Why Gary Hickox chose Provincetown

We see Provincetown as a sanctuary. We found this property and fell in love with it. We wanted the opportunity to be able to share this slice of heaven with others.

We fell in love with the outdoor space, the location, the privacy, the kitchen, the quietness yet accessibility to everything Provincetown has to offer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The "Red Door" Cottage is amazing! We stayed a weekend in the winter and were very cozy. Watched movies on the big screen and enjoyed the fantastic views. We then rented it again in the Spring for a longer weekend. No car is needed where you can walk to Commercial Street, although the parking space is nice to have. This is a home in every way with all the comforts and luxuries you seldom find at hotels. Beautiful private bedroom, bathroom is spacious and a full kitchen with all the amenities you could need. The patio outside is nice and quiet and there is a BBQ and private garden. We found ourselves at home instantly. This cottage is a gem that we'll rent again.

Well done cottage with so much charm and all the comforts of home.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is so well put together. From the moment I opened its beautiful red door I was welcomed into its warmth and captured by its charm. It's cozy spaces, well appointed furnishings, and beautiful outdoor space made for a wonderful vacation. The owners were great and pleasant to work with. They actually challenged me to come up with things that would have made my stay even better. I struggled in thought and could only come up with three minor things. A grill brush, a margarita pitcher, and romantic patio lighting. Like I stated... This cottage is well done! Cudos to the owners!

So cute, clean, quiet & less than 2 blocks to Commerical. It's within walking distance to everything

  • 5 of 5

I've never written a review before, but fell in love w the Red Door Cottage! It has everything & the patio is an extra plus to entertain or just relax!

Open the front & back door & you'll have a wonderful cross breeze; or turn the living/dining area & bedroom ceiling fans on; or use the 2 A/C units... whatever your choice ... you will be comfortable!

The living/dining area is furnished so well to entertain, relax or work ... if you need to. The TV has all the premium channels, including wi-fi!

The kitchen has everything: full size refrigerator, gas stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender, Keurig, coffee grinder, & every kitchen gadget you can think of ... & a washer/dryer too!

The bathroom Is small ... it's a cottage ... but it even has a towel heater, luxury towels & every item you might have forgotten to pack!

The bedroom has a very comfortable queen size bed with luxury sheets and another TV, that pulls out & turns for comfortable viewing in bed. It also is furnished with a small closet w/lots of hangers, two areas w/wall hooks to hang items & 3 drawers in the bureau to use, as well.

No details have been missed ... I will return to the Red Door Cottage!

Charming Little Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is my second stay at Red Door. It's a perfect little getaway, a block from Commercial Street, but quiet and, despite its proximity to another house, surprisingly private. The back looks across a green hedge with a view of the monument in the distance. The cottage is extremely well equipped, clean, and comfortably furnished. The little patio is wonderful and fragrant with a thick row of lavender. Highly recommended.

Great place to stay, beautiful inside and out

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Red Door Cottage for 3 weeks in September. I typically stay in the West End, but staying here (near East End) changed my mind about how to stay in Ptown. Here's what's excellent about this place:

* It's two blocks to a public access beach with picnic tables and amazing views of the harbor and beautiful sunsets (access is to the left of Yolk)

* The patio is secluded and a great place to have your meals, read a book, or unroll your yoga mat and do some stretching

* Go for water view runs along route 6A right out the door

* Get into the center of town in 5-10 minutes walk, or 1-2 minutes bike

Overall this cottage is extremely convenient, well equipped, and very cute. I'd love to stay again.

Incredibly Charming Property

  • 5 of 5

I just spent two happy weeks in this incredibly charming cottage. Everything about it is perfect. It's near the center of town, but enough off the main street to be quiet and restful. It's right behind another house, but the windows look out to greenery and an unobstructed view of the Pilgrim Monument (Ptown's Eiffel Tower.) When the wind shifts in late afternoon, the cottage is cooled by delightful breezes. It's small, but doesn't feel the least bit cramped or claustrophobic. The kitchen has great appliances, cookware, dishes, and gadgets. It's super clean. The bathroom is spacious, has a great shower and window, and is well-stocked with everything you need from hair dryer to mouthwash. As for the patio, it's a dreamy spot, fragrant with roses and lavender. I'm a veteran VRBO renter and this is one of the best I've stayed in. I'd praise it more (the comfort of the bed, the ceiling fans and in-wall air conditioning, for example) but am afraid it won't be available when I next want to rent it. The owners are friendly and easy to communicate with. In case it wasn't obvious: HIGHLY recommended.
