About Laura and Michael Knotts

We are a happy couple whose lives center around faith, family, and friends. We love the beach, cooking and sharing meals and conversation with friends, traveling everywhere, books, and movies. Michael is a surfer and runner, and he can teach ANYONE (except me) how to surf, and he knows all the good running trails. Our motto is: “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”

Why Laura and Michael Knotts chose Isle of Palms

It's a 5 minute walk to the beach next to two of Michael's surf spots, in a tree-shaded quiet neighborhood, and a couple of blocks from the connector to Charleston. It is convenient and comfortable. It is a duplex, so we rent one unit and keep the other free for us on weekends when the waves are good! It's a great retreat and vacation. Perfect for running, walking, kayaking, boating...

What makes this house unique

The location is great--close to the beach, affordable, and child-friendly. You can use it as headquarters for the beach or for touring Charleston. Friends can stay together to save on high housing costs in Charleston and enjoy the beach at the same time.

Perfect for our family of 5

Everything was great for our two adults and three kids (12, 10, 5). The house was a perfect size and had everything we needed. The Knotts were very quick to respond to our couple of questions, and they are extremely nice people. The location is central for anything you want to do on the island, and it's a short dive to Charleston and Mount Pleasant. When we go back to Isle of Palms, we'll definitely plan our trip around dates available for this house.

The Knotts' property was great for us to visit our daughter and celebrate Christmas with her. It provided ample room and was close to the beach. We hope to return another time.

Best location on Isle of Palms - Beach, Shopping, Restaurants.

Everything was pretty much as advertised. Older house with some old house ailments; bathroom mold, electric outlets, rust and so forth but still more than adequate for our purposes. Hosts very friendly and helpful.

Location is wonderful: easy walk to beach, excellent restaurants, groceries and beverage shopping. One could park the car and have a great vacation.

That being said, access to Charleston and surrounding areas is very convenient and fast.

This property is an exceptional value for family and friends willing to put up with a few inconveniences (just one TV, for example) and not expecting luxurious appointments. My children and grandchildren are already making arrangements to return.

I was disappointed with VRBO interpretation of dates ( or, perhaps my misunderstanding). We had to vacate the premise a day earlier than planned as the from and through date really means from and TO date. In my view four weeks means 28 days (or nights) not 27. The reservation did indicate 27 nights but also said through the day we had to vacate - my bad, but still disconcerting.

Hosts and property were fine, though and I hope to enjoy both again.
