About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 9

Our beautiful, fully updated home with sweeping open floor plan features a chef's kitchen, brand-new screened-in porch, outdoor deck, and soaring cathedral ceilings -- all sitting on a private point at the end of Vanessa's Way. The property opens to an exquisite 65-acre salt marsh, affording both sunrise and sunset views.

The property is minutes to all things in Wellfleet: town, the ponds, the bay, the ocean. And we are just a 10-minute walk to the Pilgrim Springs Conservation Area trail system.

For swimming, Burton Baker Beach is an easy 15-minute walk and the fabulous beaches of Indian Neck are just around the corner.

Many secrets await, such as Paine Hollow, the little-known beach at the end of King Philip Road. Great for sunsets!

At spring and new moon tides, as they're called (no relation to the season), you'll see water views on the marsh for hours (sometimes both mornings and evenings).

We welcome well-behaved dogs with vigilant owners (we're dog-owners ourselves) because there is no better place in the world for dogs to call home than Cape Cod.

All bedrooms have AC. So does the downstairs den area. Dozens of windows allow breezes to flow through the house.

The home features two expansive sitting areas, 4 real bedrooms, 2 full baths plus separate outdoor shower (new in 2015), and an office loft with soaring cathedral ceiling overlooking the living room. Super-high-speed WiFi and two large-screen HDTV s offer more than 140 Comcast-supplied stations. There's also a brand new sound system with speakers in both the living room and kitchen. A brand new Weber gas grill sits just outside on the deck.

Fully updated kitchen features stainless GE Profile appliances, an island with seating for 6 and any cooking tool you'll likely need for a week on the Cape (we are home chefs). The kitchen opens to the screened-in porch for trouble-free outdoor dining.

Main living area, with floor-to-ceiling fireplace, truly lets the outside in with massive picture windows.

We are less than a 10-minute drive to the start of the Cape Cod Rail Trail, the Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Center, the famous Chequessett Golf Course and Yacht Club, several tennis clubs, unforgettable hiking and kayaking, and, of course, the famous, wonderful spring-fed swimming and boating 'ponds.' The Cape Cod National Seashore envelops the area on both bay and beach sides.

We gladly offer ideas for all sorts of things to do in the area, from tennis to golf, hiking to berry picking, biking to walking, mini-golf to maxi-eating. Just check out The Big Book filled with laminated guides in our living room.

Our home is available for Sunday-to-Sunday weekly rentals during the high season of summer and 3-night-minimum rentals the rest of the year.

About Emily Sachar

My husband, Joel, and I live in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We fell in love with the Cape as dog-owners and seek to make our home in Wellfleet a haven for animal lovers and their pets -- and, of course, for families, couples and all who want to enjoy the serenity, peace and pleasures that adorn Cape Cod! Joel is a restaurant owner and chef, and he has ensured that the kitchen is well-stocked with all you'll need to make delicious meals at home. For my part, I want to share with you all I've learned about the many outdoor adventures to be had on the Cape. And I hope you'll like my home decor and my garden. I am an art historian and I am building a Kunstkammer outside the home (check it out!). We both hope you'll find our home welcoming and carefully planned; we spend a lot of time here, and you'll find our property does not feel like a rental. Great care has been taken to offer a luxurious and thoughtful experience for our guests!

Though we travel widely outside the United States, our time on the Cape is special. When we decided to purchase a home, Wellfleet was the only town we considered. And this home on Vanessa's Way was love at first sight. We had never seen such an unusual property -- so close to so much yet so private and open.

We will welcome you with care and attention and hope you will come to love 65 Vanessa's Way, Wellfleet, and the Cape, and return for many years to come!

Emily Sachar purchased this house in 2014

Why Emily Sachar chose Cape Cod

We purchased this home in 2014. And we literally looked at just two properties before dashing to buy it. We love the privacy, on one hand, and the open floor plan and expansive views on the other. Access to morning walks with our rescue dog, to biking, to mini-golf, to fabulous ice cream, and the ability to see the most exquisite sunsets on Planet Earth inspired us to make this home our own.

Note that we are updating furniture throughout, and you will see exquisite new pieces (and photos) in 2015! Plus....the new screened-in porch!

What makes this house unique

We are dog-lovers and not only will encourage you to bring your pet but will help you find the special places on the Cape that no dog should miss!

You'll also love our new outdoor shower, the many birds that frequent the marsh -- from blue herons to cormorants and many others -- and the walks to so many amazing places: the woods, the beaches, the ponds and more. Whether you bike, run, veg out, or anything else, we have ideas for you!

Lovey and quiet cape house

  • 5 of 5

We booked this unseen on VRBO. On our expectations were exceeded in every respect, and I can only confirm what the other reviewers have said, and don't need to repeat. Very high end kitchen, finishes, lovely gardens, quiet, private, and a view. We've rented many houses on the cape over the past 35 years, and have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. This was good.

A quiet haven on the cape surrounded by nature.

