About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Book now and relax on a lounge chair at the. water's edge while reading a book or watching the turtles right in front of you...or just take a snooze!

This condo is located in the Milowai condo complex, come enjoy that warm Hawaiian sun, the trade winds blowing and the ocean right in front of you. In fact the only thing between you and the water is the warm air! There are no streets to cross, no 'peek-a-boo' views -- you are direct oceanfront.

Our one bedroom, one bath, oceanfront, second floor condo is very special to us and we would like to share it with you. It was here we first visited Maui years ago and fell in love with the blue ocean steps away and the soothing sound of the waves breaking on the shore right in front of us.

We fell in love with the view from the lanai - watching the bright, warm sun rising over Haleakala volcano each morning we were mesmerized by the view, while we sipped coffee and read the morning paper. The lanai even has a rocking chair.

We have ceramic floors, mirrored walls, and you'll see the local sights of Maui on the walls through my photographs.

We have vintage Hawaiian furniture throughout, our new kitchen has white cabinets, appliances, dishware, silverware, cookware, and all new linens.

Our bedroom has mirrored closet doors and white plantation shutters. These shutters allow you to open the top for a great breeze that is always present in Ma'alaea while giving you the maximum amount of privacy. There is a screen door on the front door and the main front door has an adjustable door stop so you can open it with various degrees of openness.

We have two ceiling fans, one in the bedroom and the other in the living room.

Our king size bed features a comfortable mattress and box spring and you'll sleep on our 400 thread-count linens. There is a mountain view from the bedroom.

If you want to relax in the condo, you'll find a large selection of DVD tapes of all varieties of movies. You'll never have to take a trip to the video store!

The view from the lanai is the gem of our condo. There is only one word to describe it--OUTSTANDING! Watch the sailboats, snorkelers, surfers and swimmers put on a show right in front of your eyes.

In the winter you will be entertained by the humpback whales from the lanai and if you really want to get up close with the whales, walk the one block to the harbor and board a whale watching boat.

On the walk back visit the many award winning restaurants for a snack or full course lunch or dinner.

There's a small kiddie beach in front of the condo complex, at the end of our dead-end street is a five-mile white sandy beach.

On the beach you can choose to sit in the warm inviting sunshine, or under one of the broad, wide shade trees. There's never a crowd here, just the friendliest people you can imagine. You can even arrange to have a massage right on the beach!

The Ocean Center (Aquarium) is located one block away and there's a mini-gold course, rock climbing wall and plenty of shops for you to spend some time. There's a convenience store located there for some quick pick ups of food. Larger stores are just 15 minutes away.

As you can see, this is our special place and we want to share it with you to make this your home away from home.

No Smoking (and that includes the lanai) or pets, please.

Centrally located, spectacular view with amazing trade winds

  • 5 of 5

This condo was perfect for our week long getaway from the mainland. My husband, along with our 11 month old son, and I stayed and felt so cozy and at home here. The condo had everything we needed plus an amazing view. From our lanai we were able to see turtles by the dozens in the water. There is no real beach access but there is s small kiddie beach steps away. It's not your typical Maui beach because it's in the harbor but it still serves a great purpose. There are 2 small stores within very close walking distance and they even carried diapers for when we ran out! As far as the condo itself goes, it was exactly what our small family needed. The only thing the kitchen was lacking were cooking spices but we left a couple to pay it forward. Otherwise, the kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy our home cooked meals and let me tell you that blender can make a mean piña colada. We only used the AC a handful of times because the trade winds were so strong and the gusts of wind cooled the house very well when everything was opened. The bedroom was well stocked with pillows and it was nice having a ceiling fan in there to keep the air moving. Overall, the house was very clean and I felt very comfortable allowing our son to crawl all over the floors. Nothing stood out as dirty and you can tell the condo is thouroughly cleaned between uses. Barbara was a gem to work with as well. Ultimately what sold us on this place was that she was able to provide us with a high chair and pack n' play and this condo is very baby/toddler friendly. The pool was nice and clean and the maintenance man as well as other residents we encountered were friendly. Another selling point is how centrally located it is to the airport, Lahaina and Wailea. We highly recommend this charming condo!

