Bayou Maison is all on one level with no stairs to climb. The property boasts a private waterfront cove with a large deck house. Property has over 500 ft. on Bayou Bonfouca with water skiing, fishing, boating and all types of wildlife. Across the bayou from the property is 1200 acres of national wildlife preserve.

Loved this home.

  • 5 of 5

We happened upon this house, wanting to meet up with friends halfway between Florida and Texas. We were extremely impressed and loved the home. It was cozy. We always bring extra toilet paper, paper towels, etc when staying at a HomeAway, because the owner never seems to leave enough. This home had everything you could think of, plus more - so generous and thoughtful. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We hope to return again soon.

No water access!!!

  • 3 of 5

The house and inside accommodations were great. If we were merely seeking a place to eat and sleep the house was great. We were hoping to enjoy the outdoors and the river. We have a boat and some would have liked to fish in the bayou. The dock and deck is quite a hike from the house through fairly thick grass, a path with pavers would certainly have made the hike easier, particularly for those of us approaching our senior years. A ceiling fan or two would certainly make the deck a more hospitable place to relax during the warm Louisiana afternoons and early evenings. Vegetation needs to be removed from the cove to allow access by boat or to fish from the deck. Clearing brush to the right of the cove would give a more panoramic view of the bayou and the boats and water sports taking place on it.

We rented a slip at the Rigolets and comuted to go boating and fishing. Those that remained at the house went and purchased a fan to use on the carport since the ceiling fan out there did 'nt work either. We did manage to have an enjoyable 4th of Julyweekend we friends and family.

Amazingly well-stocked kitchen and responsive hosts

  • 5 of 5

The accommodations were perfect for my a New Years gathering with a large group of friends. We enjoy being in a naturalistic setting that has the feel of a retreat but also being within easy driving distance of a grocery store and other attractions. From this beautiful home that has great views of the bayou and that has a lovely deck/gazebo on which to sit and enjoy nature, we easily drove to and from grocery stores as well as went into New Orleans to enjoy the food and activities there. My group enjoys cooking large meals for many people, both breakfasts and dinners, and the kitchen was so well stocked, possibly better stocked that any rental home we've stayed in previously. Not only are there ample kitchen tools such as waffle irons, durable chefs knives, and pots and pans, but there were more than enough plates, utensils, and dishes. Additionally, the spice rack was well stocked. There were plenty of towels, and the hosts left a good bit of the essentials like toilet paper and paper towels so that in our short stay, we did not have to purchase more. It was great from start to finish. I highly recommend this place.

Great house for relaxing. Lots of beds for a big family or group. Nice open kitchen and living area. Lots of land so it feels secluded.
