Spectacular View in the Middle of Wine Country: Private 1-Bedroom Guesthouse

Bedrooms 1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

A private place on a hillside with access to wineries, beaches, hiking & more!

This 1-bedroom, 1-bath hideaway can sleep 2 people comfortably. It is situated in the hills of west Atascadero on the backside of the coastal mountains, high above the valley that stretches for miles. It is perched in the oak trees making this a spectacular, private, “tree-house” setting.

In addition to stunning views, this apartment is located in the heart of wine country with easy access to the central coast beaches, hiking trails, and restaurants. Paso Robles, with over 300 wineries is 15 minutes away, and San Luis Obispo is a 25-minute drive. Avila Beach, Cayucos Beach, Morro Bay, and Cambria are approximately 20-30 minutes away.

Airy and cozy, this place is newly remodeled with all new stainless steel appliances - dishwasher, microwave and stove, granite counters, tile flooring, fireplace, flat-screen TV with DVD player and a queen-size bed and full pull-out bed (in case 2 people want separate beds). The outdoor patio overlooks a million dollar view and a place to watch the wildlife; a perfect place to relax for a quiet morning coffee or sip the local wine while watching the beautiful sunset.

Owners, Bill and Paula, are retired educators and world travelers. They will be glad to give you suggestions about special places to visit and things to do in the area. With advanced notice they can arrange a driver for you to go wine tasting. This is a place you will want to come back to as often as possible.

About Bill or Paula Geibel

Bill and Paula are now retired. Bill was a school teacher for over 30 years, and Paula was a school psychologist and family therapist. They have travelled in many different countries and have lived in Singapore, Fiji, and Bolivia. They are friendly and willing to provide any guidance you may need in finding all the fun places and beautiful attractions to see in the area. They live on the property, but they respect other's privacy and are available if needed.

Why Bill or Paula Geibel chose Central Coast

We love this area, because of the beautiful location of views on every side of the property. The air is clean and crisp and you can feel 'away from it all', yet still be close enough to restaurants, beautiful beaches, hiking/walking, and fantastic wineries.

What makes this house unique

There is something therapeutic about being surrounded by hills and trees and fresh air. We think you will love being semi-secluded on this hilltop perch that overlooks the north county wine country and coastal mountains.

Amazing location!!

  • 5 of 5

This was an amazing location with a beautiful view. It was exactly what my husband and I needed. The guesthouse was clean, quiet and equipped with everything we needed. I loved that they provided coffee and tea, and that it was equipped with a fridge, stove , microwave, toaster oven and kettle. We slept in on both days and made our own breakfast. Paula and Bill were very friendly, helpful and easygoing. We definitely will book this place again without question and will recommend it to anyone that's headed that way. Thank you again Paula and Bill for a wonderful stay.

Outstanding view, great location near Paso Robles wine country

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent three wonderful nights in this small apartment overlooking beautiful hills near Paso Robles. Each day we went out exploring and wine tasting, eager to get back to our oasis on the hill.

We ate breakfast and a dinner outside on the patio, where we watched deer walk by and quail in the field across the way. We were so lucky to have a family of acorn woodpeckers nesting in the oak outside the door. We watched the adults come and go feeding the babies we could hear cheeping inside.

The kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed for simple dinners (no oven) and breakfasts. Quiet nights were restful in the comfy bed.

We've already recommended it to friends and will consider ourselves lucky if we can go back one day.

Owners were very responsive. Everything was clean and true to description

  • 4 of 5

Lovely little space for 2 people for a few days of wine touring. Much better value $ on the weekends than hotels in Paso Robles. Bed is quite comfy, and we felt the bedroom was slightly bigger than the pictures suggest. All areas were very clean and well-kept, including the bathroom. Doesn't look old or run down at all..our guess is the owners re-invest $$ to keep it looking tip-top. All appliances operational; plenty of kitchen supplies/accessories. The small patio really has a spectacular view, and is a great place to hang out with wine/cheese/apps as long as the summer sun isn't beating down DIRECTLY on it at mid-day. Most of the time there is a nice breeze. No A/C, but it never felt HOT or stuffy inside...even in June. Full access to DirecTV, DVD player. Couch folds out to a bed, but I think 3 people is a squeeze here...1-2 is perfection. Property is tucked several back roads off the highway which = super-quiet but slightly longer commute times. Watch out for deer when you're driving...they're everywhere! The towns of SLO and Paso are both reachable in <30min. Great experience. We would go back...and we are picky, lol.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review! glad you enjoyed your stay. Just so future guests know, the apartment is north-facing so it never gets direct sun on it; that's why it does stay cool even on those warm, summer days. And you are absolutely correct, the place is ideal for 2 people and no more. The couch-bed is strictly there for those guests who do not want to sleep in the same bed. We would love to have you back again!

Quiet with Spectacular View

  • 5 of 5

This was a very nice getaway for my husband and I. We just wanted to relax in a quiet setting and it was perfect for the two of us. The view was by far the best ever. It was clean, had everything we needed, and was only a few minutes from Atascadero. Great experience and very friendly owners.

Sorry, no pets and no smoking. The apartment has a private entrance and is located on the north side of our main home overlooking miles of the North County: Templeton and Paso Robles. It is quiet and serene, and your privacy is respected.

Please turn off outside porch light during the night while sleeping and also during daylight hours.
The electric heater/fireplace is not thermastatically controlled so you must turn it off manually. Please be sure to turn it off whenever you leave the apartment for safety reasons as well as during the night when you sleep (unless it is too cold to do so). Also, turn off the portable electric heater in the bedroom whenever leaving the premises.
Please, no cooking fish in the apartment. (The next guest will be most appreciative).