  • 5 of 5

This house was spacious and comfortable for 8 adults and 1 child. The screened in deck was my favorite overlooking the marsh. The kitchen was well stocked and met the standards for my son in law who is a gormet cook. Nice television with comfortable living room and dining room. The bedrooms all had beds for couples so everyone was happy.

Nice collection of walks to the bay and cove with low traffic. and easy to drive to the ocean side and ponds. Wellfleet Village a 5-10 min drive.

A True Gem!

  • 5 of 5

Our family has been vacationing in Wellfleet for many years. We required more space this year due to expanding family. We were so delighted to find Cleo's Cove! The home sits near a beautiful salt marsh with such a beautiful view. The air contained bedrooms were great during this hot summer, however we did enjoy the open windows with great breezes during daytime. The kitchen was lovely with anything you could possibly need for cooking. The kids and also adults enjoyed the hammock for relaxing in such a peaceful place.Cant give enough praise to Emily for being such a great host! You can see how she loves sharing her home with others. The welcome basket was so appreciated, and I must say a first time in many years of renting in Wellfleet! Thank You!

Relaxing Weekend in Wellfleet

  • 5 of 5

A few friends and I were planning a weekend trip for Labor Day, and landed on Cape Cod as many of us had not been. Off a small road, the last house on the road sits 'Cleo's Cove', a hidden gem in Wellfleet.

As you reach the last house on the small road, you immediately notice the stunning salt marshes that surround the property. Wrapped in a beautiful garden, the house is perfect for groups. The 4 bedrooms are very roomy, and there is lots of space for group activities, including two living rooms and a loft office with a computer. Each bedroom has its own AC, which is nice to control the temperature. Although we didn't spend much time indoors, the board games and large TVs were great to have. The outdoor, screened in porch was perfect for all meals with unbelievable views over the marshes. The huge kitchen made it very easy to cook in large format, stocked with every appliance and pan you would need.

Provided for us was a book with lots of great recommendations for hikes, activities to try, and a nice welcome basket. We tried two of the hikes, each with detailed directions and both definitely recommended.

The town of Wellfleet is a short drive away, as is many beaches and ponds which are all recommended in the book. The weather was a bit cold when we went, but the beaches were gorgeous and a must-see, even if it is for an excuse to try the nice outdoor shower in the front of the property.

Coming from a large city, this house offered the perfect getaway weekend, proving a quiet and relaxing oasis. I highly recommend it if you are coming to the area, and will definitely be returning soon.

A Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our week long vacation in Wellfleet has become a family ritual over the past 10 years. This is our 2nd year at Cleo's Cove and it could not have been more perfect. We are a family that covers three generations and the house accommodating each of our needs. Dinners in the screened in porch couldn't have been nicer, the bedrooms were so comfortable with individually controlled air conditioners, the kitchen was well equipped and easily navigated. The house is really beautiful with a lovely cottage garden that you can see from many of the rooms. There was plenty of space outside for my 9 year old grandsons to explore and the rope hammock was again a big hit! There were plenty of lovely walks/hikes that you could do from the house. The owners listed about 20 in a notebook for our use.

We are all looking forward to next summer!

Bumpy road to a little slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

As you are driving down the bumpy dirt road Vanessa's Way, by a few smarmy looking properties that look like folks are running their own private campgrounds, you may begin to worry that you have made a bad choice for a rental. Take heart.

Cleo's Cove is the last house on the street, on a small point extending out into the salt marshes. Concerned about the odor of low tide? No worries there. Bugs? we were urged to bring lots of bug spray, but never had to use it once.

Key was in the agreed upon location, so we went up the steps, by the beautiful gardens, and entered the house, to the pleasant greeting voice of the security system... which never gave us a lick of trouble, just a quick hello every time we opened certain doors. Plenty of space for our group, which varied during our two weeks from 2-8.

Probably the room that was most used was the screened in porch. great breezes all the time, many dinners out there as well as games played. Master bedroom was on the main floor just off the kitchen, and was very comfortable for us. The other three bedrooms and a second TV room were downstairs.

Enough yard space outside for our dog to get plenty of exercise (she only ran down into the marsh twice, so we cleaned her off in the outdoor shower, which was WONDERFUL). Very dark out there when there is no moon, which made for great meteor shower views!!

Kitchen was very well equipped, and the outdoor Weber was used several times. There are notes EVERYWHERE telling you where stuff was or how to run things. Very thoughtful.

Quibbles? The downstairs felt damp to some of our guests, but if you run the AC while you are there, its OK without necessarily being freezing. We had a few unexpected crawling visitors, a balky smoke alarm, and a dishwasher breakdown while we were there, but Emily was on top of it. She was even willing to hire a maid to come in to wash the dishes so we would not have to while we were on vacation... how great is that.

One thing to keep in mind if you rent linens... the master BR bed has one of those toppers on the mattress that make it extra thick, so as a result the rented sheets for a standard queen bed don't really fit all that well. When you go, ask them if they have sheets that can fit a thicker queen mattress. Other than that the linen/towel rental was there when we arrived and easy as could be.

Location is great!!! close to many beaches. No qualms about renting again.
