An Excellent Vacation Home in the Jungle!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at this property end of February for several days. The views are stunning at the top of this finca. Was entertained each day by toucans and howler monkeys. Its a few extra minutes in a 4x4 vehicle to get there but well worth the time! Enclosed space is plenty large for a family with a few kids, but spent most of the time on the large deck facing the ocean. There is even a gazebo type area above the house for more private sunset viewings. I highly recommend this place and hope to come back often to enjoy the privacy!

Views, cool breezes and wildlife

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at La Cima for 5 nights in February. Although the cabin is on a 4 wheel drive road, it's a good road the cabin is easy to find at the end of the road. Incredible views. Howler monkeys wake you every morning. I used the road as my wildlife trail every morning. I saw something different every day. White faced monkeys were seen by the cabin every day. Toucans, aracaris, parrots, humming birds, agoutis, etc...Caretakers are down the hill if you have questions or need anything. If you have or rent a local cell phone, the cabin gets an amazing signal. Use your phone as a hotspot and you and your family can surf the net and stay connected. Really a great home base for exploring. I was able to stay caught up on emails and blog my trip while relaxing on the deck watching the white faced monkeys play in the trees across a short valley. Very comfortable at night. Fans were perfect. No need for ac as you need a light blanket to stay warm when sleeping. Just an amazing setting. There are a few stairs so you shouldn't be mobility challenged. No pool, but access to the Ballena national park and ocean is free through a local Beach club and they have a pool there.

Unique and tucked at the end of the road

  • 3 of 5

My stay was two months at Cabina La Cima. I have stayed at a few VRBO homes. This time I was alone and this location was perfect for my needs. I cooked simple meals for myself and drove to my project every day. Morning and evening on the balcony puts you in a Pura Vida state.

From the highway it is a 15-20 minute drive up a winding trail to 1000 foot altitude. It is in a gated community so you must open and lock this gate on every trip. The road and especially the driveway is quite steep. You will not climb the last 50 ft. without 4x4. If you cannot make it up the drive there is a parking space below. You would have to walk up the steep drive. If you do park at the house it is covered. This cabin has no yard to sit in as it is on a slope. The balcony can comfortably seat four people. The view is very nice.

Although it sleeps 4-5 people it is one room with a small bathroom. The counter space and fridge space are quite limited. This place would be great for a group on a budget. The hot and cold running water worked fine the whole time. There is a gas BBQ and gas burner to use on the balcony. Laundry is hand wash and sun dry.

Like many places in the area, there is a neighbor less than 200 feet away. If you are loud they can hear well because this cabin is higher up. The neighbor is also the property manager so they are nearby if you have an issue. Tom and Chris are great people, busy every day and home early. Like most locals they do not stay up late so a party group in this cabin would be inappropriate.

If you are looking to get away from people for a bit and have some privacy, this is a nice place. Or if you are on an adventure every day and just need the basics every night to clean up and rest then this would work very well. There are howler monkeys that live in the area. Sometimes they are right beside the house. You will hear them every morning.

I enjoyed my stay at Cabina La Cima. I would recommend this house for those who are self sufficient and confident. There are many versions of life in paradise. This one has its own charm. The value is good if you are on a budget. Have a good vehicle and a good attitude and enjoy the wonderful country. Uvita is one of my favorite places in the world.
