Almost ready for you----A complete remodel of our living room, dining room and kitchen with state-of-the- art appliances including a ten pound ice maker. Keep checking for exciting photos showing all the new features.
Book a fabulous vacation with us and we can hook you up with our premier fishing guide who has a brand-new boat that can accommodate large groups. He tells us that King Salmon will be running in record-breaking numbers now through April, and Pink Salmon will be running in abundance September through October. This looks like an unusually prolific year in the islands for crab and oysters.
We are proud to offer you our quiet, comfortable waterfront home overlooking the wild salmon run on San Juan Channel with exquisite marine views from every window of boat and ferry traffic. King-size beds in the master bedrooms, a hot tub in the solarium, and a massage chair in the living room. Sleeps 7. (Free quote upon request.)
House. It is spacious, secluded, and quiet with sensational marine views from every window.
Exquisite marine views
The most exciting feature of the property is the view of boat and ferry traffic from every window. The last two groups of guests were thrilled to see whales, chasing wild salmon, breech the water again and again in front of the house. As Janet from San Jose remarked, 'This is a truly amazing place with stunning views of Turtle Back Mountain on Orcas Island, Mount Baker and gorgeous sunrises…
Janet commented, …"We loved the helpful staff and have already booked our next stay for our 2017 family reunion. Thank you Jeff and Cheyenne for the wonderful time … We can’t wait to see you next year!"'
The layout of the house:
Upstairs, we have a master bedroom with bath, living room with glassed-in deck for unobstructed views, brand-new kitchen, solarium with hot tub, and another bedroom with a single bed.
Downstairs, there is another master bedroom with bath and another room with twin beds. Laundry facilities are available.
Something else to look forward to---Westcott Bay Oyster Farm. Bill and Doree Webb founded the Westcott Bay Oyster Farm on San Juan Island. They developed a wonderful oyster which is a cross between a Kumamoto and a Pacific Gigas.
The Kumamoto has a very deep bottom shell and an extremely intense flavor but takes two years to grow to the size of a small thumbnail. The Gigas are the prevalent Pacific oyster and grow very fast, reaching four to five inches in only two years. The hybrid of these two varieties is their Westcott Bay Oyster. This is a marvelous attraction and is located a short ten minute drive from our Mineral Point waterfront home.

My name is Jeff Asher. I have lived on San Juan Island for about 29 years and spent the summers here since a young child. I have served the people of San Juan County as emergency dispatcher, deputy sheriff, deputy coroner, detective, and lead detective. I am the founder and coordinator of the county's 20 member dive, search, and rescue team.
I am also the skipper of the Sheriff's Patrol Boat. Recently, my partner and I were honored with an award from the State of Washington for saving four people from drowning when their boat crushed on the rocks in darkness and rough waters.
I have also served as a park ranger at Mount Rainier National Park, British Camp National Historical Park, and Pinnacles National Monument in California.
For relaxation, I enjoy fine woodworking and restoring antique cars. My current project is the restoration of a park train circa 1930 that moved people around Coney Island in New York. We acquired the train from a farm in Sand Point, Pennsylvania, where Flight 93 passed over on the way down to Shanksville.
My special joy is scuba diving with my sons, Russell and Sam. Our future plan: Explore some of the thousands of shipwrecks still underwater around the world.
Jeff Asher purchased this house in 1985
We came back here again this year---great as always. This time we were very fortunate to see whales right below windows.
The property was beautiful! The layout of the rooms allowed my husband and I to have our space and the kids to have theirs in addition to plenty of family space. We used every bit of the property. We barbecued, fished, sat on balcony, played family games at the dining table. We loved the bright open space, stunning views and the wild life we saw for the entire trip. We had a bald eagle fly over the glass room while soaking in the jacuzzi, we saw orcas swimming right in front of the house, we had a sea lion feed right in front of the house every morning. We also had beautiful deer sitting right out by the garage when we would come home after a day of adventure. We would absolutely stay here again. The morning sunrise is stunning!!! You must take advantage of the big windows to enjoy it.
It was a great place to stay with my family. It was quiet, the view (right on the water) was superb and the house had all the necessities needed and was very clean. We really enjoyed our stay and the customer service was excellent. I also liked that it was outside of the town limits but still close enough to town and other sites. I would recommend this vacation house.
This comfy hideaway was an excellent choice for my husband and I during our recent little getaway. Tremendous view with huge windows facing the water. It was very relaxing to watch the birds and seals play. We saw a beautiful sunrise beaming through the master bedroom. Would definitely stay again. Thank you, Jeff, for warming up the hot tub for us!!
This house was a joy to stay in. The side of the house facing the water has giant windows that allow you to feel like you are outside looking out at the sound while still enjoying the comfort of this cozy home. While others might prefer more modern furnishings, I really enjoyed the retro decor of the place. I will definitely be staying here again!
We rented this house for a family wedding. The views are absolutely outstanding. The long deck across the front of the house has a see through railing so you can sit inside or out and enjoy the scenery and boats passing by. There's a little harbor seal that loves the cove in front of the house and we saw him every day we were there.
That being said, the inside of the house is definitely in need of an update and a good cleaning. Lots of cobwebs and spiderwebs in all the rooms and the kitchen utensils, plants and cookware were all dirty and needed to be washed before we could use them. The owners cleaned before we got there (or rather as we got there) but didn't have time to clean the towels and asked us to take care of that. The beds were cleaned but the rest of the house was badly in need of some TLC in terms of dusting, wiping down surfaces and cleaning out corners. They provide 2 dish soap packets and 1 laundry soap packet so bring your own as well as paper towels and trash bags as there were none in the house. Also bring soap for the showers and your own shampoo and hairdryers.
All of that being said, we would use this again just for the view. It was absolutely spectacular.
The Mineral Point residence is a 10 minute drive to Roche Harbor Resort, English Camp a National Historical Park and Westcott Bay Oyster Farm. Mineral Point is an excellent starting and ending point for bicycling on San Juan Island. this residence also shares a sandy community beach which is walking distance from the residence. There are also many activities to do while staying here, including whale watching and hiking around the Westside and South end of the Island and an enormous amount of sight seeing activities. Minutes from Roche Harbor with dining, boating and historical walks through the Mausoleum and surrounding areas. Just minutes from the town of Friday Harbor where you can rent bicycles for the day, or enjoy our many choices of restaurants or just relax and take in the views.
