About Todd Jernigan

I am a native Tennessean who grew up around Reelfoot Lake. As I child I would fish with my family on the lake. I would see the few houses that were allowed to be built on the lake shore and say to myself, I'm going to own one of those one day. That day came in 2013 when my sister listed this house. She called me in NY where I currently live and work and told me how nice it was and I bought it from only pictures. It is and will be the house I retire in one day. I had no plans on renting it, but thought about how much joy it could bring to others rather than just sit there. I hope you enjoy this house as much as I do everytime I return to the great Reelfoot Lake!

Todd Jernigan purchased this house in 2014

Why Todd Jernigan chose Hornbeak

This house is not set up as a hunting cabin. It has all the comforts of your own home. A great gas operated fire place, cable TV, a full kitchen, washer and dryer and a sun room with a view! Our new deck and pier is great for sitting out on the lake.

What makes this house unique

Unlike many of the rental's on the lake, we are really 'on' the lake. You have your own pier to fish from or just relax on. If you are not a fan of cooking, you are within walking distance of Blue Bank resort and dining. We offer the best sunset on the lake!

Reelfoot Lake Memories

  • 5 of 5

We had our annual cousin camp at Jernigan's Cabin! It was just perfect for us. The house was well equipped and had plenty of space. The deck area was perfect with a table, chairs and fire pit along with a pier right over the water. The kids loved fishing every day! The Jernigans were easy to reach and quick to respond. We're already planning our next trip!

Relaxing time spent with friends.

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the more relaxing vacations we have had, we did not spend a lot of time in the cabin, but the setup was perfect for us. We just had the two couples so there was plenty of room, the cabin was clean, and everything we needed was there for us. The patio outside is where we spent the majority of our time. The guys were able to fish right off of the deck and caught several fish. The outside setup was perfect, with the fire pit for the chilly nights, and enough setting to accommodate a larger group of people.

Very peaceful with an awesome lake view!

  • 4 of 5

This was a very nice home and I really enjoyed the peace and quiet! When we first arrived the garbage outside was overflowing and smelled bad put the property manager took care of it right away! The only downside was the bed in the master bedroom was way too hard to sleep on! Would I stay here again though? Yes I would!

Amazing sunsets, great views, good fishing

  • 5 of 5

The lake, the house, the businesses in the local area where a huge pleasant surprise as the winding country roads on the way in had us slightly concerned. My kids loved the fishing, my wife loved the deck and the views. Couldn't have asked for more.

Comfortable cabin and the sunsets were spectacular!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very comfortable for our party of 7 and the weather was almost perfect, with only a few rainstorms. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans to cook with and the room at the back had plenty of windows and some comfortable chairs to relax, enjoy the views of the lake and wildlife and read a book. Our children and grandchildren enjoyed Discovery park. And we all enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. We found a wonderful little pizza restaurant named Alvino's in Dyersburg, where we all had some really good Italian sandwiches and conversation. We also found Flippen's Fruit Farm near Hornbeak that had the best peaches we've had in a long time! My husband caught catfish, paddle fish and freshwater drum every day from the lower deck. The only real negatives were that the bed in the master bedroom was very hard, so we had to buy a foam mattress pad, which made it ok. and the TV didn't work well, for which I was glad because we had more fun playing board games and card games with our children and grandchildren. Unfortunately it also must have been the time of year for the mosquitoes and spiders, because they were out in force outside. Overall, we had a wonderful time enjoying this little corner of Tennessee.
