This 1-bedroom, 1-bath hideaway can sleep 2 people comfortably. It is situated in the hills of west Atascadero on the backside of the coastal mountains, high above the valley that stretches for miles. It is perched in the oak trees making this a spectacular, private, “tree-house” setting.
In addition to stunning views, this apartment is located in the heart of wine country with easy access to the central coast beaches, hiking trails, and restaurants. Paso Robles, with over 300 wineries is 15 minutes away, and San Luis Obispo is a 25-minute drive. Avila Beach, Cayucos Beach, Morro Bay, and Cambria are approximately 20-30 minutes away.
Airy and cozy, this place is newly remodeled with all new stainless steel appliances - dishwasher, microwave and stove, granite counters, tile flooring, fireplace, flat-screen TV with DVD player and a queen-size bed and full pull-out bed. The outdoor patio overlooks a million dollar view and a place to watch the wildlife; a perfect place to relax for a quiet morning coffee or sip the local wine while watching the beautiful sunset.
Owners, Bill and Paula, are retired educators and world travelers. They will be glad to give you suggestions about special places to visit and things to do in the area. With advanced notice they can arrange a driver for you to go wine tasting. A massage therapist is available upon special request. This is a place you will want to come back to as often as possible.
Bill and Paula are now retired. Bill was a school teacher for over 30 years, and Paula was a school psychologist and family therapist. They have travelled in many different countries and have lived in Singapore, Fiji, and Bolivia. They are friendly and willing to provide any guidance you may need in finding all the fun places and beautiful attractions to see in the area. They live on the property, but they respect other's privacy and are available if needed.
We love this area, because of the beautiful location of views on every side of the property. The air is clean and crisp and you can feel 'away from it all', yet still be close enough to restaurants, beautiful beaches, hiking/walking, and fantastic wineries.
There is something therapeutic about being surrounded by hills and trees and fresh air. We think you will love being semi-secluded on this hilltop perch that overlooks the north county wine country and coastal mountains.
My husband and I really enjoyed our quiet stay here over the Christmas weekend. We had everything we needed, and we absolutely loved the fireplace and the view; it felt like we were in a treehouse! This is a great place to stay if you're looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway.
Thank you to our wonderful hosts!
Lovely spot, just as pictures show. Great view, nice little deck for relaxation. Very clean, comfy bed. We would stay again!
Clean, quiet and what a view. Nice furnishings and kitchen.....everything you need! Excellent place to stay and visit wine country to the north and south.
What a tranquil place to stay. The room is small but adequate for two people. The views are amazing and we even saw a deer walk almost up to our door. Lot's of privacy and it only took us about 12 minutes to get to Hwy 46 where many wineries are. LOVED IT.
If you are looking for a few days away with your partner with the best view we saw of the area, solitude, a comfortable place to lay your head at night, and everything you need in the kitchen, then stop looking and book this guest cottage. Paula and Bill were wonderful, helping us prior to our arrival with all our needs and were here to greet us when we pulled in late on the first night. Enjoyed watching the wildlife within feet of the cottage while sipping our coffee and the roads around were a great place for a morning run. We hated to leave but look forward to coming back again
First let me say that as we were packing up to leave the guesthouse we were already talking about coming back. It was wonderful to wake up, get a cup of tea, and sit out on the patio and watch the woodpeckers in the trees or the family of quails running by. The evenings were spent with a glass of wine watching the sun set, hoping to see the small family of deer as they were out foraging. If we didn't know the guesthouse was connected to the main house we would swear we were the only people there. It felt like our own private hideaway. We met the hosts, Bill & Paula, our first day there and they were very friendly and had great suggestions for dining and wineries. The guesthouse was exactly as shown in pictures. It's a small space but perfectly comfortable for two adults to stay in. The mattress was comfortable and my husband and I had no problems sleeping at night. The decor was nice and one could relax, get comfortable, and forget you're not in your own house. The house was very clean with plenty of towels and pillows.
Originally, I was hesitant to book this property because I am very much a beach person and we always stay somewhere near the ocean. I let my husband talk me into staying here and I'm so glad he did. First, the price of the guesthouse would have paid for an average quality hotel room and we were able to relax much more than if we had stayed in a hotel. We were able to go grocery shopping for breakfast goodies and snacks and save a few dollars vs. dining out for all meals. Secondly, we were a short drive to Cambria, Morro Bay, or Avilla Beach. We were close to any of our usual haunts we vist when we come down to the central coast. And lastly, did I mention how peaceful it was? It's hard to relax when you're sitting on a bed in a hotel room. We would sit on the porch and watch the sunset and listen to the birds. There were no bugs to worry about and no traffic noises. This is definitely a place to go to get away.
Located right in the heart of wine country with over 400 wineries to choose from for wine tasting. We can help arrange for a driver so you can visit multiple wineries and not worry about driving. Five central coast beaches are within 20-30 minute drive where you can fish, surf, rent kayaks and paddle boards, walk the beach, and sun-bathe. Many hiking trails are nearby. A local spa and hot mineral springs are easily accessible. Tennis courts and golf courses are also nearby. Or simply relax on the patio while overlooking the views with your wine or coffee and watch the wildlife in this rural setting.

Sorry, no pets and no smoking. The apartment has a private entrance and is located on the north side of our main home overlooking miles of the North County: Templeton and Paso Robles. It is quiet and serene, and your privacy is respected.
Please turn off outside porch light during the night while sleeping and also during daylight hours.
The electric heater/fireplace is not thermastatically controlled so you must turn it off manually. Please be sure to turn it off whenever you leave the apartment for safety reasons as well as during the night when you sleep (unless it is too cold to do so). Also, turn off the portable electric heater in the bedroom whenever leaving the premises.
