Stay for Single Woman
As a single woman, I was in Murphys for a wedding and needed a place for 2-night stay. This fairly new, small accommodation met my needs perfectly. The bed/bedding were totally comfortable. A variety of Continental Breakfast items were available, along with coffee/tea and chilled orange juice/milk/water. A small patio area, on which to sit and enjoy the view of the valley and distant mountains, graced the entrance into the room. The owners were very friendly and accommodating, making an effort to welcome guests and to meet their needs. It was a very enjoyable visit.
Very nice property but very dusty dirt road in and out of property. Glad we brought the SUV.
Room was very nice but got a little warm at night when AC wasn't on. Owners very nice.
The good news is that a window unit AC has been ordered and will be installed next week. That should keep this unit very comfortable when it gets hot. We actually had to improve that "dusty" road ourselves to country code standards. Widened, added retaining wall, erosion control, paved encroachment at the start etc. A little rain will take away the dust, but there is nothing we can do about the dust for now. Tip, don't wash your car before heading to Murphys.
Murphys is a quaint historic gold mining town, now known for its wine industry. Along with 23 tasting rooms on Main Street, there are excellent restaurants and shopping. Wine tours of other nearby wineries are available from Courtwood Wine Tasting Tours (209-763-8687). Big Trees State Park is located 17 miles up Highway 4 and there are also 2 different cave tour attractions nearby. There is an historic walking tour of the town of Murphys offered free of charge every Saturday morning at 10am from the Museum. Our property is located 1 1/2 miles from the west end of Main St., and has 2 tennis courts that are available for play and lessons. So bring your non-marking shoes, balls and rackets.
