PERFECT

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommended this spectacular circa 1800's home. The room is spacious , clean with a fridge, coffee maker and fire place and the area is safe and family oriented. The towels smell so good what's the secret Alex? Lol....Alex is just a pleasure to deal with and accommodating . We will definitely come back to visit your beautiful city and stay at your lovely home. The Durbin's from Florida.

Great place in the heart of the Big Easy, the Garden District. Can't beat the location and the host

  • 5 of 5

A weekend getaway that could have gone very bad. It was a stormy weekend that had my girlfriend arriving some 12 hours before I did with airport delays. Alex helped me out with flowers to keep her company til I got in.

Comfortable and clean place, the location took me back to being a local. The Garden District is the real heart of this city and plenty close to all the more familiar visitor oriented stomping grounds in the Quarter, too. A dozen plus good cafes and restaurants with shops in between on Magazine St, a few blocks from cruising St Charles Ave on a streetcar, and a few minutes from putting yourself at ground zero in the French Quarter.

We had flooding rains over the weekend stay and had our comfortable room to retreat to at will for some peace and quiet between the great food, shops, and nearby music.

You can't beat Alex as a gracious host. When learning my girlfriend would arrive well before me for the weekend getaway, and knowing she knew little of the city, he met her at the street to get her inside and comfortable complete with flowers I had requested waiting for her.

Great job, Alex, and best of luck as your presence on Magazine continues to inevitably grow!

Wonderful. Not the Ritz, but location/price/cleanliness/kindness of Alex are better than the Ritz!

The property was exactly the type of house you want to stay in when visiting NOLA.

The location is amazing right in Magazine St. which is a nice change then the usual Bourbon St. scene. It is also a short Uber ride to the French Quarters, so you really can't beat it. The room is perfect for a couple who want to explore NOLA. Along with the location Alex is a great host and will suggest what to check out and willing to answer any questions you may have. Strongly suggest staying at this place!

Private and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had a very pleasant stay at Alex's place May 26-29. The room is in the back of an old, historic home right on Magazine St. It is obvious that Alex has been making repairs and upgrades as several items looked new. But the beauty of 12 ft. ceilings, hardwood floors, and the general design of the house itself remain.

The private parking and very effective AC are big positives, as is having the refrigerator and microwave. The location is excellent for walking to places to eat, as well as having a bus stop right on the corner. The St. Charles streetcar is about 5 blocks away.

I'm 6'1" and 250 lbs. on an athletic frame. I mention that only to say that people larger than me might have some issues here. The stairs up to the room can be somewhat challenging, especially when wet. I didn't have issues, but others might. The bathroom sink is also fairly tight to the seat. The bed was full-sized and nice, but my feet tended to hang off the end slightly at night. These aren't complaints, just a note for really large people.

Overall, we loved the place and would gladly stay again. Alex was a good host and I felt like I could contact him at any time. Maybe next time we can get a tour of the full house!

Special note: Tracey's is right on the corner. We passed by every day until the last evening, when we had dinner and drinks there. Afterward, we wished we had stopped by every evening. Don't hesitate to stop in. I recommend eating a half muffaletta.
