Great House , Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My family recently rented this house for the weekend and we loved it. My husband was playing in a hockey tournament and the house was only 5 miles away from the rink which worked out perfectly. The house was clean and big enough for the four of us and the dog. The master bedroom was downstairs which worked out great for my Mom. The house is close to the beach and the casinos. We loved the house and would definitely rent this house again!

fabulous property

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our family. The house was spotless and has an open floor plan. The furnishings were great, lots of natural light and the master suite beautiful. We had a question and called Art, who called us back promptly and answered all our questions. I would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again.

Beautiful Home!

  • 5 of 5

A clean, comfortable, and beautiful home in a very quiet neighborhood! We stayed over Thanksgiving and made our feast in the well-stocked kitchen. We lit a Duraflame log in the stone fireplace, played endless hours of rummy, and enjoyed the back deck and patio area on the unusually warm Thanksgiving holiday. The owner was quick to respond to any questions we had about the house or the area; he was also flexible on our arrival time which helped us avoid all the holiday traffic. We brought our own sheets and towels, but they were available if needed. We didn’t use the washer or dryer, but they looked brand-new. We were head over heels with the huge TV for all the football games! We would definitely stay here again. Thank you to Art and his family for allowing us to use their home!

Good if you are a college student

We were a family. We rented for a month in July. This house was not professionally cleaned before our arrival. The house was covered with various deodorizers to cover a musty smell. The house was not well stocked. The stove and BBQ grill were disgustingly dirty. There were very limited pots and pans for cooking. I had to go out and buy some to cook. Art expressed that most people eat out every meal. The Washing machine sounds like a jet taking off. I addressed this issue with Art but the outrageous sound was not enough to replace the machine. He wanted me to wait until it stopped working. The plumbing had two problems due to age of the plumbing. The landlord addressed them promptly. I also felt that flannel sheets in the summer was too much and went out and bought my own for the stay as well as my own towels. No I did not leave the stuff I bought. I could not get comfortable in this house. My 24 year old son stayed upstairs. No window coverings causing the tempeture in the room to be several degrees higher than the rest of the house.

I looked forward to staying in this house after reading all these great reviews. I felt duped! I will never trust VRBO again

Owner's Response: I respectfully dispute most of these items. Understanding that the guest was traveling in from California, I offered to leave the sheets that were at the house for her usage. Most individuals who rent a summer beach house bring their own linens, and my graciousness was totally overlooked by this guest. I cleaned the bbq and the oven before the prior guest utilized the property and overlooked them when the house was cleaned. When the guest complained about these items, I immediately offered to go there and clean them, and did just that. The property was not used from Memorial Day weekend until June 30th, and had been closed up for that time period. Due to this and with most beach houses, they have a musty smell from the soil near the beach. I always use air fresheners to make the house more inviting and everyone who stayed has been pleased. This guest told me she had allergies to fragrances and removed them, which I totally understood. The property has pots and pans and my guest told me she needed more because her husband was Italian and she needed to use all 4 burners on the stove, therefore needing multiple pots and pans of every size to accommodate all of her cooking. The washing machine had been overloaded by a prior guest and has a noisy bearing. I immediately had a service call placed and it was recommended that I continue using it as it was not broken, just noisy. I reassured this guest that if it broke, I would immediately replace it that day so she was not without a washer. This guest failed to share the nice things I did like letting her check in a day early, buying her 3 beach passes that she ended up losing one and offered to pay for and didn't, as well as upgrading the cable TV package at my expense to meet her expectations. She does mention that a plumber was there promptly to fix two items that never were an issue before (toilet handle broken off and a faucet handle ripped off.) After these expensive service calls, the plumber felt both of these repairs could have been avoided and we're done on spite. To conclude, the property is a well cared for house that was built in 1988. Everything has been kept up to comfortable standards and will be enjoyed by many more appreciative guests going forward. I wish this guest luck finding the perfect property to meet her unreasonable expectations in the future.
