About Kathryn Wilson or Brooke Hanson

We have lived on Lake Kampeska for sixteen years. This area of Kampeska boasts the best sandy beach on the lake. Our children and grandchildren also live in the neighborhood and can be seen enjoying all the lake has to offer.

Kathryn Wilson or Brooke Hanson purchased this house in 2014

Why Kathryn Wilson or Brooke Hanson chose South Dakota

We bought this home because it reminded us of our farm house near Redfield, SD. All of the original oak woodwork, wood burning fireplace, oak floors and spacious, tree filled lot are some of the reasons we had to have it. We live across the street from our rental property.

What makes this house unique

This older two-story home was built in 1919. It has original hardwood floors and many, oak built-ins throughout the home. Enjoy the view of the lake from the ten foot window seat. Exquisite craftsmanship is showcased throughout. The kitchen has been updated with new cabinetry, granite countertops, island and gas stove.

Beautiful old home

  • 4 of 5

The house is beautifully restored but the bathrooms were not the most convenient. There were 9 of us. We were also disappointed that it was across the road from the lake. The kitchen supplies were not adequate. No pantry items so be sure to bring everything. There was paper towels. The fishing was great. Grandchildren were happy. We caught some of the biggest sunfish we have even seen. Bass were plentiful. Lake is very busy during the weekend. We had hot and humid weather and the house stayed cool. Owners were friendly and helpful. All in all we had a good week.

Owner's Response: Diane, thank you for taking the time to write a review. Our kitchen is fully equipped with glassware, silverware, pots, pans, hot pads, kitchen towels, utensils, platter, cutting board, blender, coffee maker, mixing bows and knife block. Pantry supplies are limited to salt and pepper. I am glad your grandchildren had a good time and the fishing was successful.

Well maintained property

  • 5 of 5

This is a great get away spot. Beautiful home, very clean and comfortable. I reserved this property for a multi-family get away, June 5 thru June 9, 2017. There was 11 of us, 6 adults and 5 small children. There was enough space for all of us. We had beautiful weather and enjoyed being outside either playing on the swings, playing at the beach or relaxing on the patio. Quiet location with a view of the lake. It was nice not to be on the lake, but adjacent to the lake, with 5 small children we didn't worry about them venturing to the lake on their own. We had a couple of needs and the owners responded quickly. For our first time renting a vacation home it was a positive experience. Thanks for the bottle of wine, after a busy day with family this grandma appreciated a glass of wine.
