cute rental adjacent to major thoroughfare
we are veteran pet friendly vacation renters in palm springs since the late nineties. first let me say that dennis, the property manager, is a doll ... friendly, helpful, informative. this home was built in the thirties and despite the fact they've decorated it very nicely, it's dark with a dearth a lighting. i had a hard time working on my computer and reading the paper but i'm old so that could have been a contributing factor. the house is on the corner of alejo and sunrise. sunrise is major street with a lot of traffic. unfortunately the bedrooms are directly adjacent to sunrise so the traffic noise at night is VERY LOUD. also, i don't know if it's every saturday night, but there was drag racing at around 2:00 a.m. several rounds. in addition, the home has two gates: one immediately to your right as you turn off of sunrise that is opened and closed manually; the other on the little side street right after the first gate. the second gate has an automatic opener that is much safer to enter and exit from. unfortunately, the opener didn't work and we were forced to use the first manual gate that required two people in order to exit and enter safely. super annoying. my husband liked the pool. the dogs liked the grassy area. washer and dryer are ancient. had to plunge the guest bathroom toilet. overall it's an okay rental, but the traffic noise is a total deal breaker.
Cool property... Wonderful pool!
From check in to departure, the whole experience was wonderful!!!
A gem of a house
This rental was great. It was the perfect combination of swank mid-century and homey charm. We unpacked our bags and everything was ready for us. We forgot to pack a hairdryer and the manager showed up promptly with one for us to use. Despite the age of the house, there plenty of outlets, and those areas that needed more were already fully equipped with surge protectors. The two large bedrooms, would make it ideal for a pair of couples looking to share, but have their privacy. Each bedroom had its own bathroom and its own door to the fenced courtyard. It was walkable (although Palm Springs is not the best waking town) to town and the design district. It was also quick to everywhere else we wanted to go. (Grocery stores, Airport etc.) Walking through the Movie Colony Neighborhood was almost like stepping back the car centric suburbia that defines the mid 20th century. It was also an easy day-trip to Joshua Tree, the Salton Sea and many other hiking trails. Our first few days were during a spell of warm weather so we even heated the pool and enjoyed some swims for those first few day.
