About the property

3Br(6),Family room w/ lg sectional sofa(2) and day rm w/trundlebed(2)

The Linton Homestead is a two story historical structure built in 1908 on 4.5 ac of prime property on the Caloosahatchee River two miles from the Gulf of Mexico. It has 300 ft of water frontage and some of the best fishing for snook, redfish, sharks, and tarpon any where in Florida. In the beginning of the 20th century, cattlemen from the central part of the state would bring their cattle through our front yard to Punta Rassa. They were then boated to

Cuba. The back property was a part of a 200ac gladiolus farm that prospered thru the 60s.

The 1900 sq ft house is made out of pine and cedar, and has weathered many hurricanes over the years. We have been in 5 and one flood brought a pod of 125lb tarpon outside our bedroom window. It has a screened porch which has 2 Brown and Jordan lounge chairs and table with 6 chairs. There are many chairs and tables on the deck as well as the pool area .The pool is a crazy shape but fun to swim in.The hot tub is adjacent to the pool and kept at 104 dg. As we enter the house the first room to the left is a family room with a nice cocktail table with sectional sofa that can sleep 2.It has a 50 in TV and oversize mirror. You have a straight view to the river. The nautical room is across the hall.It has a queen size bed with a good view. At the end of the hall is a lovely sitting room with a plush loveseat and two chairs. The bathroom is a full one .The kitchen has a refrigerator, dishwasher and a microwave.

The upstairs has two bedrooms with queen size beds in them and are very comfortable with lovely views. The room at the end of the hall has two exercise machines in them along with a trundle bed with two two matress.

The owners house is nonrentable and is connected by screened in deck and is pictured by three pods. The property contains about 600 mature palms. There is a lagoon that is 150 ft long and 50 ft wide that has docked our boats for years. There is much flora and fauna on the estate.

Basically you are getting a lovely 100 year old house that has been renovated and refurbished on one of the pretiest pieces of property in Florida. You cant go wrong

Beautiful Landscaping and views of the water

  • 3 of 5

The host, Chris, went out of his way to share local information and was responsive to our requests. The fisherman in our group enjoyed being able to fish from the property and Chris recommended a guide who also took them on a half-day fishing (not catching) excursion.

The property itself is a bit tired. We spent most of our time on the comfortable and shaded screened porch / lanai. It was a great place to have coffee in the morning or drinks in the evening. There was a major landscaping project that had occurred just before we arrived, so unfortunately the lawn facing the water was mostly dirt. (Chris did advise me of this before we arrived.) Several of us enjoy cooking but the kitchen is not equipped to cook, so if you stay you should plan on eating out.

My wife and I needed a long overdue vacation, and chose this delightful property in Fort Myers, Florida. The owner has a gorgeous property right on the river in Fort Myers. The accommodations were like visiting classic Florida - it could not have felt more charming. With access to the property pool and hot tub, and fishing right from the property, who could ask for more. Chris can also arrange for guided professional fishing trips, if that is your inclination. Beaches of Sanibel Island and Captiva Island are a short trip away. There is a lot to do in the area, and Chris is very familiar with all the local spots of interest. Don't miss this cozy getaway.

Enjoyable time on Spring Break

  • 5 of 5

My family and another (4 adults and 4 kids) had a wonderful and relaxing time at Chris' guest house. Having access to a pool and hot tub, as well as fishing holes on-site was a plus. We ate on the screened in porch nearly every night and had a bonfire to make s'mores on the last night. Also, the location was such that we had ready access to both Sanibel and Fort Myers beach. Chris was a gracious host and gave us great recommendations for food and activities while there.

Tranquil Surroundings

  • 4 of 5

Quiet, friendly setting on the Caloosahatchee River. Owners Chris and Ginger Johnson were pleasant and quite accommodating. We appreciated their knowledge of the area with regard to things to do and places to eat. It was a great atmosphere for 3 hardworking individuals that needed a quiet, home like atmosphere to return to following 12-15 hour days. We were free to use the on site dock to fish (though we never got the chance) as well as the meandering pool and hot tub (which we used ALOT). Plenty of room for all. Thanks for a great stay folks.

Spring Break - 2015

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent five days/four night's at Chris' guest house and had a fantastic time. The guest house was great and worked out perfectly for the six of us. The rooms were charmingly decorated and had spacious closets. The kitchen was well-equipped with brand-new pots & pans and silverware. The guest house had direct access to the pool/hot tub enclosure from the front door and a side door. The upstairs screened porch (connected to a bedroom and the upstairs hallway) looks out over the lawn towards the Caloosahatchee River and quickly became a favorite spot to sit & chat, read a book, browse the internet (wireless), and just enjoy the view. My father-in-law thoroughly enjoyed the chaise lounges looking out from the pool enclosure towards the river. Chris let us use the large propane grill, and we actually enjoyed our meals prepared at the house more than the local restaurants we visited. We ate all our meals outside at the large table on the porch between the guest house and the main residence. We all enjoyed walking the huge lawn down to the river. Our kids collected quite a few coconuts, and Chris provided tools to help us open them. I walked several miles each morning on the surrounding quiet residential streets. Chris was extremely helpful with his suggestions on places to visit and places to eat. There was a wonderful produce stand located less than 2 miles away and we thoroughly enjoyed picking up fresh ingredients for the meals we prepared for ourselves. Chris was a great host! BOTTOMLINE: Superb location with a well-equipped guest house--perfect for privacy, quiet family evenings, playing in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub, and making memories that will last a lifetime.
