This beachfront property is on the quieter North side of Puerto Viejo in the Playa Negra community.
The beach is just a few steps through the almond tree, coconut palm, and flower filled jungle yard!
And the property sits in the middle of a large bay with SPECTACULAR views in all directions!!
The beachfront is PRISTINE and PRIVATE!! You can walk and explore the beach and nearby jungle for hours of tranquility without being disturbed.
The property is well suited to host larger groups of friends and family but is also small enough to be an intimate retreat!
There is a STAND ALONE MAIN HOUSE with 2 beds/2 baths that sleeps 5 (4 in beds - with couch and a crib also available).
And there are TWO separate and fully equipped studio apartments in another building. Each studio apartment sleeps 1-3 people and has its own private sleeping, lounging, eating, kitchen, and bathroom space.
The main house and apartments each have ALL things you need for a comfy stay, just like HOME!
There is a HUGE screened-in porch attached to the main house and facing the beach, complete with hammocks and a picnic table for many hours of enjoyment with the waves as your background noise!
**Our pictures are labeled at the bottom, so you can get a better feel for the property, house and apartment layout.**
If you want maximum privacy, rent the entire property (even if you won't use the apartments) for only a small amount more than the main house alone. **This is the option most of our guests prefer!**
Posted price estimate is for main house only; inquire for full property pricing.
ABOUT THE AREA:
In Playa Negra, there is a small grocery store, a multipurpose store, and three unique bar/restaurants within a very short walk from the property (less than a half mile).
And if you desire more social interaction, the center of town (Puerto Viejo de Talamanca) is just a breath taking jaunt down the beach or road. 20 minutes on foot, 5 minutes on bike.
Keep going South past Puerto Viejo and you can visit all of the beaches that the Caribe Sur has to offer! Playa Chiquita, Playa Cocles, Punta Uva, and Manzanillo...and all the hidden treasures in-between!
There is a bus stop at the end of our road and the bus can take you anywhere along the coast and in/out of San Jose! Cabs are also available 24/7.
In Puerto Viejo and beyond, you will find a plethora of eateries suitable to every palate and lots of live music venues, shops, and brilliant locals and international visitors. There are several grocery stores, pharmacies, car, bike and scooter rental shops, clothing and souvenir shops, tour and excursion offices, and banks.
There are endless things to do in the area of Puerto Viejo!! There are zip line jungle tours, yoga and fitness classes, several great animal rescue centers and sanctuaries to visit, fishing expeditions, snorkeling, surf lessons, Caribbean cooking classes, guided jungle hikes to beautiful waterfalls, horse back riding on the beach, permaculture and organic farming tours, and tours through the indigenous lands with the native BriBri tribe....just for starters!

This property has it all for us....and for you!!
We have traveled all throughout Costa Rica and we absolutely fell in love with Puerto Viejo and the Caribe Sur! Its a warm and welcoming town, that offers a surprising array of activities for its small size, while still affording visitors and locals alike much serenity. The vibe in PV is second to no other that I have experienced in my travels! Conscious and Chill.
This property is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! It stole my heart b/c it really does have it all! A very quiet and pristine beach is your backyard, a private pool is yours to splash in, and its polished off with a comfy home full of amenities as well as 2 separate Caribbean style apartments! Not to mention an amazing property manager who is a local expert and will make your stay as effortless as you desire it to be! WOW!!
Variety and Versatility! Tranquility and Rejuvenation! Nature and Exploration!
You will love lounging in the hammocks while listening to the waves. The private pool is beyond refreshing, even for you absolute ocean lovers, it will go to good use! The house is private and very secure, sitting on a row of about 6 other beachfront homes, mostly vacation rentals like ours - so bring your whole crew and rent the block! Did I mention Susana, our amazing property manager? She will ensure your questions are answered and help you arrange activities and even transportation to and from our home - even front door pick up for adventure trips! She lives just 3 houses down, and loves to help make your stay everything you dream it to be!
PLUS we offer 3 bicycles and 2 boogie boards on site for your use for free (with small refundable deposit)!!
We spent 7 days at this house and just loved every minute of it. We had 2 teenage girls with us who just loved having the choice between going to the beach right in front of the house or just floating in the pool. Plenty of amazing restaurant to choose from. Make sure to go see the jaguar rescue center, cahuita park, the chocolate farm (the mango walk) and a 3 hr horse tour . We will be back for sure. Thank you Susana for all your help.