Perfect location & AMAZING views

  • 4 of 5

Barbara was great to work with and was very accomodating - she responded promptly to any of our messages and helped make our stay easier. The condo is adorable and has a gorgeous view. We ate breakfast on the lanai every morning of our stay so that we could gaze out at the view and hear the waves. The location was great too -- pretty centrally located. The wedding we were on Maui to attend was at the King Kamehameha Golf Club, which was only 5-7 minutes up the road, so it was perfect for us! We were not too far from Lahaina or Kihei/Wailea or Kahului. We highly recommend this condo for a lovely stay. It isn't first-class fancy, but it is clean, cute, and definitely a great deal for the price!

Very nice Unit with poor parking

  • 4 of 5

The directions to get to this unit were very clear and easy to follow. There was parking under the upper parking deck, the assigned space was hard against the wall. The space was not very wide, so I banged the driver's side door several times. To leave, you have to back out into the down-ramp area and I almost got nailed by a minivan one day. My wife had to stand outside the car to warn me if there was someone coming down the ramp. I also got a nastygram for backing into the space.

Other than the poor parking If another space becomes available, the owner should grab it), it was a beautiful with an outstanding view. Thankfully, there was an elevator, so no stairs needed to be dealt with. The lanai was very nice, with a chaise as well as table chairs, and my wife liked to read out there. The kitchen had what appeared to be brand new appliances, plenty of dishes and silverware (sorry, forgot to start the dishwasher before we left), and new, high-capacity washer and dryer. I do wish that there had been some cooking oil and/or cooking spray. The owner left a basket with several staples, and I really enjoyed the banana bread and mango butter

Location of the unit is very convenient to all points on the island

Owner's Response: Aloha Robert and thanks for taking the time to review this property. Glad you had a great time and everything in the condo met your expectations. I live in this building and my parking spot is also next to a wall. It can be a challenge sometimes but I've mastered a strategy to help out with this and I'm sorry we didn't connect so I could have helped you with this. Unfortunately the condo rules don't allow us to back in and the parking spots are deeded to the particular condos so our spot is our spot. I love the covered parking since the sun never beats down on the car and in the rare times it rains you never get wet! Again, I wished we connected since you didn't need to back out onto the ramp area to exit. There's another way. If you're ever back this way I'd be happy to help you. Loved having you as a guest! Aloha, Barbara

Love this place!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, the view when you walk into the condo is breathtaking. A full view of Haleakala and Maalaea Bay awaits you. The soothing sound of the ocean waves calms you immediately. The lanai is perfect for enjoying all meals, visiting, or simply reading a book. The condo was fully equipped with everything needed, including Tommy Bahama sand chairs and a cooler. The bed was very comfortable and the windows provided a great breeze. Although there was an air conditioner we did not need it. There were flat screen TV's in bedroom and living room with Netflix. WiFi was also provided. There was an elevator and parking was convenient and covered. The BBQ grill was at sea side and the pool is huge. The condo is located near great restaurants and the Ocean Center. This is a great place to stay and I look forward to returning very soon.

It works for us!

