About the Property

4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 9

Our beautiful, fully updated home with sweeping open floor plan features a chef's kitchen, brand-new screened-in porch, outdoor deck, and soaring cathedral ceilings -- all sitting on a private point at the end of Vanessa's Way. The property opens to an exquisite 65-acre salt marsh, affording both sunrise and sunset views.

The property is minutes to all things in Wellfleet: town, the ponds, the bay, the ocean. And we are just a 10-minute walk to the Pilgrim Springs Conservation Area trail system.

For swimming, Burton Baker Beach is an easy 15-minute walk and the fabulous beaches of Indian Neck are just around the corner.

Many secrets await, such as Paine Hollow, the little-known beach at the end of King Philip Road. Great for sunsets!

At spring and new moon tides, as they're called (no relation to the season), you'll see water views on the marsh for hours (sometimes both mornings and evenings).

We welcome well-behaved dogs with vigilant owners (we're dog-owners ourselves) because there is no better place in the world for dogs to call home than Cape Cod.

All bedrooms have AC. So does the downstairs den area. Dozens of windows allow breezes to flow through the house.

The home features two expansive sitting areas, 4 real bedrooms, 2 full baths plus separate outdoor shower (new in 2015), and an office loft with soaring cathedral ceiling overlooking the living room. Super-high-speed WiFi and two large-screen HDTV s offer more than 140 Comcast-supplied stations. A new Weber gas grill sits just outside on the deck.

Fully updated kitchen features stainless GE Profile appliances, an island with seating for 6 and any cooking tool you'll likely need for a week on the Cape (we are home chefs). The kitchen opens to the screened-in porch for trouble-free outdoor dining.

Main living area, with floor-to-ceiling fireplace, truly lets the outside in with massive picture windows.

We are less than a 10-minute drive to the start of the Cape Cod Rail Trail, the Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Center, the famous Chequessett Golf Course and Yacht Club, several tennis clubs, unforgettable hiking and kayaking, and, of course, the famous, wonderful spring-fed swimming and boating 'ponds.' The Cape Cod National Seashore envelops the area on both bay and beach sides.

We gladly offer ideas for all sorts of things to do in the area, from tennis to golf, hiking to berry picking, biking to walking, mini-golf to maxi-eating. Just check out The Big Book filled with laminated guides in our living room.

Our home is available for Sunday-to-Sunday weekly rentals during the high season of summer and 3-night-minimum rentals the rest of the year.

The Cape Cod National Seashore, created on August 7, 1961 by President John F. Kennedy, encompasses 43,607 acres on Cape Cod. It includes ponds, woods and beachfront of the Atlantic coastal pine barrens ecoregion. Over 40 miles & 40,000 acres of dune-filled beaches, salt marshes & hiking & cycling paths are part of the seashore region.

Hiking trails also abound in Wellfleet, including the wonderful Pilgrim Springs Conservation Area steps from our home!

Swimming in the fabulous kettle ponds is a must. And you'll be minutes to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, which runs 22 miles right from Wellfleet!

Other attractions include: mini-golf, the best (and cheapest) ice cream you'll find anywhere, tennis and pro golf, kayaking, and all the activities that you can find through a National Park system. We offer a complete binder filled with ideas!

Owner info

Year Purchased: 2014

About the owner: My husband, Joel, and I live in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We fell in love with the Cape as dog-owners and seek to make our home in Wellfleet a haven for animal lovers and their pets -- and, of course, for families, couples and all who want to enjoy the serenity, peace and pleasures that adorn Cape Cod! Joel is a restaurant owner and chef, and he has ensured that the kitchen is well-stocked with all you'll need to make delicious meals at home. For my part, I want to share with you all I've learned about the many outdoor adventures to be had on the Cape. And I hope you'll like my home decor and my garden. I am an art historian and I am building a Kunstkammer outside the home (check it out!). We both hope you'll find our home welcoming and carefully planned; we spend a lot of time here, and you'll find our property does not feel like a rental. Great care has been taken to offer a luxurious and thoughtful experience for our guests! Though we travel widely outside the United States, our time on the Cape is special. When we decided to purchase a home, Wellfleet was the only town we considered. And this home on Vanessa's Way was love at first sight. We had never seen such an unusual property -- so close to so much yet so private and open. We will welcome you with care and attention and hope you will come to love 65 Vanessa's Way, Wellfleet, and the Cape, and return for many years to come!

Why the Owner Chose Wellfleet, MA, USA:
We purchased this home in 2014. And we literally looked at just two properties before dashing to buy it. We love the privacy, on one hand, and the open floor plan and expansive views on the other. Access to morning walks with our rescue dog, to biking, to mini-golf, to fabulous ice cream, and the ability to see the most exquisite sunsets on Planet Earth inspired us to make this home our own. Note that we are updating furniture throughout, and you will see exquisite new pieces (and photos) in 2015! Plus....the new screened-in porch!

The Unique Benefits at this House:
We are dog-lovers and not only will encourage you to bring your pet but will help you find the special places on the Cape that no dog should miss! You'll also love our new outdoor shower, the many birds that frequent the marsh -- from blue herons to cormorants and many others -- and the walks to so many amazing places: the woods, the beaches, the ponds and more. Whether you bike, run, veg out, or anything else, we have ideas for you!
