About the property

A deluxe school bus located off Hwy 1, 1.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean, provide a secluded, sunny off-grid artistic getaway, with organic gardens, outdoor tubs & 'malibu shower', plus fully equipped kitchen, wood-stove & on-demand hot water.

Converted into my home over a decade ago, this bus served as my home until I bought this property in 2006, and it has since been the deluxe guest bus. It is very comfortable and comes with all the luxury one would expect in a cabin -- hot water, full kitchen, refrigerator, and queen bed. It should be noted however, that the ceiling is only 6 foot high, and thus my not be suited to tall people! Also, there is a private toilet, but it is not inside the bus...instead it is a short jaunt from the front door.

Also, I suggest bringing flip flops or some kind of easy on and off shoes, both for the bus and the bathroom jaunt. I request that the bus be kept as a 'no shoes' environment, as I am discovering that the enviro oak flooring is quite sensitive to wear.

Built mainly from recycled & resourced second hand materials, the bus is a 1985 Chevy with a Detroit Diesel engine. Her interior was designed with the 'live lightly on the land' aesthetic and all appliances were chosen because they work well with solar power, including propane fridge and oven/stove and wood stove.

The bus can sleep kids up to 15 years of age and additional bedding is available -- however it is not 'child-proofed' so probably not the best for a toddler. Furthermore, I'm willing to consider small dogs (15 lbs and under), but the bus will not accommodate medium and big-sized dogs.

Guests have access to wireless internet, landline phone service, covered parking, the malibu shower, and his & her tubs (though drought sensitive so won't be available unless there is rain). Additional amenities such as yoga, gardening, mushroom hunting expeditions ( and guided walks are available for an additional fee.

I am usually home, but if not me, I have another person living on the property who will show you the ropes if I am traveling. I am available to answer questions and help direct people to things to do in the area. Guests will be required to prepare their own food.

I live in the sunny 'banana belt' part of the coast. Often the fog is just down the road, but not here. The property has full southern exposure, which means it is light all day long.

One needs a car. And covered parking is included.

Wood heat for longer stays will be negotiable. Different seasons require different wood usage. A wood surcharge may apply for those staying longer than a week.

Smoking is allowed on the property, but not indoors. Small pets well groomed pets are allowed, but NO large dogs (really only lap dogs). Guests must realize that the property is off grid, and thus electricity use needs to be monitored and respected -- no toaster ovens, electric heaters, etc.

I prefer that people take off their shoes in the bus, as it is a small space and dirt gets tracked in very easily.

Also, we compost and recycle, and because I am rural, there is no garbage pick up, so I would appreciate your taking any 'landfill-type' garbage with you. Recycling and compost bins are provided.

Finally, mine is a clothing optional property, though if you feel uncomfortable with that, my land mate and I will refrain from public nudity. We are respectful and comfortable in our bodies and do not wish to offend or scare anyone away. Please let me know when booking if this is an issue and we will accommodate your wishes.

Upon reservation, you will receive a guide to the property and its particulars and house rules.
