Overview

About the property

One of 4 cottages secluded on an acre of lush property 3 min walk to two beaches

Our vacation rental cottages are located just outside of Treasure Cay on an acre of land filled with lush gardens and large native trees. The cottages are perfect for couples, or families. The relaxing sound of the waves can be heard with the windows open and two beautiful beaches await just a 2-3 min walk away. Golf cart, bicycle and car rentals are available once you chose how far your adventure will take you. There are restaurants, bars, a marina, a golf course, grocery stores and liquor stores within the resort and immediate outlying area, from ¼ mile to 3 miles away, so if you love to be on foot walking is an option also. If you are looking for a peaceful space in nature this is your place, we are close enough to do anything but far away enough to do nothing!

On property there are plenty of shaded spaces to pull up a chair and read a book. You will find hidden surprises everywhere you go, be it a perfectly ripe tomato from the garden or a humming bird that may stop its flight to sit and say hello. The sounds of nature are all around, hermit crabs marching through the leaves, curly tail lizards scurrying into hiding spots and the many birds that sing their happy songs from sunrise to sunset. There is never a dull moment when immersing yourself in the natural environment that surrounds Four Winds

Abaco is known for its bright blue waters and white sandy beaches. It is no wonder Treasure Cay was named one of the top 10 beaches in the world. You can experience great snorkeling right off shore in the private cove just a few minutes’ walk from the cottages. Boat rentals and private excursions are available within the resort and a Sunday trip to the famous Nippers bar on Great Guana Cay is a must. Three bars and restaurants are located along the Treasure Cay Beach so a great walk on a beautiful beach can be accompanied by a stop for a quick snack or a refreshing drink and of course an occasional dip in the magnificent turquoise ocean.

Discover a nature trail that will lead you to Carleton Point. The vacation rentals are on a property that has been in the family for 5 generations. It is the original landing site of the British Loyalists that fled New York after the United States won their independence. Treasure Cay was originally an island and the Loyalist refugees found the inland creek system to be a great harbour. The settlement of Carleton was named after the British Naval Commander that led the refugees to our shores. From Carleton some of the refugees moved on to settle Green Turtle Cay, Marsh Harbour and other areas on the island of Abaco.

Sink your toes in the white sand. Guests have two beaches to choose from within a two to three minute walk from the cottages. A private cove offers excellent snorkeling, coastal fishing and shelling and a stroll on the famous Treasure Cay Beach at sunrise will mesmerize you. Both beaches are great for a picnic, swimming or sunbathing.

Our cottage rentals add colour to a lush green landscape in the heart of Abaco. One of the best things about The Bahamas is the amazing turquoise blue waters contrasted by the brightly painted buildings and signs scattered throughout the many islands. We are a culturally diverse country and the use of colour speaks for the happy and vibrant spirit of the Bahamian people. Whether it be in a small fishing town that time forgot or an energy filled Junkanoo Parade in the streets you will always feel the life and colour of our heritage.

Each rental cottage has a private deck where guests can enjoy happy hour at any hour. Cool off after a day at the beach, and read a good book. Guests can get creative and serve dinner on the deck. Our rental cottages are fully stocked with kitchen essentials. Guests can cook each night, or fill up on local cuisine and bring the leftovers home for later. The open living room and kitchen floor plan makes a great space for the chef in the group.

About Danette Pinder

I love to cook and work in my garden. I enjoy the peace and quiet of living in the islands and the time spent with my family. My favourite saying is "Every morning I awake torn between a desire to save the world and an inclination to savour it; this makes it hard to plan the day".

The property that I am currently hosting, and residing on, has been in my family for 5 generations and is the original landing site of the British Loyalists that fled New York after the United States won their independence. I am a native born Bahamian and as a host I would like to share the beauty of my country with my guests and offer them a truly unique experience off the proverbial "beaten path".

Why Danette Pinder chose Bahamas

The Cottages were built by my parents in the mid seventies and it is my pleasure to still have them available so that guests may enjoy this extremely unique and tranquil location.

We have had travelers from all over the world stay with us and they all have the same comment when asked how we can improve, the response is "don't change anything!"

What makes this cottage unique

Everyone that visits takes a little piece home in their hearts and leaves a little piece to be nurtured by this special place until they return again.

Cute authentic little cottage in great central location Treasure Cay!

  • 5 of 5

I very much enjoyed the little cottage on Abaco. The cottage was typical of local houses in the Bahamas; with a lot of charm and was like living like a local. The owner lives in one of the other 3 cottages that are all grouped together. She was very nice and very helpful; she made it like staying at her home. Area was very quiet and relaxing. Cottage had everything you need for sleeping and cooking. I used the cottage as my launching point for daily trips to Green Parrot Cay, Man-O-war Cay, Elbow Cay and Guana Cay. Each are short ferry rides and have interesting people and great beaches! Great place!

Will Return

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Blue Marlin for a friend's wedding in Treasure Cay and we couldn't have been more impressed. Danette was amazing, very accommodating to all our needs and the cottage is wonderful. There is an annex which provides a short walk to the beach, it's essentially your own private beach as it's on the opposite side of the public beach. We loved the stay and will most certainly return.

Great Stay - to get away

  • 5 of 5

This property was everything it was advertised to be. It was near a very beautiful beach and ithe rental unit was secluded with all the basics. Danette was great and very helpful. If you are looking to get away and have access to the beach this place is perfect. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel experience with all the high end amenities of a chain hotel, then you should look elsewhere. I would also recommend a golf cart to get around treasure key.