We had a great time in Puerto Viejo. The house was great! Plenty of space for a family of 4. The property includes two other small apartments that can be rented out if you are with a large group. We loved being close to the beach. There is a small lap pool which our 8 and 12 yo especially enjoyed. Puerto Viejo is close by - 15 minutes by bike or 5 minutes by car. The property manager, Susanna, who is an American expat was wonderful and very helpful during our stay by giving us advice on the different activities in the area. She was prompt in answering any of our questions. We would definitely stay here again!
My wife and I wanted to check out Costa Rica and were a little apprehensive, not knowing much about the country , but we saw this ad and decided to go for it!
We flew into San Jose and stayed there for the night then got a shuttle the next morning to Puerto Viejo. They took us right to the front door, no problems at all! Susanna who manages the property lives three houses down and met us there. She gave us a list of fun things to do along with numbers of people to call to help with different tours.
The property is absolutely beautiful! We immediately fell in love with the area. I would describe it as very "laid back". Most people either walk or ride bikes. We walked along the beach into town most days, which in reality is more like a 30 minute walk, but one where you thoroughly enjoy each moment! The ocean is breathtaking and at times you truly have your own private beach right outside your back yard!
We wanted to see how the locals lived and we noticed that everyone just seemed happier and less stressed than in the states. We found our own little "soda" or small open air restaurant that we loved where we could get a great meal for $6.
There is much to do there if you feel like it. We did visit a wildlife preserve and a cocoa farm close by. But the greatest thing was just walking along the beach, taking a dip in the ocean or relaxing in the swimming pool. We were there only a week but can't wait to return!
Once again, Susana was a great help and we would recommend this place to anyone! So glad we found it!
Spent 9 glorious days in Playa Negra / Puerto Viejo. The house is as described with a comfortable layout and everything you could possibly need. A/C, WIFI, and washer/dryer were great! There is a screened porch with a hammock and lying in it while listening to the pounding surf was great. Saw parrots and parakeets and poison dart frogs on the property and were visited by a horse, a donkey, and sweet black dog. Susanna was always available, either in person or electronically and was very helpful with information and suggestions. There was a small market and a restaurant at the end of the street which was very convenient. You can also catch the bus that runs from Limon to Manzanillo at the end of street. Easy to catch and very affordable. The lushness of the jungles and the solitude of the beach were my favorite things. Everyone we met was very helpful and friendly. Don't speak Spanish, but had no language issues at all. We went hiking in Cahuita and Manzanillo, visited the Jaguar Rescue Center, went to to local organic farmers' market, had a fabulous breakfast at Bread and Chocolate and even got a massage in Puerto Viejo while listening to howler monkeys in the trees outside! Already making plans for a return visit to this little slice of heaven.
We stayed for 9 days in July 2016. Wonderful home, comfortable for us. Good to have A/C for our first trip! Great location. Bus stop (easy to get around) and restaurant at the end of the street. Great local community. Susanna, Oscar, Renee all so helpful and patient! Easy walk to town but rent a bike - $6/day. Beach behind the home is beautiful! Many friendly people to meet everywhere. Costa Rica loves you! It's a long day's travel to/from the house so be prepared for that and give yourself enough time to enjoy your trip (an extra day). Favorite things - well cared for home, Susanna's help answering all our questions, friendly people worked with us, Asia's visits, location, house wi-fi, hot shower, screened porch hammock, pool, towels and linens, washer/dryer, beautiful, lush plants everywhere. Wish I could say more but you just have to go. We arranged tours and transport with Gecko and everything went very smoothly. Be sure to check out Manzanillo and Cahuita, both easy trips. Also the Jaguar Rescue Center was awesome (bring them some powered goat's milk for the baby monkeys). Local farmer's market was wonderful also. Go early, by 7 a.m. Many businesses in town take american dollars but colones are easy to get in town. Bring your passport to the bank when converting $. Also don't be afraid of speaking any level of Spanish - everyone we met was so helpful to us. People will be glad to teach you. We liked the butcher/bike shop/ and massage center on Calle 215 in town - all spoke English, kind and helpful. Also try meals at Bread and Chocolate.
This is a place with options! Stay on the homestead and relax....or get out there and do something fun! There is hiking, deepsea fishing, four wheeling, white water rafting, jungle excursions, horseback riding, zip lining and much more. Let us know in advance what interests you so we can book it for you!
There are also many great international restaurants, bars, live music venues, public beaches, and wildlife sanctuaries to visit.
There is an amazing mind+body+soul vibe in PV, including highly revered yoga practices, organic local farms to tour and learn about permaculture at, a Saturday farmer's markets with unique finds, and indigenous tribal and afro-Caribbean influences and learning opportunities.
