Cozy, clean , and comfortable cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage. It came just as described, and was the perfect landing spot for our explorations around Volcano National Park. The cottage seems brand new, and had everything we needed, including a very comfortable king size bed. The fireplace was a nice plus. There isn't a TV, and aren't much in the way of surrounding restaurants, but we knew this coming in, and it was not an issue for us. This one does come with a mini fridge, microwave, and small oven/stove unit; so you could make meals if you wanted.

Particularly liked all of the wood in the cottage. It gave a really nice feel, and smelled really good.

Would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a similar spot, and would certainly stay here again if we were back.

Super clean, cute little cottage

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this little cottage. We loved the gas fireplace and the layout of the cabin. And it was VERY clean.

We stayed for two nights and cooked a bit, but we found the provided pans difficult to work with. The grill is a tiny portable, and we were a bit disappointed in that. But we got the impression that most people don't cook when visiting the area, as the local markets are tiny, expensive, and heavy on the frozen variety.

We were surprised when we arrived that the cottage is very close to another cottage. We could hear the occupants washing their dishes in the evening. But overall our stay was comfortable and we had a great time!

Exceeded all expectations!!

Solar foot path lights not sufficient around entry slab of front steps to Mauna Kea.

Coat hooks for rain jackets adjacent to entry way area would be nice (inside or out).

Beautiful detailed and private property

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Mauna Kea cabin. It was very cozy, perfectly located, and private. We cooked most of our meals and appreciated having the kitchen. The only thing we'd suggest is screens on the lanai doors or the front door so you can open it up for ventilation. Really lovely place!

Close to Volcano park and excellent Thai food. Mains Kea is a hidden gem in the rain forest

  • 5 of 5

Mains Kea is neat as a pin inside and out. All the millwork and cabinets appear custom made of teak wood The bamboo floor accents the teak. Pine open beams with skylight provide plenty of natural light.

thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mauna Kea.