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed in this condo for our annual winter vacation for quite a number of years in a row now. We typically stay for a period of 5-6 weeks. We choose to stay at this condo primarily because the location is ideal for us. The area is very quiet and located out of the way. We are not big resort people and love that there are no crowds, no noise, no commotion, just pure relaxation. It just has that tropical homey feeling. We love being steps away from the water as well. We do not swim, so going into the ocean is not our thing, but being this close to the water, and seeing the whales, turtles and occasional monk seals up close and personal is absolutely phenomenal. People pay big money to go out on boats to see the whales, and we get to enjoy the amazing views all day long. The condo has a wall of mirrors, so even indoors, you can still take in the breathtaking views. A few properties down from us, the stretch of Sugar Beach starts and goes clear all the way to Kihei - miles and miles of unending beach. We are not high maintenance or high energy on vacation and we thrive on having peace & quiet and that is exactly what we experience at this condo. We love getting away for a number of weeks at a time so having a full kitchen and washer/dryer right in our own unit is devine and is an absolute must-have for us. If you are looking for action and bright, shiny, totally modern & new construction, this probably isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxed comfortable tropical environment located amongst friends, then we would recommend this condo. We have had friends/family come to visit us at this condo, and to this day, they continue to comment on the amazing views the condo has. Barbara has always been easy to work with and more than fair in the prices she charges us - and for that, we are very appreciative. She goes out of her way to make sure we have everything we need and that we have every comfort possible for our holiday. You just don't find service like that anymore!

Needs TLC

  • 2 of 5

Pros - This place is just a few steps away from the ocean, so you do have a beautiful ocean view, can see the sunrise in the morning, and listen to the sound of the waves at night. The kitchen, living room layout is good and functional.

Neutral - This place is at a harbor, there is no beach to hang out at, just the ocean to look at. It's also really quiet, you can hardly see any people around. We were aware of that, only stayed here for the location because we needed to take a boat trip at the harbor early one morning, and drive to the water falls the next.

Cons - There are some major issues at this place:

1. The bedroom ceiling is completely filthy and disgusting. It's a popcorn ceiling that is cover with a thick layer of black dust, and all the dust is constantly being blown around by the ceiling fan because you need to have the fan on to keep the room cool. When you are lying in bed, unless you immediately close your eyes, you will have to look at these disgusting black things all the time, and wonder which piece is going to fall on your face or into your hair. I don't know how the owners could treat their guests with so little respect and give them such a disgusting environment. You come to Hawaii to enjoy its beauty, but this place will make you endure its filth. And forget about trying to be romantic in bed, because once again, unless you have your eyes shut all the time, you be looking at a disgusting filthy ceiling which really really kills the mood. All you can think about is which piece of the black dust is going to fall in your eyes or land on your nose!

2. Same thing with the bedroom closet. Make sure you shut the sliding door all the way all the time so that you don't have to look at the old, chipped, dirty looking shelves and some other old stuff inside.

3. We took three additional pillows out of the bedroom closet to use. But once we lay our heads on them, we noticed this unbareable dirty smell of sweat. Sure enough, they all had circles of sweat stains on them... That really made us feel very uncomfortable about all the linens in the condo during our entire stay.

4. The bed is really really hard, like a rock. There is zero cushioning on it. My husband said he couldn't even rotate his head like he normally did any more right after sleeping in that bed for three nights.

Overall, until the owners of this condo fix these issues, I don't recommend anyone to stay at this place.

Owner's Response: Aloha and thanks for the comments but I never know why guests don't contact me while they are here so we can rectify any problems they may be experiencing. It is a quiet area of Maui and that's a draw for many people. Others need more noise and excitement. It's a personal preference. We are on a dead end street with a 5-mile sandy beach at one end (5 to 10 minute walk) and a small harbor with shops and restaurants at the other end (3 minute walk). For the past month we have been experiencing a rebuilding of a culvert in the middle of the block (completed now). Because of this construction this caused red dirt to blow around in enormous amounts and enter condos even with all windows and doors closed. We have been providing interim cleaning in many instances because of this. Because this was a 3 night stay and didn't hear from the guests it was assumed this situation wasn't causing a problem. But certainly if it was it would have been rectified so guests can have a good night sleep and romantic encounters without eyes closed could take place. The king mattress is brand new. Only 2 months old. It's a pillow top. All pillows are checked on a regular basis and upon reading this were taken care of. Not really sure about what was offensive in the bedroom closet. As always we try to make sure all guests have a pleasant stay whether it's 3 nights or 30. The key is we need to know before it's a month past the stay. Guests that were in this condo after this stay raved about it.
